Birthday Party 3

"I'm sorry, but I must decline your invitation." Snow White said for the fifth time this evening.

She found the attention pleasing and with every invitation she upped her standards. How could she not know that she is the prettiest girl in the room, meaning that she deserves the best dancing partner.

She looked over the boys lined up to invite her, about to pick the most handsome one until she spotted something quite interesting-an outlier.

Next to the banquet table she saw a boy with his back turned towards her, completely uninterested in her at all. But... wasn't she the most beautiful girl in the room?

If that is true then why is he talking to another girl? He even bowed a kissed the girls' hand, his act so perfect and refined it made the princess unable to look away.

-Back to Adam and Isabel-

"So, are you going to invite me to a dance or not?" Asked Isabel boldly.

Adam was about to decline since he had no idea how to dance and didn't want to make a fool of himself, until a certain someone came to his rescue.

*Unable to dance? You're kidding me. You know what, let me fix that for you!* Loki spoke inside his head.

Adam blanked out for a second before years of dancing experience entered his head. His body now felt loose and free, as if someone had cut the chains that were restraining him.

"Would you do me the honour of being my partner, Miss Isabel?" Adam said and held out his hand.

Isabel giggles while taking his hand and he leads the both of them to the dance floor. Their exchange was being watched by every girl around them, all of whom wished to be in her shoes.

The first dance went smoothly and the young duo took the spotlight as Adam led Isabel the entire dance, the latter shocked at his ability.

Once they finished he made his way back to the banquet table with Isabel by his side. As they approached the banquet table, the previous empty space was now full of young nobles to Adam's surprise.

*How did it get so crowded since I left?* Adam thought with a frown.

His question was immediately answered when he spotted the princess in the middle of the crowd, who was looking at him dead in the eye.

He followed his dad's advice and turned his back to the group who took his spot. The moment he did that Isabel ran into him because of how sudden his movement was, making the girl's face turn red as their cheeks touched.

"Excuse me Isabel, it seems that this table is crowded so I'll move to another."

She looked at the table and saw what he meant, deciding to follow him.

"Pardon me ladies and gentlemen, but I must excuse myself for a moment."

Snow White said to the group around her, a message they all understood as her needing the toilet and so didn't follow.

Adam found a table with barely any people near it, this one on the other side of the hall. Once he arrived he noticed Isabel behind him but didn't mind, the only people she would attract are her friends which Adam had already met.

"Pardon me."

Adam bumped into someone as he took a step backwards but immediately cursed his luck when he saw who it was.

"It's alright, Adam, that is your name right?" The person he bumped into was of course Snow White.

"That's right your highness, though I'm curious as to how you know the name of someone like me."

Adam bowed to greet her and this was copied by Isabel who moved to Adam's side.

"I noticed you dancing, and so I asked about you. You're quite the skilled dancer, even the adults were impressed."

"I don't deserve such praise your majesty."

"Please, call me Snow White."

"I can't do that your majesty-" Adam said with a little sweat going down the side of his face.

"That's an order." She cut him off with a smile.

"As you wish, Snow White."

Snow White's smile got wider when Adam referred to her by her name, only now noticing the girl by his side.

"Oh, where are my manners? We haven't been introduced, have we?"

"No, we haven't your majesty. My name is Isabel Anderson." Isabel said with a fake smile.

"Oh, Duke Anderson's daughter right? Well it is a pleasure to meet you."

Isabel noticed how Snow White only let Adam call her by her name, intentionally not giving Isabel that right.

"How lucky of you Isabel, to have such a handsome dance partner. I wish someone had invited me for a dance as well."

Isabel saw what the princess was trying and didn't want Adam to get close to her.

"That is quite shocking your majesty, so none of the men surrounding you asked to dance?"

"It's not that they didn't ask, but they seemed to have ulterior motives. Also, I doubt any of them to be any good at dancing." Snow White said while looking at Adam, obviously trying to get him to invite her to dance.
