1 Welcome To the DO SYSTEM

"Hello" a smooth, seemingly sad robotic voice tried to soothingly greet. 'It' 'stared' at the small figure huddled by itself in the corner of the small, dimly lit room. Other than the child, the only presence in the room was a floating marshmallow-looking-ball the size of a baby's head. If 'it' had a human form it would be frowning in worry. Despite being ignored 'it' talked again. "You can call me 'Mother'" Silence. 'It' hovered on top of the child then floated towards the child's chest. The almost fading ball of energy warmed the child's heart as it made contact.

"May I know your name?" Mother asked concerned. It waited patiently for the child to speak. "I apologize for the sudden invasion." Mother continued.

Mother knew what his name was, but Mother had wanted to hear it from the child. A voice to Mother was a sign of someone clinging to life. Silence... well, it was... Mother didn't want to think about that idea.

The child didn't look up or albeit the child didn't move. This concerned Mother a little but it knew the child was still 'alive'. Well, as alive as Mother would ever be. The child was better of like this than in that unfortunate soulless body lying beside the child.

Mother asked the child his name once more.

"My child, may I ask you to trust me with your name?"

Mother talked about the weather.

"My child, the leaves falling from the trees are magnificent."

Mother asked what he thinks.

"My child, what will you do now?"

Mother talked about the weather.

"The first snow has come down and the wild animals are hiding to hibernate deep in the woods"

Mother asked if he would accept her to be his companion.

"My child, can I be your friend?"

Mother talked about the weather.

"My child, the flowers have blossomed. It looks beautiful"

Seasons had past and it was already mid-April. Mother sang a lullaby and as she slowly continued with a hum, the boy lifted his head slightly ever so slowly. His face was still covered by the untrimmed hair. The boy lifted his bony right arm and placed his forefinger on the ground. With the lack of care, the room became covered in dust and dirt. The boy's arm moved hesitantly and shakily no longer used to the heaviness of his arm.

'Help' the child wrote clumsily and after a short silence, a tear was seen flowing down from the child's dirty and bruised cheek and onto the written plea.

A bright blinding light emitted from his chest and as fast as he could blink, it was no longer there. "My child" Mother said delightedly. "I gladly will ". Again, the boy was engulfed by warmth from his chest and as soon as he heard the robotic voice, he let go of the last bit of consciousness he had left and slumped on the ground uncaring of the change of his environment.

"Welcome to the DO SYSTEM, my child"
