17 Learning Inscriptions

---

"Grant me a way out."

Sieg uttered this words and suddenly a bright light covered is body and obscured his vision. These words were the other reward he recieved as he awaken those six inscription patterns. He just remembered it when he was looking for a way to teleport out of this place.

Sieg can absolutely enter the Niwan Palace Realm inside the Incription Land, but he actually supressed this thought since he remembered that his master warned about the speed on which he cultivate. He wanted to have a sturdy if not the most solid foundation he can get before he enter either Foundation Establishment Realm or the Niwan Palace Realm, and in order to do that he needed to get used to his current realm right now and just like his master said: "Let breakthroughs happen naturally."

He also remembered that he spent at least three weeks inside the Incription Lands and he was afraid that he might not be able to join the 2nd yearly sect recruitment if he stayed any longer. The mantra 'Grant me a way in' or 'Grant me a way out' is what he needed to utter to freely enter and exit the Inscription Land. This gave Sieg a huge surprise, it seems like he doesn't need to worry about searching for resources in order for him to progress in his Spirit Cultivation.

As soon as his vision adjusted, Sieg was back again to his room inside the Inn. Since he don't have anything to use to gauge the time in his room, he went to the first floor of the Inn and asked the keeper.

"Excuse me Senior, can I ask what's the date already?" Sieg asked the old man who's sitting on the reclining chair while drinking some beverage.

"Oh it's you. Well, it's already Day 10 day of 10th month. Good thing you gave an advance payment or else I might've let others use your room already…"

"Day 10?" Sieg frowned, he almost can't believe what he heard, but he also knew that the old man was telling the truth. "Alright thank you, oh yeah do you know any place where I can learn about Incriptions here Senior?"

"Inscriptions?" The old man's recliner stopped from rocking back and forth, he looked at Sieg up and down, before saying: "Are you sure you want to learn Inscriptions? From what I can tell you are already at the 9th step of Awakening already and at such a young age too. Seeking another field of learning would greatly detriment your progress. So are you sure?"

"Well, I'm just curious, if I happen to have a liking to it then yes, I'm totally sure. If not, I can always withdraw from it, I'm young after all and have a lot of time."

"Hmm…" the old man was a bit surprised on the way Sieg answered, in his mind he thought 'what a wierd kid', he actually curious about him but it was not his business to meddle to much so he wrote something on a piece of paper and gave it to him. "Go near the City Lord's Mansion, there's a rather…humble…home in there. Find a person named Gin and give this letter to him. You'll see what you want."

"Great! Thanks Senior!" Sieg was overjoyed. He accepted the letter and placed it into his storage bag.

This storage bag was given to him by his master, it also includes 1000 gold and 100,000 spirit stones, his blade and some clothes. The inside of this storage bag can contain about 10 cubic meters of space, which is very handy for Sieg. His master said that the amount he put in can atmost last Sieg for a year or two, and he will not give him anymore, since Sieg is facing a huge trial he needs to take care of his expenses as well.

As Sieg walked out of the inn, the old man rocked his reclining chair again and smile. He then said: "It looks like the Order would have another member then. A young one too. I really am getting old haha."

***

Sieg doesn't have any idea on what the old man was thinking. Although he might be intelligent, and careful, at the end of the day he's still a kid so he's not aware of any schemes or faćades of the older generation. Since he did not sensed that the old man was lying or wish his harm, he trusted him and went to the street where he was supposed to go according to him.

And it was just like the old man said there was a humble home just at the northeast side of the City Lord's Mansion, it was included in the few home's that are still made out of wood. Sieg's felt that there some mysterious shroud covering the this hut but he didn't mind since once again he felt no malice from it.

Sieg knocked at the door of the hut and waited, after a minute of knocking he got no response and knocked again. This time he heard the floors inside the hut creaked a little bit, the sound got closer and closer until the door opened in front of him.

As the door opened Sieg saw a middle-aged man, he looked rugged and his eyes were squinting for a bit, his hair that was supposed to be tied in a bun was messy and his wearing a very loose robe that can almost reveal his upper body.

"Sorry no solicitation allowed…" he said and was about to close the door when he saw Sieg holding a letter. His actions paused when he heard Sieg speak.

"I'm not here for solicitation, I'm here to learn Incriptions, this letter is fro-" before he can finish his sentence, the middle aged man snatched the letter in his hand before he can react.

Sieg was inwardly shocked, he thought that this man must be very powerful since he snatched the letter from him, it had to known that Sieg had a habit of being alert. He may look like he wasn't aware of what's happening around him but that is actually the opposite. Sieg's senses is sharp, if there would be a dagger aiming for his heart, neck or brain, even if it's flying at 75 kilometers per hour, he would be able to react. But the middle aged man snatched the letter in his hands without him noticing any movements.

