2 Chapter 2 - Gacha System? Scathách?
[MC's POV]
[ Seeing as selected host's brain malfunctioned and shut down, we will initiate the brain rebooting function... ]
"Wait what?! No, no, no, cancel the brain rebooting function!" I shaked my head while saying that, who wants their brain to be rebooted? unless you are retarded then no one would right?
[ Understood, Cancelling brain rebooting function. ]
[ Well then, farewell selected host, the Gacha System Overseer will awaken soon, if you have any question left unanswered then by all means ask the Gacha System Overseer: Scathách. ]
"Gacha System Overseer? Wait Scathách?!" I was shocked, seeing the name of the Overseer. If this is the Scathách i know, then how did she become the system overseer?!"
[ Leaving in 1... ]
[ 2... ]
[ 3... ]
[ Omniversal System has now left, worry not selected host, the Gacha System will replace me in a few minutes. ]
"Omniversal System? Well that system's name pretty much explains what it can do, how lucky would the person be if they get chosen by it," I muttered as I left my shocked state and waited for the Gacha System to boot up.
<10 minutes later>
[ Gacha System now booting up.... ]
"Oh my god... I felt like I just turned into a skeleton while waiting for it to appear..." Boredom was eating me alive...
[ Doomsday countdown: 5d/20h/50m. ]
[ Awakening the System Overseer... ]
[ Would you like to provide the System Overseer some information in this world, host? ]
[ Y/N? ]
"Of course, i'd provide her the information so that will be- AAARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!" I screamed, the experience was akin to that of being dismembered limb by limb while being wide awake.
[ Information Transfer is now completed, the Overseer will now awaken, please patiently wait for a few minutes... ]
"How could you leave just like that?!! Damn it! I still haven't finished my dialogue yet!" I exclaimed, I should drink some water to refresh myself while waiting for the Overseer to wake up.
'I definitely don't want to experience that amount of pain again... Except when it is needed' I thought inside my head, if there was a bookmark option for thought in my head then this thought was definitely bookmarked.
<1 Hour later>
[ Looks like you have patiently waited till i have woken up, quite good if I should say, normally young people like you tend to be a little too impatient. ] Someone in the system said, looks like that is the Overseer... She clearly said that in amusement right?
"You told me to wait for a few minutes but.... DOES AN HOUR LOOK LIKE A FEW MINUTES TO YOU?!! A FEW?!!" I exclaimed, I was genuinely irritated, I could've done so much in an hour! and yet it was wasted!
[ Respect me young man, or else you'll lose your head! ] The System Overseer said.
"Okay, Sorry for losing my cool, I was just irritated that I was told false information, I could've done something much more meaningful in a hour you know?"
[ Very well, Apology accepted. I suppose an apology of mine is in order... That would be what I would say if I didn't know that by meaningful, you mean watch this thing called anime, you are still thousands of years away from successfully fooling me young man. ]
"Hah... Moving on, what do you do as the System Overseer?"
[ To put it into a short sentence, I am the one who controls the system, and by that I mean the rolling of the gacha. ]
"So you could practically just mess with me by controlling what comes out of the rolls right? isn't that too unfair for me?!" I complained, SHE CONTROLS THE SYSTEM, HOW COULD THIS BE FAIR?!!!
[ Calm down young man, you are incorrect. I can control the system but i cannot control the probability, I am just the one who rolls the gacha, if this was a roulette system then I would be the one spinning the roulette but I cannot control the content of the roulette. ]
'Eh? Isn't that.... A useless job?'
[ It is indeed a useless job, and that is why I chose it. ]
"Eh? Why did you choose it?"
[ I didn't technically choose it, I just told the God that offered me to be an Overseer to a thing called the System Project and in exchange he'll kill me, I thought that its the best offer I had ever heard in my entire life but thinking about the word Overseer, it sounded like a hard job. So I asked the God to let me be the Overseer to the easiest system to control, after that, he killed me and I then blacked out. ]
[ I then woke up here in this system called Gacha System, and I must say... It truly is the easiest system to control, I just have to roll the gacha and be on my merry way. ]
'Tch- isn't that just being lazy?'
[ Did you just thought of something bad about me brat?! ] She shouted, tch- is this the thing they call the overpowered womanly instinct?
"Your intuition must've went wrong, I thought nothing of the sort so please calm your anger," I pleaded, damn it! she was spot on!
"If you don't mind me asking then, what is your name?"
[ Were you deaf or what? didn't that assistant of mine tell you about my name before already? ]
'Damn it, can't I just be cautious for once and think of a scene where I called your name and you suddenly tried to attack me and force me to tell you about how I knew your name?'
[ But I must admit, its also very good to be cautious towards a random person so you did a good job at considering some scenes and outcomes ]
"Then Scathách.... Can you Explain all I need to know about the Gacha System?"
[ Finally, a good fucking question.... If you want to access the Gacha System then just mentally say 'Gacha' and it will appear, as you can see on the HUD in front of you, there are 3 available functions. Gacha roll function, Roll history function, and Profile function. There are still other hidden function but they can only be unlocked through special conditions. ]
[ Pressing the Gacha roll function will redirect you to a Gacha, Just say 'Roll' mentally and you'll be able to roll. There's 2 options for Gacha roll currently and more will come soon when you unlock more functions, Option 1 is the Single Gacha Roll which will consume ||1 Basic Gacha Ticket|| for every individual roll, Option 2 is the Basic Special Gacha Roll which will consume ||10x Basic Gacha Ticket|| and it will give an additional Gacha Roll and the drop probability will increase too! ]
[ There are three ways to obtain a ||Basic Gacha Ticket||, First one would be the Daily Gacha Ticket, which means you'll get one ||Basic Gacha Ticket||. Second one would be to kill your enemies or those who the system deem as enemies, in this case... I am the Overseer of the System so it could be very well who I consider as enemies. Although it is not always guaranteed that it will drop, the stronger the enemy, the more chances of it dropping. Third one will be by System quests that I, the System Overseer will occasionally give you, depending on the situation you are in or some situation. ]
"Uh huh... So i suppose i have yet to claim my free daily ||Basic Gacha Ticket|| right?"
[ I applaud you for realizing that, mostly based on the system novels you people have, the main character doesn't realize that. With that being said! ]

