13 Back To The Basics (2)

Divine Gate Academy had some of the best equipment in the whole of the federation, some were not even available to the military and were exclusive to the academy. One of these exclusive facilities were their training rooms.

These rooms were specially made for the students to get hands-on combat training. Special formation etched golems in different sizes with some that have abilities to attack. These golems were overseen by a technician present at all times and right now was behind the console used to monitor and power the golems.

"Incoming" the technician spoke as broken bits that looked like big pieces of rocks started flying around and clumping together making a golem. As the rocks joined together to form a type of humanoid shape whose head was small in comparison to its upper body and had no legs, a faint red glow appeared on them. Flying around left and right about twenty golems came back to life from bits they were blown into by Robert.

After a few seconds, one by one every golem present in the room flew towards Robert. Bracing himself by spreading his legs a bit and crossing his forearms Robert gave off a smirk and said: "Bring it, pebbles".

Each golem attacked him from the front pushing him back bit by bit. Robert came to a halt after being pushed for a couple of meters. "Deactivating," the technician said as all the golems lost their glow and fell back on the ground as rubble.

"Good job seems like Mr Oliver's training plan worked pretty well. You showed a tremendous amount of improvement." The technician praised Robert. "You are next right?" the technician asked Ella. Ella nodded as she handed him her PDA.

Taking a look at the PDA screen for a couple of seconds the technician handed it back to Ella. "Alright, it's all manoeuvrability exercises for now. Try not to hit the projectiles that come at you. The speed will be slowly increased and every time before it is increased, you'll be notified."

"This is a dangerous exercise so make sure you tell me if you feel anything is off". Simply nodding as she took her PDA back from the technician, Ella prepared for her training as Robert sat back with the technician.

"Preparing, standby" as the technician spoke out loud Ella prepared herself for the incoming attacks. Slowly all the rubble present in the room flew back towards one of the ends of the room. It then equally distributed to all corners of the room while Ella stood at the middle of the room.

"Incoming!", as soon as the technician spoke out, a rock shaped like a long spear flew in Ella's direction. Dogging it Ella started running as a couple more launched towards her.

Evading every attack that came from all over the place, Ella didn't let a single spear hit her. "Impressive," the technician said admiring Ella's agility. "We were trained," Robert said with a shrug.

Meanwhile, back at the empty gymnasium Eric and Oliver were still practising. "Don't force it, let it lose" Oliver commanded again while Eric had his eyes shut. "Concentrate."

As Eric concentrated he could feel that the barrier broke. Opening his shut eyes while jumping out in joy Eric couldn't help but scream "I did it!". "Great job!" Oliver said congratulating Eric who had a bright ear to ear smile on his face now. "For you, this should be more than enough as a starting point, your agility is off the charts. Now for using more of your divine energy."

Oliver slowly walked away and raised his arms causing a big ball of fire form in-front of them. "Use your powers to conjure a ball of energy and once you are done we will be done with your training. Now practise, I'll go and check on the others." Telling Eric about his assignment, Oliver left the gymnasium.

"I have things under control, there is no need to worry," Oliver said keeping his hand on his ear as he walked to the training facility.

In the training facility, Ella was still running away from projectiles of all shapes and sizes that flew towards her from every corner of the room. "Last round, the speed will increase up to a hundred percent!" the technician announced before he started working on the console.

Running around from one place to another as the rocks flew towards her shaped like spears, she noticed that the amount of them seems to have increased. When she started out, not more than two came to attack her at the same time, but now more than a dozen were attacking her at once. Before they also followed a single pattern and attacked her from one direction but by now all of them were random with sometimes more than a couple attacking from the same direction.

The size of the projectiles also seems to have changed now. Some were still the same as the starting, spear-shaped not any longer than three meters while some were bigger. There didn't seem to be any that were smaller but she wasn't very sure as she could only focus on a number of things while trying not to be stabbed by a dozen of these attacks.

"Assignment complete! Shutting down!" the technician exclaimed as all the projectiles lost their glow and fell down to the ground. Heaving out a sigh of relief Ella was happy to have completed the assignment. It was very hard on her but she was able to complete it nevertheless.

As Oliver entered the room clapping, all eyes were turned to him. "Great job Ella! That's surely an A+ job on your assignment, you might actually be the best in the class." He said as he walked towards Ella and Robert.

As Oliver entered the room the technician bowed in front of him before leaving the room. "Eric is still busy with his assignment but looking at you two, it seems you are already done. I cannot grade them until I get the reports from the technician but rest assure its an A+. You people are ready for actual combat it seems."

"Thank you, Mr Llyod!" Ella exclaimed. "The Grand War Games are next week and I have heard Anna is taking part as well… We should really come up with a strategy" Robert said in a worried tone. "I heard Senior Ray and Senior Selena is also taking part this time" Ella replied.

"A lot of promising students this time, you all should try to stand out. It's a secret we are not supposed to tell the students but since you two are my favourites I'll let it slide." Oliver said as he leaned towards the two to whisper in their ear.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN S CLASS!?" Robert screamed in surprise to which Oliver simply gestured him to keep quiet with his fingers on his lips. "But won't this make the event an one in a lifetime opportunity…" Ella nervously commented.

"And that is why I want you all to do your very best!" Oliver said as Ella and Robert nodded with determination.
