45 Confession

The door opened and one happy dog was barking towards the door happily.

"Mom, I'm home," Mia said as she entered their house.

"Welcome home honey, you have a visitor." Mrs. Hill shouted from the kitchen with a smile.

Mia took off her shoes and entered the house while holding Happy in her hands. Once she reached the living room she noticed William standing in the middle of the room holding a bouquet of flowers.

William with the flowers was brimming with a face full of smiles as he handed the bouquet of flowers to Mia, "For you."

"What is this for?" Mia asked with scrunched up eyebrows.

On the other hand, they could hear the voice of Mrs. Hill echoing from the other side of the room, "I need to go to the grocery, we need some ingredients." She left the house without waiting for their response.

The two were looking at each other, as they both were left alone in the house. Mia gently placed Happy down on the floor and reached for the flowers, "Thank you."

William was thinking to himself, "Thank you Aunty."

Mia looked at William and said, "I still don't know what the flowers are for."

"Uhmm, do you mind if we sit down and talk?" William said while looking seriously at Mia.

Mia was jolted by William's words and headed for a chair to sit down.

William sat across Mia on the couch when he saw Mia was settled down.

Mia put the bouquet down on the side table and looked directly at William. She was waiting for him to start the conversation.

"Mia, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a long time now," William said.

Mia was still looking at William's serious face. She could not interject as she looked at his serious face.

William continued with his speech and said, "I know that you already like somebody else."

Mia's mouth suddenly opened and closed like a fish but William did not let her speak.

"Stephanie told me." His penetrating eyes are staring directly into Mia's eyes.

Mia started to blush when she heard this, unable to understand where William was heading in this conversation.

William continued and said, "But that's not what's important right now."

Mia was thinking in her head that if this was not important, then what was more important?

William who still looking at Mia with a gentle but serious face said, "I know a lot of things happened because of me, you experienced some difficulties because of my selfishness. I did not want to burden you anymore than this, but I still wanted to tell you my honest feelings."

William did not remove his honest and sincere gaze from Mia all this time. He, however, paused for a moment after telling Mia these words.

Mia, on the other hand, was still looking at William with wonder, although he might have lied to her, she did not blame him for leaving the company. Honestly speaking, the people in the company, especially the ladies have been gossiping about her since day one.

Mia had time to think about what happened and in her heart, she thought that William remembered her all this time and gave her a chance to work for his company. She on the other hand, took their friendship for granted and started to distance herself in fear of the gossip people might spread.

William wanted to spend time with her, but she denied him the chance every single time. In the end she could not blame William, he was a thoughtful, kind and caring friend, she thought to herself.

"Mia, I love you." William who was solely focused on Mia said this line.

Mia who was having her own thoughts running in her head was surprised by William's words.

Although she had an inkling feeling in her heart, she avoided it like the plague, thinking that it was all her imagination. This person who was perfect in every way could not fall in love with a simple and ordinary person like her. They were two different people, this did not make any sense, she thought to herself.

William looking at the astonished look on Mia's face made his stomach churn, his palms started to sweat, thinking that it was all a mistake. However, he thought that today is the day and that there is no turning back as he continued saying, "I'm not rushing you to give me a response right now. I just wanted you to know about my feelings and that I am willing to prove to you that I'm serious in courting you."

Mia who was looking at William was in a daze, she looked like a person whose spirit floated out of her body. She felt dull and muddy in the face of the most exciting thing that happened to her in all the years that she has lived as an adult. Someone finally confessed to her, but everything felt surreal. She maybe thought that she was in a dream of some sort.

While she was thinking this the front door opened, "I'm back."

Like a startled bunny, Mia was able to wake up from her daze.

William, on the other hand, stood up and said, "Well, that's all I wanted to say for now. I'll be back some other time." William said this with a smile, although he was smiling, deep down inside his heart wanted to leap out of his chest.

William went to the door and helped Mrs. Hill with the groceries, he said his goodbye and apologized for not being able to stay for dinner, then left.

Mia was left there on the chair, looking at William walking away. She could not even react to a single thing that he said.
