35 - Eyes of Blue
A full week passed before Coldin finally woke up. Now everyone that knew him was worried for him while the natives of the island where curious as to what happened.
Min sat by the makeshift bed that Lee had set up for Coldin since his body was gigantic. People did ask the owner if she could shrink him but she shook her head "look before we know what happened I don't really feel like messing with his body. Don't know if it could go wrong..." hearing this many agreed and some simply didn't care.
The new bed was out in the open but had a simple gazebo like roof to keep rain off Coldin as he laid.
Up until Coldin woke up he just laid there still and silent. The only reason everyone knew he was alive was the steady rhythm of his chest moving up and down along with a strong pulse.
Min didn't get much done that week. She spent most of her time with Coldin even going so far as to cultivate next to him.
On the day that Coldin opened his eyes he found a new view of the world before him.
Everything had wisps of colour running along them, through them and from them.
Even with this strange view he didn't panic or rather it was like his body wouldn't allow him to panic.
Overtime he got use to this view. While some details of the world vanished something new replaced it.
With the colours that made up everything there was a flow, a pattern and over the span of a few minutes Coldin was use to this new state.
A sudden rustling could be heard from next to him, looking over he saw a humanoid figure made of red wisp like smoke.
"Coldin your fin...w-what's wrong with your eyes?" Said Min who Coldin instantly recognised.
"What's wrong?" Coldin asked, sure he could see the world different but that's only till he goes back to the other way....his mind was then filled with the thought -wait how do I go back?-
For the next few hours Coldin tried his best to revert his sight while min just watched Coldin.
His once young face now had stubble growing, his skin had became harder and more durable while maintaining its pale colour and softness. Finally his eyes looked hollow and dead. No pupil and they seemed unfocused. The blue part of his eye from before had taken over his pupil making his eyes look like white snow surrounding a round pond.
She couldn't tell what this meant but she'd seen people like this before and from what she knew it was most likely that Coldin was now blind.
Coldin slowly lost the will to go on and tears started to run down his face, his body no longer keeping him in a state of calmness.
Seeing this Min held his hand and asked what had happened.
She heard about the island covered with thick vegetation, about the vipers and how he escaped them only to wake up here.
It was obvious that something had happened to Coldin from the time he escaped to the time he got back to the island but they couldn't make heads or tails of it.
Eventually Coldin fell back asleep, mentally drained by the fact he no longer has the sight he was so use too. Thinking to himself as he fell asleep -will Chloe still....-
Once Coldin was asleep Min went and explained everything to the owner and Lee, letting them know what happened to Coldin and how he was now most likely blind.
The mask of authority that the owner always wore disappeared when hearing everything, she started to blame herself -if only I was there, why did I let him go alone-
In another place two trees started to pierce through the soft ground. Once above ground the trees looked like exact copy's if not for the fact one was a dark brown almost black colour and the other was a light brown almost white. If one was to look closely they'd find that these trees couldn't be described as trees, they looked like war banners. Two parts towards the top of the tree split off from the top and curved up before meeting at the top creating a rough scabbard shape. In the middle of each of these shapes where a thin film of wood that was pinned along the inside of the shape. In the centre of these shapes was a carving of a lotus, one in black and one in white. This pair of trees gained the name of Lotus Banner Trees, taken straight from how they looked, but there is also another name for them, Twin Yin Yang Banner Tree.
