10 CHAPTER 9

Today goes by in a blur. It's as though the time is also eager about my date with Josh. School is boring as usual but with Ivy and the twins there,it was manageable. School is over and as usual the boys drive me home.

     "Hey A, remind me again why we aren't busting the drug dealers today." Dan questions.

     "That'sbecauseIhaveadate."I mumble.

     "Excuse me but I didn't catch that." Dan says with a smile on his face.

     "I think I almost heard something about a date." Dave teases.

     "Shut up you two." I say, whacking them both on the head.

     "Owwwww!" They both yell, rubbing their heads.

     "Sooooooo...what's his name?" Dave wriggles his eyebrows at me.

      "Josh." I reply

      "Ouuuuuuuuuu...Ana and Josh sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes marriage and then comes babies and—" The boys sing.

      "Okay shush, please. I beg you." I beg

When the car comes to a stop I don't hesitate to jump out.

    "Bye guys! Thanks again."

    "Kissy lipsh." Dan says and puckers his lips at me.

I flip them off and I hear them laugh.

   "Hi guys." I greet Candace, Aaron, and Tyler.

   "Hey Ana." They reply. 

   "I'm going out in a bit and I'll be back around six-ish or seven-ish."

I change into white crop top hoodie, gray skirt,and white Adidas shoes.

I look over at myself in the mirror and smile.

I hope Josh will like my dressing.

    "Wow, you look amazing." When I reached the restaurant we were supposed to meet at, Josh noticed me and came up to me.

    "Thanks."

    "Please sit." He says pulling a chair out for me.

Josh orders for me and we have a great time. I find out a lot about him Josh but when he asks about myself I feel bad for lying about him. I tell him the same lies I tell everyone. The only truth I have  spoken so far is the fact that I am an orphan.

The dinner was very successful. Josh and I have some stuff in common, according to the real things I told him about myself.

      After the dinner, Josh was taking me home in his car when I noticed the car that was following me when I was going to the restaurant was following us again. Sensing danger, I told Josh to pull me over at a house.

    "Thanks for the awesome dinner. I'll see you at school tomorrow. Bye!" At this point I'm jumping out of the car and running towards the house. I'm pretending to enter the house, but turn instead to wave at him so he can drive off. When he drives off, I turn and run towards the nearest alley and wait.

     "Turn around girl!"one yells at me.

When I turn around I notice that they are two thugs holding knives. They are heading towards me threateningly. One tries to land a punch but I block it, kicking him. I punch the other one in the nose when he tries to stab me. I take out my gun and shoot them both in the leg. I reach for my phone to call the officer for him to take these guys in for questioning when I realize that I don't have it.

Shoot! I must have left it in Josh's car. Should I just go up to the house I was pretending to be mine and ask to use their phone?

  Having no other choice, I did just that. I ring the door bell and waited.

     "Yes?" An elderly woman answers.

     "Uhhh... hello ma'am. I was just wondering if I could borrow your phone to call my mom?" I ask.

    "Sure dear. Here you go."

She hands me her phone and I call the office that helps my agency.

     "Hello Officer Ross, this is Agent Anaise calling. I'll text you an address now. Come pick up some two thugs and take them in for questioning." I direct when I'm out of earshot.

   I text him the address and wait for him to come. When he comes, he puts the groaning men in his car and come over to me.

     "Hey Agent A, are you okay?" He greets.

     "Hey,Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for coming. Those men attacked and I want to know who sent them and why."

     "I will question them and call you, okay?"

Before I could reply, I hear my name.

     "Anaise? What are you doing here? Is everything alright?"the voice questions.

    I turn around to see Josh staring at me and the officer,with my phone in his hand.

     "Yeah everything is fine. Thanks for getting my phone back. Let's go." I say, dragging him away from the scene and into the car. Before I enter the car though I look at Officer Ross and nod my head at him.

The silence in the car is comfortable for me because I'm deep in thought when my thoughts get interrupted by Josh asking me, "What happened back there and why did you lie about your house?"

    "Oh it was nothing, really. Just some guys trying to rob me but the officer came just in time to help me. And I didn't lie about my house because when I told you to drop me at that house I didn't say that place was my house." I correct.

    "You are right though."

When we arrive at my house, he looks nervous.

     "Anaise?"

     "Yeah?"

     "I... uhhh.... wanna ask you something." He is so nervous that he is rubbing his neck.

What's he so nervous about? He looks so cute when he is nervous. Ha.

     "Shoot."

     "Wouldyoubemydatetoprom?" He mumbles.

      "Didn't catch that."

      "I said....... would you be my date to prom? He finally says with a hint of pink on his cheeks.     This is all too cute so I laugh.

    "Sure I'll be your date to prom in three weeks time." I say, smiling at him. I stand on my toes and give him a peck.

       "I'll see you at school tomorrow." I run to the front door and watch him touch his cheek before entering his car and driving off with a goofy smile on his face.
