31 - Teasing the locals

Sea Song Port, the air was cool and carried the smell of fish. The port was known as a contention to the Coiling Islands, they where a group of islands that when looking from above made a sort of wave pattern from one continent to the next.

On the outskirts of the Port a towering ghostly white figure could be seen strolling towards it from everywhere in the Port.

Immediately the Ports guards moved into the path of this giant, ready to fight if needed.

As the figure got closer they started to make out that it was a person of monstrous height. "HALT! STATE YOUR BUSINESS TITAN!" Said a man in the same guard uniform as everyone else but with a patch that was coloured gold showing he's the one in charge here.

Sighing Coldin wondered what he did in his past life to have to deal with situations like this ever time.

He kept on moving until he was in full view of the guards then stopped.

The guards where shocked by Coldins size, but so was everyone.

One of he guards muttered "...a wandering giant.....an inn called Drifting Mist.....Woh"

The other guards heard him and the same went for the head guard. They'd heard of this rumour a couple days ago, all around the port there was talk of a giant traveling with an inn on its back and apparently its next stop was the port.

Focusing his eyes the head guard noticed something on the shoulders of Coldin, a structure with a door at the front.

The door opened up to reveal the owner and some of the more influential guests that decided to stop with them.

"Calm down child, we are simply here visiting, this is the inn Drifting Mist. Are we able o set up shop outside of your port on flat land? We will probably be around for only a week" said the owner with a smirk, she'd been use to this after all they'd been traveling like this for a little over a year now making a reputation for them self's.

Shocked the head guard thought about what she asked and simply pointed to a flat area at the side of one of the ports entrances.

"Many thanks. Coldin, can you set it down and I'll handle the rest"

"Yes ma'am" said Coldin, much like Lee he had found out how venomous the boss could be when annoyed which led to him changing his way he called her.

As the guards watched, Coldin sat the inn down and backed away shrinking as he did once again leaving them stunned but the next moment the inn grew in size till it was the same as an inn of a larger variety thanks to Lee's modifications.

Once set up the main door opened and the guests came out stretching while some laughed at the guards who had their jaw hanging low.

"Hahah that's the biggest yet, can fit a roc egg in it whole"

"Look even their eyes are bulging hahah" said two of the more rowdy guests. It had become common for the guests who had nothing better to do to just stay with the inn so they could travel, some even worked part time.

One of the things that this group loved to do was see the faces of every guard at the different places they visit and compare who was more shocked.

"Hahah good going lad, who'd a thought that a nine year old could be so tall normally" and there it was, the icing to the cake. Follow something visually amazing by a fact that no one can believe, this had been this mans words to the others when stopping before.

To their delight, it worked as intended. Now the guards all had their eyes glued on Coldin.

"Come on Uncle Shin did you really have to do that?" Said Coldin

The rest of the customers laughed at this play while the owner quickly explained the situation to the head guard as well as getting some info.

Once everyone dispersed the owner let the guests know that they planned to stay here for three days so that they could plan the route they would take. So the guests went into the port to explore while waving bye to the group of staff.

Once everyone was informed, the owner, Min, Lee and Coldin went into the staff room to hold a meeting.

"Right Lee how have the modifications been going?" Spoke the owner first.

"Not bad, come tomorrow they'll be sorted just need to attach them" said Lee succinctly.

"Min how's food stocks?"

"Meat and vegetables are fine we need to get some seasoning and fish from the port"

"Coldin do you have a route in mind?"

"Yes boss, I plan to travel through four of the larger islands and two of the smaller ones, the larger have villages or resorts that we can use to stock up on things while the smaller have good views as well as being almost a private beach."

Nodding the owner was happy with the plan they'd been making for the past year of traveling.

They planned to follow Coldin on his journey and got him to make the route after telling him roughly how many towns they should visit. Over time Coldin got better at this and even started to include places in the wilderness that had great views which left the guests breathless.

They could have teleported half way to the next continent by moving to one of the larger islands but decided against it, they where in no rush and they'd been making good time to reach shrek.

It also helps that with Coldins age his height grew more increasing his stride length.

Over the year they had worked together to create something more than just an inn, it became local file lore even bordering a legend which seemed way too much to them but the owner was loving it, the more people heard of them, the more customers they'd have, the more customers the more money they'd gain. Simples.
