5 Chapter 5 Vows

I've been able to understand what all the other titles mean. But this... This is insane.

"... Summoner of gods?" The pope backs away from me and looking at the machine. I remove my hand from the scanner and wait for everything to vanish, then place it back to see it again. Everything was the same. Two names, two ages, two odd blessings, undetermined magic quality and multiple magic quantities, blood magic and black magic, two known elements and three unknown. Still a vampire, still a blood mage, and still a disciple of blood. Still a summoner of gods.

"What the fuck is all of this nonsense?" I mutter.

"Wait, you think it's nonsense?" The pope says.

"What else would I call this!? I didn't ask to be a cheat!"

"... Is that so..." The pope lets out a sigh of relief. "Well... In any case you will be registered to the academy next season. You should start training yourself up in the next two months before then. Since you will be taking an entrance exam as a mock battle."

"... Uh..."

"I hope to see you there, ' Cresel Stinger'." He called me by my old name. He then snaps his fingers and the attendants switch places to hand me the staff and book she held. The stones on the staff were black and clouded until I touched the staff, they instantly turned crimson. "... A blood mage indeed." With that the pope and his attendants leave. I am now left with a confused and still broken hearted Edward Sanderson.

"... I got a Vampire with two names and a bucket load of nonsensical scrap on top of his power just because he's that blood churches disciple..." He's muttering to himself.

I'm kind of nervous to ask him what he thinks after that conversation with his pope. "... Umm... Eddie?"

In an instant he grabs my cheeks and picks me up a few inches off the floor. My mouth partly open from the force. "You don't really drink blood, right? You don't have any cravings or anything? And that necromonger thing. Do you know what that is? Wait that's a dumb question, of course you know with all the damn books you read."

"Uh... Eddie... Sis kinda hurts."

"Hm?" He looks at me completely lost in thought about this. "Ah. Right. Sorry."

He puts me down and tussles my hair. I am thoroughly confused with how he's acting. Does he not remember what my name was as the blood priest? If that's the case I hope I can keep it that way.

"... What... Should I call you now? The pope is calling you by your disciple name yet... What the hell??"

And... He is more confused. I sigh at him and give up questioning him about how he is now. I walk to his side and look him in the face. He looked like he was about to cry. Urgh. Come on. The puppy eyes? Really? Your a grown ass man. "Eddie. I don't mind you calling me Treven. And I don't really care about all of that stuff you asked me earlier."

"... You sure? You've been stuck inside every day wishing you could go outside in the daytime." Is he being a smartass right now?

"I told you my reason for that. Rather than being a Vampire, being a blood worshiper seems a bit more crazy for a kid my age isn't it? Do you really think I'd be taken in as easily as you took me in by the rest of the world?"

"Stop being so philosophical! It makes me feel stupid!"

"You are stupid." Ah. I did it again. And now he's really crying. One of the maids rushes in and looks at him like he's an idiot.

"What happened, sir?"

"He said I was stupid!"

This fucking... Man child!! I completely forgot how big of a fucking baby he was when I tell him something so straight forward. How the hell did I forget that!? After holding back my anger, I sigh with the maid and give up. He won't change, no matter what is told to him I guess. After living with the guy for so long you'd think I'd have known this better than anyone.

"Master Treven. I will take him back to his room and straighten him out. This man really is stupid though isn't he?"

" MARIA!! Not you too!!"

"come on, master Edward. Get some rest now, master Treven."

"Uh... Yeah. Okay."

"Ah!! You better be ready for the next few months, you brat! Imma train you so hurt you'll beg to be spared from the hell I'll put you through! I'll make sure you crack one of these days!"

... What the fuck? I'm going to bed. That was too weird.

I look to the book the pope gave me and hold the staff up next to it. The book had nothing worth reading since I already know the contents of it are crap. I think for a moment then decide to look to the first page. It had a different vow in it than what I was use to hearing around the church. It took my interest for some reason as I read it aloud.

"We make a vow with our blood to stay true to the teachings and follow our gods rule;

As we humble ourselves to the world and teach them just the same."

The staff soon glows dimly and resonates with my pulse. I felt strange. Like something just took hold of my heart with a cool chain. It sent chills down my spine but soon grew warm and comforting. Almost completely welcoming. I look to the stones crimson color as it become like an eye looking back at me. It came to life just now. Uh... "... Hi?" The 'eye' blinks and stays staring at me. Holy shit, that is creepy. Fuck it. I'm done. Imma sleep and think about it later.