"Hmm…" as the man read the letter that snatched from Sieg, he sized-up him up and frowned a little bit. His expression was awfully the same as the old man when he heard that Sieg wanted to learn Inscriptions. "What a sly old man he is. Hey brat!"

"Yes!"

"Name's Gin, nice to meet'cha " Gin introduced himself and smiled cheekily at Sieg.

"Goodafter noon Mr. Gin, my name is Sieg, it's a pleasure too meet you as well!"

"Good! Good! What a polite kid! Come with big brother, don't look down on this hut by the way, a lot of people did and they regretted it. Anyways, even though this home is rather shabby we have still have standards for students. Since that old geezer recommended 'ya, I will test 'ya personally a'right?"

"Yes Big Brother!" Sieg replied.

"Good! Come come…" Gin walked forward and he was followed by Sieg, they went even further inside the hut and they entered a room which looked rather old.

Inside the room, Sieg looked at the equipments, some of the are already covered in dust, the same goes for the chair, board and other things. The surface of some equipments are also cracked or something. Sieg didn't mind this too much, he just thought thst maybe there wasn't that many people who are interested in learning Inscriptions these days, and since there exist clans that have Incription Techniques as inheritances, schools for it are no lonher needed.

"Aiya~~ this room isn't being use that much these past few months and I'm too lazy to clean it. Anyways here." Gin handed Sieg a jade disk that's about 12 inched in diameter, there were some Inscriptions flickering in and out of existence on it's surface. As soon as Sieg saw this his eyes sparkled.

"It seems like 'ya know it's use, that saves us time. Watch the content and memorize as many as you can. I'll be back after an hour. Sit anywhere 'ya like. Oh! I nearly forgot, don't step outside no matter what happens, if 'ya really need to, call for me 'kay?"

"I understand…" Sieg commited these informations in mind and voiced his agreement to Gin.

"A'right timer starts now…" And just like that Gin disappeared like a smoke, maybe it was due to his master doing this everytime that Sieg was already used to these sorts of things.

He blowed up some dust from a random chair and he did the same with the desk, he sat down and injected Spiritual Energy to the Recording Jade Disk and a the Inscriptions that are flickering from it's surface lit up.

They flew in front of Sieg and formed a shape of a rectangle. Then suddenly a scene was played. This is the use of the jade disk that Gin handed over to Sieg.

It's called a Recording Jade Disk, just like the name, it can record some certain scenes or important events for a cultivator. The length of the recording may vary depending on what type of jade was used for the disk, basically the more expensive jade the longer it can record.

"Inscriptions existed for a very long period of time already, in fact there existed for so long that it's even older than my ancestor. People often look down towards Incriptions and Incriptionists, they thought that it is a very unnecessary skill. I can't blame them though, why learn Inscriptions when you can learn alchemy? Why Inscriptions instead of Blacksmithing? Why Incriptions instead of Beast taming? Why would I even waste time learning Incriptions if I can't use it in battle? If you are thinking about this then listen closely as the following words that I say might change your mind."

The recording started playing and blurred figure of a woman started speaking. Sieg listened with full attention, he was like a sponge that's slowly absorbing every last drop of water.

As the woman talked, Sieg realized that Incriptions emphasized the intent of 'Enhancing', just like Curing for Alchemy, Creating for Blacksmithing, and Connecting for Beast Taming and etc. The woman said that since Inscriptions were made after the 'Enhancing' intent, it's uses are far more numerous than the other skills.

The woman even said that if a medicinal pill was enhanced by etching a suitable Incription for it then it is totally easy to eliminate it's impurities or even raise it's efficacy for at least double.

Artifact Weapons can only be called an 'Artifact' if it had an 'Auxilliary Trait' and if a blacksmith wanted to make one, they need to include a powerful Inscription as they went the forging process.

When a Beast Tamer issues a command for thier beasts, they actually activate a certain technique which was totally came from making an Inscription move.

She even said that the 'Enhancing' intent of the Inscriptions were so great that they can enhance each other, and when they do an Array would be born. Arrays can be used for almlst anything at this point and the 'Enhancing' intent is still there. It was still not the end of it, since an Array still emits the 'Enhancing' intent from it's predecessor, they can enhance each other one last time, if they did then a Formation would be born.

If one form multiple fire attribute Inscriptions, then they could form a fire attribute array than can be used to supress ice, burn a Fierce Beast to ash, or even form another fire attributed arrays until they're enough to form a Formation. Inside this formation is a world of fire tornados, lava, meteor rains, and scorching wind, the combinations are almost infinite reallyFrom these facts alone, already proved that Incriptions can do many things that other skills could. These facts made Sieg's heart burn in anticipation.