"And where is my newbie starter pack Scathách? don't tell me the former Queen of the Land of Shadows is planning to rip this puny young man off?" I said in a mocking manner, Heh... You don't think I won't try to get back at you for making me wait for 1 hour?! Hah! That's where you are wrong Scathách.
[ I applaud you once again for remembering it! but before that... ] Scathách pointed Gaebólg right in front of my neck through the screen HUD, I didn't know she could do that!
'What did I do wrong?! What the hell?!'
[ Speak! How did you know that i was the Queen of the Land of Shadows?! ] As she said that, I looked at her with a deadpanned face.
'So she is more concerned about a stranger strangely knowing her former title than her actual name?! I think she's got her priorities set incorrectly... I didn't think she would be cautious of that...'
"I learned it from a book about you okay?! So calm down!" I exclaimed, she then retracted her speak from my neck, I watched as Gaebólg disappears through the system HUD.
[ Very well, I suppose I can accept that, I didn't think that I, the Great Scathách would be that well known in this world! ]
'Did her character turn into Nero just now?!'
[ Anyways, jokes aside... Here's your starter pack or whatever you like to call it, i like to call it "Pity things" though, just saying. ]
'Whoa... That just hit my soul... Welp, a Starter Pack is a Starter Pack! so who cares!'

[ When I controlled the starter pack to open, it almost took my Gaebólg, I think it was trying to include it to your rewards, so I had to substitute it with an item, so you got the ||1x Radiation shield ]
"Wait what.... NOOOOO GIVE ME BACK MY GAEBÓLGGGGG!!!" When I heard what she said, I swear... I just cried out loud mentally... How could she do this to me?
[ What do you mean your Gaebólg, kid? ]
"I am pretty sure my name isn't kid so if it isn't so hard to ask, can you just call me by my real name?"
[ I suppose that is only proper for me to call you, your real name as you have also been calling me by my name ]
"Mhm, That is right!"
[ So what was your name again? ]

[ What? ] When she said that, the only thing i could do was facepalm.

[ Alright then Zahard, you don't have to sound mad you know? ]
"And you don't have to point your spear at my neck, when I do something questionable in your opinion you know? How about questioning before threatening first?"
[ Hey, it's not my fault that you look like an asshole, to be more specific on what kind of asshole, I think the word was playboy... Yeah that's what they call it. ]

"Hah... Hah... Hah.... What the hell..." I gasped for air after that quick purgatory visit when my head ached, holy shit...
"You can actually read my memories?" I asked, I really didn't see that coming, I guess I should be more careful with what I say next time...
[ Yes, and I apologize for the inconvenience. ]
"Hah... that's fine, I should actually try rolling once, I have one extra ||Basic Gacha Ticket|| After all." I said, as I tried to ease the remaining pain in my head.
I then opened the Gacha System and entered the 'Gacha Roll Function' after that, I mentally selected the 'Single Gacha Roll' Option. The ambient effects when revealing the content of the roll in the Gacha System is really colorful and well... Maybe too bright for my liking.

"I guess this is the right time to use the quote 'Someone's trash is Somebody's treasure!' and in this case, this schematic that those aliens called a failure will be my life saving grace in 5 days." That was truly my entire luck savings going on that one roll though, im pretty sure about that.

[ Well considering that you emptied a week worth of luck then I must say that you have been pretty lucky, although your luck is really pathetic to only draw an item with that kind of rarity from a week worth of luck, Zahard. ]
"I know Scathách... You don't need to shove it to my face like that..."
[ Don't be sad Zahard, I'll make it so that a week worth of your luck will be restored in a day. ] I'm pretty sure she was mocking me when she said that, is my luck really that bad?
"Thank you for trying to make me feel better Scathách, totally didn't notice you were mocking me." I complained, I swear... I'll make you take back what you said about my luck being pathetic.
And so I spent the rest of the day talking with Scathách while watering my plants and watching anime with Scathách, she can see what I can see apparently, so I guess that's good.
