22 Chapter 22

Chapter 22 — I Have Returned!

Yu Qian was inside the study room, sitting at a chair leisurely while enjoying the warm breeze coming from the window.

His face was clearly covered with more visible wrinkles due to the passage of time.

Yu Qian was currently thinking on whether if Ning Chen had already completed his training as he had estimated or not.

The thought of Ning Chen leaving for a long time also saddened him a lot.

The two of them had after all spent a long time with each other and he had started to consider Ning Chen like his own child.

Knock!

Knock!

A soft knocking sounds emerged out suddenly, causing all of his thoughts to melt away.

Yu Qian quickly know it was Ning Chen based on the sounds he had heard.

"Master, I need to talk with you! Can I enter?" Ning Chen asked behind the door.

"Enter," Yu Qian said briefly while closing his eyes.

It seems like his thoughts were true...

Ning Chen entered the study room and saw his master sitting on the chair, facing him straightly.

He glanced at his master's wrinkled and pale-stricken face.

Yu Qian was growing older and Ning Chen was afraid that his master's time left on this world was getting shorter.

But he can't do anything because it was almost impossible to make a mortals life extremely long or eternal.

Yu Qian didn't worried about his end slowly inching closer.

Everything would after all be born and then die at the end.

That was the never-ending cycle of life and death with only gods being able to escape it, but still tied closely to it.

Yu Qian was satisfied that he was able to live his whole life to it's very best and he was now just waiting to die fulfilled.

"Master, I have finally completed the final part of my training," Ning Chen said as he approached Yu Qian.

"I see..." Yu Qian sighed deeply before smiling lightly.

"Since you have already completed your training with an effort that only few could show, when are planning to leave to return toward your home?"

"I still don't know yet, but maybe tomorrow or later at night," Ning Chen shook his head.

A part of him wanted to return back home quickly to meet with his family, but at the same time, he wanted to spend more time with Yu Qian and Yu Liena.

He felt conflicted and torn.

Yu Qian saw those complicated feelings on Ning Chen's eyes and said, "You don't need to rush and patient. Also, don't get lazy and train diligently even after leaving this place."

Ning Chen took a deep breath and nodded calmly.

"Of course. Even with my death, I will continue to train on the hell or heaven," Ning Chen said jokingly.

"Good, good! That's the spirit! Also, do you still have something you want to do before leaving?" Yu Qian chuckled before asking.

Ning Chen became silent hearing those words, but he steeled his mind and heart.

He wanted to release the thing weighting his heart before leaving.

If he didn't, he felt he would regret it for the rest of his life.

"I actually want to confess my feelings toward Yu Liena and I wanted to first get your permission to do so..." Ning Chen stammered nervously.

Him developing an unfamiliar emotion called love for Yu Liena was inevitable.

Although she had a simple appearance and looks, Ning Chen admired her for being strong and wise unlike him. Her cooking skills were also fantastic and was enough to ascend someone to heaven.

They were also living under the same roof and very close with each other.

However, Ning Chen was afraid of Yu Qian and Yu Liena's reaction after expressing his own feelings.

Ning Chen lowered his head and took a glance at his master's face.

Yu Qian's expression didn't changed much after hearing his words.

As if he had already predicted this to happen.

"As I expected... Things had developed this way...." Yu Qian mumbled and then stared at Ning Chen's eyes.

"If it was any normal guys who said this directly to my face, I would have already destroy his tongue."

"..." Ning Chen was terrified hearing that.

"But you're very different from them. I've came to gradually learn many things about you during these past years. Ning Chen, you're very kind and also hard-working with your immense talent not blinding you."

Yu Qian smiled warmly.

"I don't mind you taking my precious daughter and I hope you love her dearly."

Ning Chen eyes widened in surprised and quickly replied.

"I will."

"But I'm not the one who will make the decision. It will be Yu Liena herself who will decide."

Ning Chen nodded slightly and then kneeled on the floor.

"Thank you very much for everything, Master..." He said softly.

Yu Qian was able to feel Ning Chen's sincerity through those words.

He was very glad to teach someone like Ning Chen and become part of his life.

His effort on passing his life's legacy was worth it.

When he finally fall into eternal sleep, there would be no longer a thing called regret.

....

Yu Liena was different from normal person. She was very smart and strong-willed compared to others.

Her dream was to be alone—away from everything and just feel the solitude brought by darkness.

That was what she would always say to me when I ask her about her dream.

It was a very strange dream and it contained immeasurable bitterness.

And I didn't thought of her joking because her words didn't contained any falsehood.

I now stood Infront of Yu Liena's room and dazedly stared at the wooden door.

Gathering all of the courage I could muster, I started knocking on the door.

Once, twice, and thrice.

