CHAPTER 3

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

"BRENDA! BRENDA WAKE UP! SWEETIE WAKE UP!"

I gasped as my eyes were wide open. I howled and unconsciously grasped my mom's forearm as she brought my head to her chest.

I whimpered in fear, tears streaming down my face. "It's okay, it's okay…" Mom tries to hushed me, I sobbed uncontrollably. Sobs and weeps filled the living room. "It's just a nightmare, ssshhh…"

Mom's caressing my hair, my hands were still on her arm. She was hugging me.

"Hush now baby…. Sssshhhh. Mommy's here. I'm here, don't cry now."

I couldn't stop crying, it's just a nightmare.

I'm literally shaking… I'm terrified… My lips were quivering, I couldn't stop.

"What was your dream?"

"It's a nightmare!" I cried out loud.

"Don't worry you're safe. You're safe in mommy's arm. Calm down… Calm down sweetheart."

After some moments, I've finally calmed myself down. I was now leaning against the couch, my eyes were glued at my fidgeting fingers.

"I'll go get you some water." Mom said in a relax tone before she disappeared from the room.

My head snapped to the colour silver cushion that was still on my lap. An idea struck me.

So I've been here all along, I thought we've left the house already but instead, I'd fallen asleep while waiting for my mom to go down.

Thank goodness it wasn't real.

Pretty soon mom came. "Can you tell me?" Mom asked politely as she offered me the glass of water.

"It's… It's all about us. And it was terrible." I sighed defeatedly. I couldn't look into mom's eyes. My gaze is into space. I'm not comfortable of telling it.

It was horrible.

"I-I thought it was real. The place, the weather, it seems very real." I spoke frantically. "Mom I don't wanna go to school." I yelped and grabbed my mom's forearm and looked straight into her eyes.

"Can you tell mommy what happened in your nightmare?" She asked with pleading eyes.

"I was waiting for you at the living room… With the same outfit and place. Exactly like this…"

"It was still raining when we hopped onto the car… While driving, I thought about my project and I told you that I left it. But then, you said that… That it was on the trunk. So you continued to drive. The rain had finally stop, and I was looking at the billboards. While enjoying staring at those, I was caught up on the sudden sound of a car. And…"

"It's okay sweetie…" Mom gave me a compassionate look. "If you doesn't want to talk about it, I won't insist."

I think I can manage so I decided to continue.

"I freaked out when I saw the car was coming into our direction. You were able to dodge it by swaying down to the other road. You were trying to start the engine since we're in the middle of the road and many of the cars almost bump us. You're struggling to start the engine and another thing caught my attention. There was a huge truck swaying across us, it was out of control. I shut my eyes and leaned against the seat. I… I thought it was our end but then I felt nothing. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. The truck didn't hit us. It crashed onto the wall. I thought we're good not until I saw our car got smashed onto the tree that made the front window shuttered."

"And," I stammered. "Here's the worst part... Your legs were stuck… You told me to get out of the car and leave you behind to save my life before anything else happens. But I refused, instead, I tried to tugged you as much as I could. But I couldn't! It seemed like the more I try the less it's working. You told me once again to get out but I don't wanna leave you. And we're both crying. I can't leave you on that situation. I shrieked….. I froze when I heard another truck was swaying into our direction."

"I screamed and shut my eyes in terror. And then I didn't know that I was really screaming. That I was just having a nightmare."

There was a long paused before someone could spoke up. "It all probably a warning." Mom uttered.

I looked up. "I'm confused. I didn't get what that means."

"It was on purpose."

"Mommy…" I pouted morosely, still hadn't comprehend the idea.

"Be thankful that you've dream something like that. It might be a warning." Mom began explaining. "It was pouring rain that might cause accidents. And perhaps we're one of those." Mom looked at me. "Your dream tells us not to go and stay indoor instead. We're safe sweetie…"

My mouth gape in realization. Now I get it. That dream is an instrument used to canceled our way to my school in able for us to avoid the accident.

"I'll tell your dad about this."

"Thank you mom for explaining." Mom's head bobbed in response.

It's already afternoon, we're having a movie marathon in the living room. I had my popcorn and a soda. My feet was propping againts the table. Mom's with me, she was sitting beside me.

"Your dad will be home at 5pm, he have something for you. Aren't you excited?"

"He got something??" My eyes widen, I was now looking at mom. "For me?!"

"Yes he is."

"Yieee!!!" I cheered and couldn't contain myself from jumping on the couch that made some of the popcorns dropped on the mat. "I'm so excited mom!"

"Slow down."

"I can't! I'm too excited! Yieee!!!!!" I was bubbling with excitement.

"Sweetie…" Mom pleased. "Well then, pick up those popcorns instead."

Ding Dong…

"It's dad! It's dad! I'll go get it!" I shouted excitedly while sprinting in the hallway to the main door.

I could hear mom's footsteps walking down the stairs.

I unlocked the door excitedly. "DAD!" I exclaimed cheerfully and hugged him tightly. "I miss you…"

"Me too." Dad smiled as we removed our embrace.

"Hi honey…" Mom greeted dad who'd just arrived. They exchanged kisses.

"How's our little girl?" Dad smiled.

"I'm good." I replied as I lifted one shoulder. "Mommy said I should be fine."

"Your mom already told me."

"Hmm." I bobbed.

"C'mon." Dad ushered us as he led the way to the dining room.

I positioned on the edge of our long glass table. Dad placed the box in the middle.

"Close your eyes." Dad said.

I shut my eyes and covered my hands with it. I can feel my lips smiling from ear to ear due to so much excitement.

"You can now open your eyes."

I slowly move my hands down to my face. "WHAT?!" my eyes grew wide, my lips were gaped. It's a cute little puppy! Of course it's a puppy! "I—"

I looked at mom and dad, they were holding a camera. I'd just realized that they were filming me. They're both beaming.

"I'm speechless!" I uttered in a high pitch happy tone as my gaze shifted between the two of them.

They just laughed at my reaction.

"I… I don't know what to say." I snapped at dad who was just giggling.

"C'mon honey, keep going." Mom smiled sweetly at me. I looked at her and nodded.

"I'm—I'm so happy…. I'm really happy. It's so cute. He's so adorable."

"Yes he is."

My mouth were still gaped. I couldn't contain my feelings. I held the puppy in front of my face. "You're so cuuuuute! I'm so blissful!"

"You're in felicity."

"Aaaweeeeee thank you daddy." My voice was full of sincerity, I walked to my dad and threw my arms around him.

"You're welcome sweeheart."

"What name would you like?" Mom asked.

"I'm gonna call him….." I paused. "Golden."

"Wow, what a great name honey, that's awesome."

"Thank you mom, hihi! Thank you so much guys. I'm so blissful right now." I uttered gleefully while caressing its head. "I'm so greatful to have you as my parents."
