Chapter 1

The first thing he felt was a shakes caused by his younger sister, who tried to wake him up. Then he woke up and saw the figure of his little sister who has a short posture and shoulder-length hair and a good morning smile that made it seem as if all the brothers in the world would be willing to die to protect that smile.

"Brother, wake up, we might be late to the forest to cutting wood".

Ryouichi got up and immediately washed his face and changed his clothes then prepared to go to the forest with his little sister to cut wood and collect fruits to sell to the central province. Ryouichi lives in a simple house located in a village on the outskirts of the forest in the [Empire] eastern province and only lives alone with his younger sister because his parents died because of the incident 8 years ago. Since then, what Ryouichi had in mind was only how to make his younger sister happy and live happily without problems.

The hot sun slipped through the gaps in the forest trees, where Ryouichi sat resting after cutting wood. He looks lost in thought, thinking about the incident 8 years ago.

"No, I'm not leaving without mom and dad!"shouted a 7 years old boy who next to him was his 4 years old younger sister.

"You have to go now, the monsters will be here in a moment, don't think about mom and dad here!"shouted a middle aged man holding a gun in his hand.

"That's right son, don't think about mom and dad, you have to be able to live independently and protect your sister!"said a woman in subtle words but kept a lot of sadness in it.

Ryouichi, who was pensive, was shocked and his thoughts were shattered

"Ah, sorry Asuka. I was just daydreaming for a moment!"

Ryouichi got up from his seat and brought a pile of wood that he had cut down, and accompanied by his younger sister, he planned to leave the forest to go to the provincial center to sell the wood. But on the way, Ryouichi felt something strange, the day that was scorching hot turned into a dark day and the wind gusts become stronger. Seeing such conditions, Ryouichi canceled his intention to go to the provincial center and rushed back to the village. Arriving outside the forest, Ryouichi realized that the village, which was usually crowded and had gatekeepers, had become empty. When he entered the village, he was startled by the terrible smell of blood.

"Brother, what is happening? Why does it smell like a blood? Asuka displeased by this smell".

"Asuka, you better go hiding. I have a bad feeling about this"said Ryouichi while patting his sister head.

"Okay brother, but pick me up later".

Immediately, Asuka went into hiding, and Ryouichi slowly started walking towards the middle of the village. He was shocked mixed with disgust, he saw pieces of the head, hands, and internal organs scattered all over the place. And he was surprised when he saw a black shadow sitting and he heard the sound of meat being chewed.

"Monster?!"said Ryouichi to himself.

"There was no way monsters could infiltrate here, wasn't the western region already cleared by [The Saviour] soldiers??"

Ryouichi slowly retreated, but he didn't notice that he stepped on a broken glass, and caught the demon's attention.

"Oh ... apparently there is food left there" A shadowy figure stood up and Ryouichi could see his true figure. A monster with a terrible face wearing golden armor covered in blood. The monster drew his sword and intended to cut Ryouichi. but Ryouichi swiftly avoided the attack.

"Heh ... Interesting, there is a human who can avoid my attack besides those damn soldiers"

The only weapon Ryouichi was holding was the dagger he usually carried when he went out into the forest.

"How did a monster get into this [Empire] protected area?!"

"Asuka ! No ... No ... This can't be happening"said Ryouichi with tears in his eyes.

"No ... Asuka ... You won't die ... We'll be together ... We'll eat that soup you made, we'll walk together in the forest again, I promise I won't wake up late again. So please do not go!"
