1 The Park (Prologue)

It feels nice to have Avery inviting me on dates again, it's been a while, and he's been distant. It's a beautiful summer day, but I still hate summer. I hate the long days and how hot it is. It's great weather for a beach trip or a pool party, but it's not like everyone can just go to the beach or have pool parties every single day of summer. It's too hot some days to play outside and most of my plants usually die because of the temperatures. I think it's unnecessary that the heat rises and the days get longer, but I don't argue with mother nature and her plans. Arriving at the park I could see Avery … and someone else? I approached them and started to see the other person's face. It was … the girl he said not to worry about. He looked at me when the girl looked away. We had a short talk, and just like that, it was over. No more dating Avery as he had found love with Jessica. I wanted to feel sad, that's what I was supposed to feel, but I felt … relieved. I'm not sure why even to this day.
