6 Ink and Paper

Zephyr rolled his eyes at the advance of what had happened. He had learned a lot about his so-called Instructors. Neither of the two were 'normal' by any means.

As for the fact the town would burn, Zephyr couldn't care less. Yes, it was his hometown, but that did not mean he was going to risk his life so easily.

He was just three years old, if he wanted to tell anything to his 'superiors' or grown-ups, it would require tons of reasons as to why he was able to sneak into the Mana Barrier of dangerous criminals.

'In fact, the destruction of the town would open a gateway for me to escape the grasps of the army possibly. Although I wouldn't hate the fact of training under a much more physically demanding place, there are better ways for me to improve.'

In a way, Zephyr's actions would make him accountable for the death of thousands, but he had no other choice. Telling what had happened to Tai would just make him suspicious of his true abilities.

Actually… There was indeed something he could do.

*BOOM*

He kept a serious face as he leaped downwards the cliff. Mana surged out of his body just a few dozens of meters before he hit the ground, it formed a Wind Shell which was going to make his landing seem like a feather falling on the ground.

Of course, this used an extremely enormous amount of Mana so Zephyr's Mana Reserves were currently almost at zero percent.

'Now, where can I find some ink and paper.' A grin emerged from his face due to the successful landing. 'My theory was right I guess…'

This time he coated his legs with whatever Qi he had remaining and dashed forward. The town was approximately a kilometer and some away from this cliff, he could reach it in two or so minutes if he wanted to.

The Post Office was quite empty most of the time. The main worker there typically waited for almost two to three weeks before giving away the letters and postcards he had gathered.

The worker was a scrawny young man, close to his twenties. No one ever worked for the post office unless they were very desperate.

He had nearly fallen asleep from the lack of work and the fact he usually never got interrupted by anyone when he took a nap.

*SLAM*

"I need some paper and ink quickly!"

"Eh?"

~~

Despite finding the paper and ink he so dearly wanted, Zephyr also made sure to smack the poor worker so hard he would forget about what had happened and just think of it as him taking a nap.

Then he wrote about the situation, making sure the way he wrote was not similar to his usual one. That would give Tai some wary when looking at him.

Ultimately he had used Qi to throw the paper as hard as he could, straight into Tai's chest from a fair distance to cover his appearance.

This would solve a bit of this issue for now.

~~

Tai Balku was not having a very good week. First, he was smacked by Zephyr, then he had to listen to Belinda ranting for hours and Li Xiao making fun of him.

How the mighty had fallen…

His senses went haywire and he tried to jump backwards, but he was too occupied with holding the books in his hand. The 'item' slammed into him.

He sweated as he saw the paper slowly fall into the ground.

It was a message covered in weird characters. A Coded message. Tai wasn't really good in deciphering the meaning of them...Fuck it.

Li Xiao was the one who was responsible for this back at his division, perhaps he would know what this meant.

~~

"Arlo."

A glint entered the eyes of the man who proclaimed he had fought Li Xiao to a standstill.

Arlo glanced at the direction his name was called, anger visible in his eyes. Dealing with his subordinate was rather annoying.

His facial expressions immediately changed noticing who he had just grown angry at.

"Sir…"

He immediately started to kowtow to the man in front of him who was coated in dark clothes. It was quite obvious he was very scared of him.

"The King wishes for you to continue your actions. This dirty kingdom will soon fall to the might of our organization." The man's facial features were not really visible, but you could see a tiny bit of his dark skin.

"Yes! I made my subordinate work on total annihilation of the entire town. There have been some delays, but by next month this town should be done for. I made sure that the blame will go to the Barbarians as well."

Arlo spoke while trying his best not to show his fear. The person before him was a Seated member of the organization. A subordinate of an Unseated like him did not even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

"I see that one of the scariest members of the Kingdom is here. Tai Baltu is scary indeed for some, but to me is just mere trash. Here, take this." The cloaked man revealed a gloved hand while throwing a potion at him.

"This was made by a Rank 4 Alchemist, one of the best products this kingdom has ever seen. It ought to be more than enough to make that ant escape in fear of dying."

Alchemists were similarly divided into two branches. The Qi Branch and the Mana Branch. The alchemy was truly different when one used Mana and when one used Qi.

For one, Alchemists of the Qi Branch used Qi Flames to concoct pills while the Mana Branch only typically made elixirs.

A Rank 4 pill would require just a day for the average Qi Alchemist of said rank, and when the Mana Alchemists tried to make a pill… They'd take weeks.

The difference did not just lie there, but that was the most talked out one.

"A Rank 4 potion …" Arlo's hands shook, almost dropping down the bottle containing the liquid he would need to defeat Tai just in case they fought each other.

"Also, the King told me to tell all foolish people like you one thing… If you mess up this, your higher-ups won't be able to save your asses."

*Gulp*
