18 CHAPTER 17

Prom is approaching really fast. Boys have started asking girls out already. Surprisingly, Dan asked Ivy to be his prom date and Dave asked Janice to be his prom date. I'm so happy for them. Josh and I are cool. Even though we don't have a label to our relationship, we have each other's back.

School has become a little bearable since Janice and Josh joined our 'squad'. It's really hard to prevent Janice from spilling our secret to Josh. She keeps on making comments about her lipstick taser or something else spy-ish. Maddie and her dummy entourage are still as infuriating as ever.

Something happened today, that left me shattered. After school, I stayed behind because a teacher asked to see me. I walked down the empty hallway when the teacher dismissed me, and turned at the corner where I saw Maddie kiss Josh. As an Agent, I always trained to be strong. I even had a reputation as being an agent without a heart. I never got emotionally attached to anyone when I went on any of my previous missions. The scene in front of me is the reason why I don't get attached. Even though the kiss was short and Josh pushed her away, it still didn't soothe my wounded heart.

"What are you doing here, prick?" Maddie is smirking at me, which causes Josh to turn around with wide eyes when he see me.

"Naise?! This isn't what it looks like. She forced herself on me. Please believe me!"

"Did I ask anything? Besides it's not like we are together so you don't have to answer to me." After saying this, I turn on my heel and walk away, wiping a tear.

"Anaise! Anaise!! Please don't go. It's not what you think." Josh cries after me.

You won't cry over what was never yours. Stay strong and keep your head high.

I jump into a cab and direct it to my home. I hear Josh call my name but I don't listen. I just wanna be alone.

                        !¡!¡!¡!¡

Back at home, I go straight up to the room. It's a good thing that Janice isn't home because immediately I hit my bed, my tears fountain broke. I cried and cried and cried and cried. I cried my heart out. Later, when I couldn't cry anymore, I changed into some slacks and a tank top. I tie my hair in a ponytail and put on some sneakers. I'm gonna hit the gym.

(She is in the gym now)

I feel bad for the poor guy that I'm attacking now. When ever I cry, I need to release stress so I fight.

I just need to take my mind off Josh. Ivy has been calling me for a while now but I'm not picking up. It seems she informed the others that she hasn't been able to reach me for four hours because they all try calling me. I have my hand on the guys shoulder, about to flip him when I hear my name.

"Anaise! Leave that guy alone! You'll hurt him." Ivy's voice pleads out to me. Dave separates me from the guy and pulls me into his chest.

"What happened? You only fight like this when something is wrong." Dan asks me.

"Josh." That's the only thing I'm able to say before the waterworks start up again.

"Awww! Shhhhh don't cry. Tell us what happened." Ivy persuades me so I tell them everything that I saw.

"I'm gonna bust his head!" This outburst is from Dan.

"Yeah! I'll come with." Dave supports his brother.

"Guys there's not going to be any busting of Josh's sweet head." I foil their plans.

"Oww shoot!" Dan and Dave exclaim.

"I just need to hear him out first. Besides if what I saw was right, then she kissed him and he couldn't get away from her fast enough. It's just that it hurts you know.

There were replies of:

       "Yeah." From the boys

"It hurts I know." From Ivy

"Tell me about it." From Janice. No surprise there.

"Come on. Let's get out of here."

I'm taken home by the people I've come to rely on a lot. Yes, even Janice. I just wish that we met under different circumstances. Sometimes, when I look at the friends I have, then I wish I weren't an undercover agent that would leave these wonderful people.

I take a long, long shower. After my shower, Candace yells for me.

"Ana darling, come down now!You have a visitor."

I go downstairs to see Josh at my doorstep.

"Hi. What are you doing here?"

"I came to say that I'm sorry. I know what you saw might have looked back, but let me explain."

    "Carry on."

"I was going back to class for something when Maddie cornered me. She wouldn't let me go till I explained why I stopped hanging out with her anymore."

"And what did you tell her?"

"I told her the truth. I told her that I like you and you are a great person. Before I could comprehend what was happening, she kissed me. Then you saw the rest. I would never do anything to hurt you. Believe me."

"I believe you but I'm a little hurt right now. But don't worry, we cool. Thanks for coming over. Good night." I turn to walk back inside when I felt him wrap his arms around my waist. It felt so natural, so perfect.

"Be my girlfriend. Let's put a name on our relationship. So what do you say, will you be my girl?"

Turning back so I could be facing him, I reply, "Yes, I'll be your girl." I grin up at him.

"Thank you so much." He leans down to kiss me. It's a short kiss, but it's full of promises. Promises that I know that I'll not be there to see him fulfill.

    "Good night Naise."

    "Good night Joshua."

He walks back to his car, starts the engine, but before he speeds off he looks back at me and blows me a kiss. I catch the kiss and pocket it.
