85 Expectation

William was sitting in front of his computer while checking on the company's overall status. He massaged his glabella as he leaned his head on the chair while closing his eyes. He was trying to relax his tired eyes from staring at the computer for a long time.

He tried thinking back.

How long has it been since he was this busy with the company?

Everything was looking good, all of the departments were running smoothly. Days passed since their date, but William was not able to visit Mia as he was somewhat busy with work. They talk over the phone or chat but he wanted to see Mia face to face. Unfortunately, his work did not allow him.

There was surprising as a sudden influx of customer orders were being ordered from different parts of the country. Sales were looking good as the percentage increased to a whopping 11%. This might not seem big but as there are bigger companies that are competing for market shares, this was surely a huge increase.

Although it was a good thing, the current economy was declining, so the sudden spike in sales was something they were not expecting. The production of the older models has continued as well as the new line of phones that would be released. They are starting to prepare for the marketing campaign for their new product line. The company shares and stocks had a sudden rise in value.

His sister was busy within the country in assisting the production and marketing while his father is still overseas trying to look for a better alternative to the Ford's medical research.

Everyone was busy, therefore, he did not have the gall to complain. It was his responsibility as a CEO of a company, he was unable to run away.

One thing he was baffled with was Melissa. He saw the call on his phone log when he went out on a date. But after that call, she did not look for him or set any kind of appointment. Her secretary would always give an excuse that her boss was busy. Whatever plan or proposal they send Melissa's way was ignored as though it was non-existent. He tried to contact her once in a while to check if she has changed her mind. However, there were no changes for the last couple of days. He was beginning to believe that Melissa was truly busy.

William did not bother looking into it deeply. He wanted to believe in his father's capability to find a better solution. He did not want to deal with Melissa as much as possible knowing she wanted more from him. His current relationship with Mia was only starting to get better. He did not want to jeopardize this by including a third party in their current relationship. Some people may argue that he was still at the stage where he is still pursuing Mia. However, he wanted to show Mia how serious and earnest he was.

William grunted after massaging his glabella as he opened his eyes. He started looking at the files in front of him. He checked them one by one before signing any important documents. He had always been meticulous with everything he was doing. If he can, he wanted everything to be perfect, or close to being perfect.

He was just starting to focus on his work when his phone suddenly rang. He wanted to ignore the ringing on his phone but when he checked it was his sister.

He picked up.

"Hey what's up?" William asked.

"Open your television and put it on the news," Stephanie said in a dire tone.

"Can't it wait? I'll watch it later if it's not too important." William was still looking at the small mountain of documents piled up on his table.

"This can't wait," Stephanie said the channel before hanging up.

William could not ignore his sister as he opened the television mounted on the wall in his office. He changed the channel using his remote.

The angle of the camera changed as they focused on the family. It was inside a private room in a hospital. Pristine white walls with a window. The bed was the more expensive type of hospital bed which was designed for comfort and movement. It can incline at different angles to assist the desired angle the body of the patients wants. It was built for comfort. William could recognize the bed as it was somewhat similar to his mother's bed.

He was looking full of expectation as his heart rate was beating faster.
