CHAPTER 6

The golden yellow sunlight filtered through Noelle's windowpane resting on her face. Just then the alarm she had set a day prior started to go off. She yawned still sleepy from her rest and made her way to the bathroom.

She brushed her teeth lazily and entered the shower, when the cold water came into contact with her skin she tensed up but quickly relaxed. After the long and needed bath, she scurried off to her closet and grabbed her blow dryer and her clothes.

After she had dried and brushed her hair, she put on some knee boots, a pair of ripped jeans, and a gaming black T-Shirt. Maya had already been awake when she came out of the shower, so that was off the list. She checked the time and it was 6:39 am, she still had a few more minutes before class started, so she decided to make breakfast for Herself and Maya. She quickly made a pancake batter and fried it, they were thin so she took five pieces for herself and left five for Maya.

She poured herself a cold orange juice to go with the pancake. Her mind drifted off to Jason, and she wondered why he had been avoiding her lately. He never left her hanging so why now? She was snapped out of her thoughts by a beep on her phone, notifying her she had received a new message.

Jason had sent her a message to him to meet on the rooftop during the first break. "Still straight to the point are we." Noelle texted back. "Ok I'll be there, but you better not stand me up like you did last time." She texted. "Ok, I won't." Jason texted back.

She yelled out to Maya telling her she had left her some of the pancakes, and that she would be off. She went to class and took a seat near the far end of the window, and pulled out her headphones listening to music. One of her classmates came up to her asking if the seat next to her was taken, which she told him it was not. He took the seat next to her, which she found odd because they barely knew each other. All she knew was he was called Noah Jones and he was one of the smart students in her class.

She paid no mind to the male that was sitting next to her and continued listening to her music. It had been a habit of Noelle's to listen to music while there was no teacher in the class, ever since she was young. The songs she listened to mainly consisted of pop and rock music. She even learned to play the guitar just to play her favorite songs.

After a couple of minutes, Noelle saw the professor heading for her class so she, quickly put the headset away to avoid being lectured by the Miss. She always got an earful when the madam caught her with headphones in her class, so she learned to keep them at bay. The madam greeted the class and continued with her lessons. She was teaching math Noelle's least favorite subject so no wonder she didn't like her very much.

The professor continued with the lessons while Noelle tried her best to pay attention. The lessons continued without the professor knowing Noelle was dozing off in the back because Noah was constantly trying to keep her awake which she was grateful for. The lessons ended with the professor assigning everyone a project partner for the work she had given them. And Noelle's partner was Noah.

"So Noelle what do you think about being my project partner," Noah asked Noelle with an indifferent expression. Noelle was taken aback by the question but she answered regardless. "I don't think much about it, but in my opinion, it's beneficial to me because you're one of the smart guys in class," Noelle said chuckling.

"Ok then where do you meet to discuss the project," Noah said smiling. "How 'bout we meet in the library and grab the books we need, then meet in my dorm to start the work tomorrow," Noelle said.

"Ok then it's settled tomorrow then," Jason said affirming what Noelle had said. They parted ways and Noelle quickly rushed to the top of the roof to meet Jason prior to their discussion. She opened the door leading to the rooftop and there she saw Jason waiting for her.

She run over to him and punched him in the gut. "Hey is that how you greet your best friend," Jason said fake pouting. "You deserve it I haven't seen you in forever and you stood me up," Noelle said annoyed and on the verge of tears.

"I'm sorry ok I didn't mean to blow you off, like I said I was very busy. Could you find it in your heart to forgive me?"Jason said in an apologetic tone. "You know I can't stay mad at you forever," Noelle said. "But next me don't leave me hanging," Noelle said with tears visible in her eyes. "I won't you know I love you too much to leave you," Jason said.

Noelle hugged him so tight that he could barely breathe. "No-Noelle I get that you miss me but you're squishing my organs I might die," Jason said barely breathing. "You earned it don't complain." Noelle retorted hugging him tighter. Eventually, she stopped hugging him and Jason gasped for breath.

The day went by with Noelle and Jason patching things up. Noelle was falling behind in class so she decided to take some extra classes. She walked into the class and was greeted by a bunch of young adults. Some were playing around others were focused on their books and the other fraction of the class were either listening to music or on their phones. She found a seat at the back of the class and went towards it. She saw a girl her age on her phone and sat with her.

"Good afternoon," Noelle said. "Good afternoon." The girl said with an indifferent expression on her face. "You're new here aren't you?". The girl asked somehow annoyed. "Yeah I am," Noelle said politely. "Stay outta my way." She said annoyed. 'Wow someone woke up on the wrong side of bed.' Noelle thought. Upon closer inspection, Noelle recognized the girl it was Olivia. 'My childhood bully great!.'
