91 Peculiar

A new day.

Mia stretched her arms while giving a yawn. She slept late, therefore, she had bags under her eyes.

She felt lethargic.

However, even if that was the case. There was a smile on her lips which seems to contrast the bags under her eyes. She even giggled as though something tickled her.

She got up from her bed and washed her face before going to the kitchen to eat breakfast.

"Good morning mother," Mia said while giving her mother a peck on the cheeks.

Her mother was surprised as her child seemed to be in a good mood. She looked at her daughter's face with appreciation before focusing on Mia's tired eyes.

"Honey, you shouldn't stay late. You'll age faster that way." Mama Hill said while going back to her cooking. Although she said that like she was reprimanding Mia, her lips were curved into a smile.

"Sit down and eat your breakfast, you don't want to be late."

"Hmm. Mom's cooking is the best." Mia said while she munched the food on the table.

"Yes, yes. It's nice when my own daughter can appreciate my cooking. But I want my grandchild to eat these delicious food too. I don't want to be too old before having my grandchild." Mama Hill said while giving Mia a bowl of soup.

*cough cough*

Mia almost choked on the half-eaten rice in her mouth when she heard what her mother said. It has been a while since she nagged about her getting married. Mia started eating faster as she devoured the food in front of her at lightning speed.

"Don't rush or you might choke." Mama Hill said while shaking her head at her daughter's demeanor.

"I don't want to be late," Mia said, after which she bolted out of their house as though her ass was on fire.

Mama Hill looked at the wall clock and saw the time is too early for her daughter's job. She shook her head once again before murmuring to herself, "Well, I don't think it will be long before I get my grandchildren."

Mama Hill hummed a tune while she continued with her chores.

Mia was heading for work using the usual route. She was thinking about what her mother said, and this made her blush. One person popped up in her mind, but she suddenly shook her head and continued walking.

Although it was in the early hours of they day, she felt that something was wrong. Looking around the shopping district, there were a lot of store's which are still closed. It was unusual for the old folks in the town to be late while opening their shops.

"This is odd," Mia said to no one in particular.

Once she arrived in front of the shop's storefront, she saw the doctor talking to someone else.

But this time the person he was talking with was a man with a suit. What was noticeable was the man seemed to be in the midst of persuading the doctor, but the doctor kept on moving his head left to right as though he was disagreeing with the man in the suit.

Mia was unable to hear anything from the outside and the angle of the two made it impossible to see much of their reactions. But one thing is for sure, the doctor did not agree to whatever terms the man set as his voice started to get louder.

In the end, the doctor started to point outside with his finger. It seems he wanted the man to leave the premises. The man took back he was showing to the doctor then left the store with heavy steps while holding on to his suitcase.

Mia observed the man while going outside the store. It only took a few steps before the man got close to her. The man seemed mad as he had a frown on his face while murmuring something incomprehensible. The only words Mia was able to catch were "ignorant" and "you'll see" which did not amount to much if she wanted to get some information from who the man or what his purpose for coming is.

Then Mia suddenly realized something. "Isn't the doctor spending too much time in the shop. It's too early and sometimes we both around at the same time, but since I'm way too early today, I thought the shop would still be empty."

And then it hit her, "Where exactly does he live in?" Mia tilted her head in question. She had known the doctor for quite some time but she had no idea where he lived.
