94 Dr. Canes

Inside the room.

The silhouette of the two people looked intimate from afar. If one was only looking from the outside, one could even say that they were lovers who are spending their sweet time together. However, the truth was far from it. Brian's attitude was ice cold, his demeanor was like the thousand years frosted ice from the tundra. On the other hand, the woman, Celine was close to despair as her eyes turned moist while her trembling hands tried to reach out to Brian.

In truth, she wanted to lessen the distance that Brian strayed from. She could feel it, in her heart, the person in front of her did not want anything to do with her. It was as if they were nothing more than strangers passing by each other in the crossroad called like.

Celine did not want that. She came back after a long time because she could not take it. She stared at the cold face of the man in front of her. She knew it was her fault to begin with, but her determination for success carried more weight than the relationship she had with Brian in the past.

That's right!

She left him for her own career.

However, at that time they were still young. Her thoughts were simple, "what was wrong with trying to reach out for your dreams." That was Celine's question for Brian. It was her life-long dream. She even vented her anger on Brian who was not able to understand the situation. It was true that they would be separated for a long time, but that does not mean that the relationship would not work.

That's what she thought, that's what she believed.

But time seemed to prove her wrong.

Brian decided to let her do as she wished.

Why?

Because he loved her. He did not want their careers to come between their relationship. That was how much he loved her as he was willing to compromise.

They tried to make the relationship work, but the distance and the time restrictions made it harder and harder to make it work. Their hearts started to wane as the feelings started to falter. In truth, they both tried their best, but it became a burden for both. Without frequent contact with each other made them doubt the relationship.

Especially Brian who was left behind.

The communication became less and less. Even the scheduled time for them to pick up the call made it a burden for Celine. She was too tired and too busy with work that she would forget, or rather she ignored it.

One day, all the suppressed emotions started to bubble up. Brian could no longer bottle up everything inside. He went to visit Celine without telling her. He wanted to surprise her, to ignite their feelings once more. To make their relationship work, he wanted to work harder towards it. This woman was someone he wanted to spend his entire life with. Putting more effort into it was nothing compared to making the relationship work.

He bought a one-way airplane ticket and went for it.

Sitting inside the plane, he was unable to calm his heart. He was thinking of the right words to say to Celine. He was fidgeting his fingers on the small box that he was holding in his hand. There were a lot of words he wanted to say, therefore he wanted to organize them in his mind.

He did not want to fail.

Brian's head was full of memories in the past when he was jolted out from his stupor.

"Brian," Celine said once more who was now standing beside him.

Brian looked coldly at this woman. There were no ripples of emotions that could be seen in his eyes. It even felt dead, devoid of any life. It was not clear if it was hatred or something else. But there was no hint of any warmth. This made Celine step back, unable to touch the man in front of him. She could only look down while retracting her hand which was supposed to hold on to Brian.

She could no longer stop the tears from falling down when she saw his eyes. She was not expecting this kind of reunion. It had only been two years but he had changed so much. She did not know if the man who she loved dearly was still inside this person.

Celine clenched her small fists and remained standing there while facing Brian. She was determined to get him back no matter what. This time she wanted to make it right. She wanted to give it her all because she knew deep down inside, it was all her fault.
