6 - Gifts of the Cave

Looking at the walls both filled with fruit and metal the group split up. Ma and Ro both headed towards the stacks of metal, clearly interested.

Each of the twins picked up a metal each and inspected it, at first all was fine but then they both turned and looked at each other before swapping metals and inspecting again once done their eyes moved quickly, seeing that no one was watching them they tried to hide some of the metal in their clothing until...."put it back boys, we'll ask Coldin for some later. So wait"

They both paused in fright looking at the old man. He and said this to them using his spirit power so no one else hear him but it was clear what he meant. They both put the metal down and sat down to rest, their minds still thinking about the metal.

On the other side Chloe was staring at the fruit. She could feel a resonance between her spirit and the fruit. This was one of her spirits passive ability's, her spirit the white karma lily is able to sense precious spirit herbs, fruits and anything of the plant attribute. This made her fully aware of how special all these fruits where, each giving the feeling of sunlight and it's warmth.

While everyone was observing the contents of the caves hall, En Ci was watching Coldin while leaning against a wall with eyes barely open, appearing to others as if he had shut his eyes.

En Ci did this as he was curious as to what Coldin would do as he seemed to have a purpose.

Coldin sat with his eyes closed. He felt the flow of spirit power around his body as well as the layer covering him that he made before to shrink himself down. This was a trick aunt Feng taught him after watching his growth for six years and finally realising something was funny. The basics of this technique was to cover ones body with spirit power, creating a thin film around the entire body. Then use the spirit power to stimulate key points of the body while shrinking the film and that was it. While it may sound simple it requires a level of control that a six year old should not have but Coldin was already on a roll with making the impossible possible.

Coldin felt two different reactions in his body after filling his flowing spirit power. One in his heart and the other in his head. Coldin decided to check his head first as aunt Feng told him that this was where the spirit existed. Upon focusing on his head Coldin felt a crushing feeling and then he was pushed out of his mind. -that was weird- Coldin thought and decided to try again but the same happened each time he tried to look in his mind. He had the feeling that something was keeping him out as if he wasn't ready to see what lay in his own mind.

Finally accepting that he would get nowhere even if he kept trying, Coldin moved on this time inspecting his heart and straight away he found something. It was his spirit mark. Looking at it Coldin could only describe it as a sun. A circle dead centre with nine rays coming from it to a segmented circle each ray pointing to a single segment each. The segment at the top along with the corresponding ray was was coloured a brilliant white while the rest where grey including the inner circle.

This was the mark of Beasts Covenant and Coldin didn't gain any more of a clue as to what his spirit was or what it could do.

Aunt Feng told him that spirits could be categorised into two main types tool and beast but as well as them thief where the less common body and mutated.

Tool spirit was described as a literal tool for example a weapon like a spear, sword or axe to the most random being something like a pillow, napkin or bowl. These spirits could be used to fight with or to support every day life.

Beast spirits are normally a physical augmentation of the spirit master for example if someone had a lion spirit they would gain traits of a lion like it's ears, fangs and claws. This would drastically increase a persons physical prowess and tends to be seen as power, attack or agility masters.

Body spirits are the enhancement of a specific body part like eyes which would allow the spirit master to gain better observational powers and in some cases use spiritual attacks.

Finally there was mutated spirits which where looked down upon by everyone and unfortunately Coldin had the feeling this is what his spirit belonged to.
