98 Monster

William had an inkling of what Melissa wanted. He wanted to leave the room without further discussion but he decided against it. He knew he was not going to like it, but he had to try for the sake of her mother. If there was a chance, even if it was only 1%, then he would do it. As long as it was not against his morals, then he would do it. He looked at the woman in front of her which he could barely recognize and asked, "What do you want?"

Melissa's face brightened as he heard Williams words as though it was what she was waiting for. She lifted her hand in the air, it was slow yet it gathered the attention of everyone in the room. She was like a maestro that used her hand to spread beautiful music to the ears of her listeners, but what she was spreading was not music nor was it beautiful.

As a matter of fact, it felt stifling as everyone observe this beautiful woman play with people's feelings, but there was nothing they could do but play along with the music that she was composing.

She lifted her hand and pointed her finger, the people in the room waited with bated breaths as they observe what would happen next. They did not wait long as she said one word that resounded in the room, it was neither loud nor soft but everyone was able to hear it clearly.

"You!" exclaimed.

*BANG*

William stood up as he said, "not possible." he banged his hand on the table as he was about to leave. He could no longer talk any sense to the woman in front of her. Her demands were not something that he could give.

But before he could leave the room Melissa spoke some ominous words, "You may not like what I offer but will you be able to face the consequences of your actions?"

It made William stop for a second but he decided to ignore Melissa completely. He was full of hope coming into the meeting but everything was nothing more than wishful thinking. The moment Melissa stepped in the room, he knew everything was doomed from the start.

Once the meeting door was closed and the footsteps could no longer be heard. Scream like a banshee resonated in the room with the sounds of banging and broken things being thrown could be heard. The men in the room could not stop Melissa from her actions, therefore, they decided to leave without giving prior notice to the mad woman. They were afraid that they would be picked as the target.

One by one they left and only Melissa was left in the room. Standing in the middle with her crazy eyes still fiery with rage, hair scattered like a birds nest from all her rough movements, office supplies strewn around the floor, mugs, and cups that were not able to escape from her wrath unharmed. Everything was in disorder, and so was her heart.

She started to bit on her nail while she thought about what happened, what went wrong? She thought she had everything planned and all thought out. She was the one who spread the information all over. Television, newsprints and the internet. She wanted everyone to know, especially William. And she was able to make it so William approached the hospitals' heads, he was the one who set a meeting, he was the one who offered tantamount of money and funds. So what happened? She asked herself while biting her fingernails. She was so caught up the moment that she did not notice the metallic taste that was spreading to her mouth. Was it not enough? Was her bait not enough to lure William to be by her side? Was her mother well-being not enough of a lure to make William leave that woman behind?

Her face started to turn worse as she was reminded of a figure of a woman who was always at William's side. She was nothing but a thorn to her side, nothing went right when she appeared.

That was right!

If she disappeared then everything will fall into place.

Melissa was too caught up in her thoughts and delusions that she was not able to realize herself that she was turning into a monster.
