1 Ex Nihilo

I never truly believed in the phenomenon of which we humans referred to as "Light at the end of the tunnel." Exclaiming we saw the pathway to heaven, half dead, nothing more than a body bag.

Yet here I am, staring at the blinding light that has bewitched me.

Is this the so called 'tunnel'? Why is a person such as I, deserving of such holiness?

The very last thing I remember is killing myself.

I wonder. Why have I been placed at heaven's doorway, when not only have I killed, but yet also killed myself?

Did I commit an existential deed, that outweighs my 'sins'?

I wasn't always being kind, and I would never ever say I was a benevolent man. I was a broken tragedy.

But then again, that is from my own personal prospective.

Anyways..

Since it seems I wont wake up anytime soon, instead of slowly gravitating to this white light, I might as well walk toward it.

This journey seemed to take eternity. I half expected a choir of children, draped with white clothes to appear and sing angelic hymns. Beckoning me, to what I had hoped for was heaven.

Instead, the vision that supported me has turned bright red as sound assaulted my now sensitive ears, that were once laced with the remnants of the void of endless nothing.

I tried to open my mouth and speak, yet the only thing that escaped my throat was a raspy groan.

The muffled voices became slightly clearer, as I made out a "..He woke up! Quickly get to work everyone!"

...Wait.

I guess normally I should be thinking in the lines of "Shit, what's happening now?"

But strangely, the only thought that seemed to escape my mind was 'So those people in the commercials aren't lying, maybe I should work for the Jehovahs Witness.."

Shiver.

...Let's not think about that anymore.

Assessing my situation in a rational adult-like manner, I noticed, first of all, that wherever this place is, I understood apart of the language. That's a good sign.

After that, I opened my eyes painfully as I slowly was bombarded with colors and figures that struck my retina.

It took sometime for my clouded eyes to get used to the light.

The doctor, or so it seemed, had a not so-appealing face, with long graying hair sprouting from both head and chin.

I swear on his old life, that his glasses are overly thick. I can almost guarantee you they're bulletproof.

I'm shameless enough to swear on his life and not mine.

The strange thing was, that he not only looked like a freshly plucked beet root, but that the place I was born in seemed to be a vintage hospital room.

I seemed to have been sleeping in a bed accompanied with gray handles on its sides, of which I grabbed onto to pull myself up, because not only was the room accompanied with annoyingly pale lights embedded into the ceiling, but also because my arms felt weak due to being hooked up by IV tubes.

I looked around and saw the female who grabbed onto the hand I clutched the railing with..

Taking a few more seconds to look at her, I admit, she's a beauty. Rather than a glamorous woman, she seemed to have a bright and gentle smile that permeates motherly love. Is this why babies are attracted to their mothers?

I peeled my face away and looked to my right to barely make out the person who I assumed was her husband by the idiotic grin, and teary eyes he gazed at me with.

He immediately said. "Hey Little Isaac, I'm your daddy, can you say dada?" I glanced around to see both my mother and the doctor, roll their eyes.

My mother managed to scoff, "Honey, stop talking to him like he was just born."

'..Who are these people? Why does this place seem so outdated? He just called himself my father, and she seems to be his wife..' My thoughts managed to utter, as they blurred.

Glancing at my hands which I turned palm faced up, there seemed to be no trace of the callouses I have obtained throughout the years of battle and training, nor of the scars that plagued my hands.

I quickly looked away and onto the man.

I took a closer look at my 'father' and I could see why my 'mother' was attracted to him. Despite the few loose screws he seemed to have, for treating an adult like a newborn baby, and expecting that baby to articulate a two syllable word.

He was a very average looking man, with a clean shaven square jawline that complimented his features. His hair, a very enveloping black color and ashy light gray eyes, while his eyebrows were fierce and sharp.

"D-Doctor, he's not talking. Isn't he supposed to be talking?" I heard my mother's voice.

Wrapped up into my own thoughts, I barely heard her say this.

'I seemed to have transmigrated into a body..'

By the time I finished lamenting on my sorrow luck, the doctor finished checking me ou.. looking at me.

"It's only normal that he's quiet and confused. He just woke up after being in a accident. I have plenty of other cases to attend to, please excuse me Laria, Rey. Let me know if anything happens to Isaac."

"Now, don't push it, Isaac. The wounds are freshly healed, they can open again.." Bulletproof Glasses ended with, before leaving the room.

"..Yeah.." My hoarse voice replied with.

I turned to look outside the window and instantly regretted it.

..Ugh.

I figured the place I was stuck in was, hopefully, a place in the world from my past. That is until my own actions proved my hopes wrong.

There was only one moon in the sky, where the world I inhabited had two.

Ugh, I apologize for questioning your certification as a doctor, 'Bulletproof Glasses', it must've been a cultural hairstyle.

Not only that, I just couldn't help but cringe due to the throbbing pain in my head. It seems the original owner of this body is passing his memories to me.

...

The following couple of weeks were a new kind of torture to me. I had little to no control over the aching pain in my head, except for sleeping about. But even that got tiring quickly. I realized all too grudgingly that I have little control over this body's pain.

But after a while, the migraine passed, and I unlocked the original host of this body's memories. While both of our planets were named Earth, there happens to be major differences between the two places.

On the dystopian Earth I was from, I was from a kingdom like country, with technology far surpassing the world I seem to be in.

Bladed weapons, related to swords, spears were a commonality which advanced in technology through out time. Yet here, such things seemed to have died out centuries ago.

I exhaled a sigh of disdain as I looked into the mirror.

This body, Isaac, seems to be.. slightly below average in looks, and has a body similar to that of a dutch woman.

With black messy hair, cloudy round eyes, and skin that permeates a yellowy-pale color, I couldn't help but sigh again.

Putting shame to the well built large adult body of my past life, honed from the extensive battles and training I went through.

It can't be helped, the world here is far more peaceful, and conflict-less, than the world I used to be in.

Compared to the me before, this body is solely reliant on instant ramen, and unhealthy junk food to survive. Kind of disgusting if you ask me.

I felt another sigh come up deep from the insides of my chest.

"I really turned into this loser, haven't I? Couldn't I at least transmigrate into a pretty boy?"

'He also ordered this virtual reality capsule at the store, and got into a hit and run accident on the way home.' I walked towards the capsule, running my hand across the sleek design of it.

'Putting the family into debt to play a fantasy VRMMORPG on the day of release, is also a bit sad and having to work manual labor because of a stupid decision like that, is also a bit sad. But I'd rather have some fun before I get into the shit this body left me with..' My thoughts said as I started to get into the capsule.

I took a deep breath and got as comfortable as I can in the capsule. It was the cheapest of its kind, costing $9,000, yet it was still uncomfortable.

Prepping myself, I took a deep breath and started the game. Immediately feelings my real world consciousness shift into the games'!
