2 Walking

Maximus was born in a medium size city called Newtown. The city is filled with blue-collar individuals that don't have much cultivation talent or lack the resources to advance in their cultivation. The city is located in the middle of a mountainous region close to the territories still controlled by the ancient beasts.

Today is Maximus's first day of school. The skinny boy woke up from bed early today. Out of fear not waking up on time, Maximus went to sleep as soon as the sun went down the night before. Maximus is a normal size 4-year-old. He has black hair that changes between curly to straight depending on the moisture in the air, very light brown skin, and light caramel eyes. Even at a young age, you can see signs that he will be very handsome in the future.

He got out of bed, took a shower, put his uniform on and walked downstairs. His father, Felipe, is sitting in the kitchen enjoying a cup of coffee, while his mom is making breakfast. His father is waiting to take him to school before heading out to his job as a city guard. On the other hand, his mother works as a low-level concoction expert. While their family is not rich, they are also not poor. They live a decent life and are respected by their community for being moral and hard working individuals.

As soon as Maximus entered the kitchen he greeted his parents. "Good morning mom and dad." They both reciprocate his greeting. His father then asked, "Maximus, as you are starting school today, have you considered what you want to be when you grow up?"

Maximus remained silent after the question. He began to ponder. 'What do I want to do? What do I like? On TV they always talk about the great warriors and leaders of the Alliance, can I be one of those powerful individuals in the future? '

"I want to be the strong," he said.

"Maximus, do you know why we gave you that name?" His mother asked.

"I don't know."

" Maximus means 'the greatest.' We want you to be the greatest you can be. I don't really care about what you pick to do in the future, but I hope that you try to be the greatest at what you do." His father told Maximus with a warm smile on his face. He continue by saying, "I have a lot of regrets in my life. I never cared much about the future. I also never had someone to guide me. I don't want you to commit the same mistakes I made. I want you to be better than both of us."

"Above all, we want you to be happy and that when you grow up, you don't regret your decisions." Said his mother.

after breakfast, his he and his father walked out the doors. Even though Newtown is only a medium-size city in an outer ring planet, about the size of New York City, the city is still full of skyscrapers made up of thousands of floors. In some area of the city, the sky is covered by flying vehicles and hovering buildings.

After walking for 20 minutes, the arrived at a 200-floor tall building, made from a white marble-like material, with golden pattern depicting humans slaying ancient beast carve on the front of the building. The name of the academy is Warrior Academy 227, the only academy in Newtown City.

The father and son duo walked through a pair of automatic white doors. At the front desk sat a young lady around the age of 23. The desk stoop in the middle of the lobby, a lobby devoid of any decoration other than the shiny white floors and a ceiling that hosted the murals of famous warriors from planet Future.

"Welcome, my name is Ms. Noble and I am in charge of all new students. You must be Mr. Magnar and you must be Maximus. It is a pleasure to meet you both." Said the lady at the front desk as she stood up to welcome the duo.

"Hello, Ms. Noble. Thank you for allowing Maximus to come early to school. Due to my shift starting earlier today I had to inconvenience you." Said Maximus' father.

"No problem. I understand. As a city guard, your schedule is sometimes hectic. It's actually an honor to be of service to someone that puts their lives in danger for the safety of the city." She said with a polite smile on her face. She understood that the city guards protected the city from the ancient beasts that sometimes attack the city. While they were not the strongest warriors, they put their lives on the line on behalf of the citizens of the city.

"Thank you for your kind words." Felipe then looked at Maximus and said, "Maximus, greet you teacher. She will be in charge of you eduction for the next 12 years."

"Hello, Ms. Noble." Maximus said while remembering what his father said to him the night before. Once he entered school, a teacher will be put in charge of his class until he graduates from high school. While he will have other teachers that will teach him different subjects, she will be in charge of the development of his class year.

"Maximus, come with me. We should let your father head off to work."

Maximus takes hold of his dad's hand and looks up to him and says, "Dad, I don't want to go. Can we go home?"

His father could tell that he was scared. It's understandable, it's his first day of school. As someone that usually went with his mom to work, he was not used to spending time with other kids his age or being away from his family for more than a few hours. Knowing how his son felt, his Felipe immediately tries to calm his fear. "Maximus, you must go with Ms. Noble. I know you are scared but you need to be brave. Can you be brave for me and go with Ms. Noble?"

Maximus remained silent for a few seconds while trying to cope with his emotions. When he spoke again, a smile could be seen on his face. He puffs his chest out, trying to imitate his father and said, "yes daddy, I'll be brave for you and mommy. I'll become strong and make you proud."

"That's my boy."

Maximus then walked off with Ms. Noble as his father waved him goodbye.