I don't care even if I get rejected because I atleast was able to release the feelings which suffocated me for years.

The door soon opened widely, revealing Yu Liena who stood infront of me.

Beautiful...

I thought as I saw her face.

Yu Liena was slightly smaller with her body starting to develop in various spots.

Her pair of obsidian-like eyes were also captivating with her long jet-black hair falling down her back.

I felt my heart beating intensely, seemingly about to escape out from my chest.

No matter how many times I thought about it, she was very beautiful in my eyes.

"What is it?" Yu Liena raised her eyebrows as she asked.

"I've completed my training and I would probably..." I couldn't finish my sentence.

"Oh, I see. So you're now gonna leave and return to your family," She said with her eyes slightly growing sorrowful and realising the purpose of my visit.

I nodded while smiling awkwardly. I wasn't able to get used to this.

It was now the time to confess.

I didn't know anything about setting the mood right or choosing a proper location to confess.

"What...?" Yu Liena was slightly flustered as she saw my eyes staring at her.

She was a girl who sought after loneliness and I didn't wanted that.

I wanted to be with her.

Opening my mouth, I started to say my feelings at it's very pure and raw form.

"Living alone was your dream. You can destroy that dream now. I will create a new, better dream for you. This dream won't always be happy, and there would be many things you will want to forget. But if you want. If it's what you desire, I'll stay alongside you."

I spoke again. But this time, appearing more determined.

"Live a life with me and I'll be yours and you'll be mine."

Yu Liena was startled upon hearing those words.

This was clearly a confession.

She was very happy hearing those words, but was reluctant to accept my feelings.

There was no way she could destroy her dream...

"I'm sorry..." Yu Liena bit her lips and replied quietly.

But I heard it very clearly and felt my heart twisting in pain.

I was definitely prepared for this to happen, but the pain was greater than I had imagined.

"Why?" I asked quickly, wanting to know the reason.

Yu Liena averted her gaze, feeling it hard to look at my face.

"I'm just an ordinary mortal. You're from the world of spirit masters, I will just probably hinder you on your path, become your greatest and fatal weakness and make you feel sadness."

Her answer was something I didn't expected.

Did I still have a chance?

"I've thought you were stronger than this! I don't care about you being a mortal or being my weakness!" I said angrily.

Yu Liena also appeared to become angry after hearing my remarks.

"Things aren't that easy! Are you prepared to halt your cultivation just to be with me or continue and forget about me?

"....." I was lost for words to say.

I definitely couldn't stop being a spirit master because there were many things I still needed to do.

Even if I decided to stop being one, would Yu Liena appreciate my decision?

The answer was no.

There was also something more deeper on why Yu Liena pushing me away.

"What if I choose not to discard something? A third option." I asked.

"I said things aren't like that and why are you being too unreasonable?"

"My love for you is just that great, breaking any kinds of logics and reasonings. I don't even care if people mocks or ridicule at my foolish choices."

"Then how will you make me accept your love? Make me somehow obtain the ability to cultivate, something nobody in history haven't achieved? Find an elixir that grants immortality?"

"I'll do all of that if needed!" I said resolutely.

"Even if you were able to find all of those things, it wouldn't work! It's just impossible!" Yu Liena said deeply, pushing me aside again.

"Why do you keep on pushing me away?" I asked frustrated.

Suddenly, Yu Liena's face turned dark as she uttered in a cold tone.

"This is just my cursed fate...."

She entered back her bedroom and closed the door, leaving me standing there.

I stood there like a statue and in confusion.

What did she meant by her cursed fate?

I didn't know anything about it and neither Yu Qian. I then left my spot and went back toward my own room.

The only thing I could do was rest.

Rest my aching heart after being rejected.

...

Ning Chen left Yu Qian's house after the moon rose above the sky, replacing the sun.

He bid his farewell at Yu Qian and also toward Yu Liena.

It wasn't a proper one with him saying goodbye Infront of her room's door since she haven't left it.

It was a shame that he couldn't afford to eat her food.

Ning Chen promised to return back, however he knew it would take a long time.

After travelling for many weeks, Ning Chen finally returned at the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

He stood at the clan's gate, wearing a black robe to hide his appearance.

He stretched his hand outward to the air as excitement flowed through his veins.

"I have finally returned!" He exclaimed loudly, causing many eyes to fall at his direction.

Many people thought he was crazy.

"Boy, identify yourself!" A guard who found Ning Chen suspicious, approached him.

Ning Chen stopped moving and looked at the guard.

"Who am I you ask?" He smirked, slowly removing the robe he was wearing.

"I'm the First Heir Of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Ning Chen! The big brother of Ning Rongrong!"

With those loud declaration, many people were shocked to their cores.

Today was Ning Chen's return, and also the beginning of his chaotic journey toward godhood!
