17 Fight between Alphas

With the helmet, I could see distinctly in the dark.

The roars I heard were resounding and bone chilling. Knowing this, I sort of hoped I was deaf so I could have a respite from the fear rapidly engulfing me. Of course, I was just letting my fear talk, because I would rather hear those loud roars so I could apply the "adrenaline rush", dodging fallen branches and snatching a few, storing them as I went along. I ran for my life, unwilling to give it up.

"Faster –  sh*t! So slow!" I shouted, leaping from the tree, landing far below, since the boy was much lower, he had a reasonable head start, but sadly I caught up instantly as I landed. The boy, now fallen behind, followed my lead, increasing his speed.

Trying our best to escape from the among the trees, as well to continually seeking to get as far away from the ongoing fight as possible.

I cursed those students and this slow ass meat shield.

I can't let him die uselessly. If the alphas killed him now what would be the use? They merely view us as mere ants right now.

"Oi, boy – be careful... Hey to the left... Lower... Right... Right.. Dodge to the left... Alright, stop there... Good! Run for your life.."

Helping him out would be better, this will ensure he lives longer and can be put to better use.

Finally, free of the trees I dodged a ball of fire, then a wind blade as the sound of battle filled my ears. I escaped to safety followed by the boy who seemed to suddenly become more agile and alert.

I guess he is one of those types.

After a little over an hour I finally could breathe a sigh of relief. F*ck that was a damn disaster! Why would they fight now?

Shrugging after a while because I didn't know and had no need to know, just survive this exam, I fixed my gaze on the two, watching as they fought.

I struggled not to laugh because they suddenly reminded me of a cartoon series I used to watch called Pokémon, where they would battle with their trainers.

Except these things would die, and I'd die, and even if they had traits like them and I really, really, realllly wanted to catch one I knew in my heart I'd be squashed like a bug and I was not strong enough.

I watched their long furry tails, silky fur, pointed ears and winced at the roars while they spat out their respective powers –  one of fire, the other, wind – destroying the forest I had called a safe haven.

Right then, I thought to myself, maybe living among the trees to survive during the winter is not a suitable solution. Something like this could possibly happen again. If it does, will I die?

I honestly have zero –  that's right! Zero! – desire to die again.

"This is the first time seeing alphas fight. They are magnificent!"

The boy whispered from not too far away.

"They are; now that the weaker animals are rampaging, kill as many as you can and store their corpses."

Turning from the battle, I focused on killing as much of the fleeing prey as I could before dashing off back to the forest on the further side.

Staying to watch might cause my death from a stray fireball or something, and I had enough food right now.

"Let's go! We need to meet up with that girl, she might be in a bad way."

With those words, I ran all the way as fast as I could without stopping, making a few detours on the way, before arriving again at the tree.

Where we found her now, exiting the forest, with a huge male dykie chasing her.

I felt a headache coming on, as my anger flared up.

<Host, with the energy you burned while fleeing, it is not recommended for to allow your emotions fluctuate. Vitality at 10%>

My heart skipped a beat, I'm that close to dying? What the hell!

With that information, I cut off my emotion and attacked the six-meter dykie male which had four eyes, sharp teeth and horns on his head.

Unlike the one I had killed before, this one fitted the description of the deer males on earth except for the silver coat, eyes and ah… sharp teeth! "Wow, another Bambi," I thought.

Then with a smile, I drew my crocodile dagger and crouched, shooting up quickly, spun and slashed its throat, leaping back as it fell dead.

"Collect it,"  I said leaning against the tree, reaching for a bag of blood, I drank, catching my breath.

My suit was torn and dirty, my helmet was cracked too. With a sigh, I stood. After a few minutes, once I felt stable enough, I pulled out a new set and dressed – totally overlooking the fact that others were around, specifically a male.

"Erm…"

'..'

I forgot that they were there. Blinking, I stared a while longer. We all were underage here; I was flat and had almost zero curves, so, to me, it didn't matter.

With those thoughts, I finished pulling on my suit, then secured my helmet on my head.

"Tomorrow we can start scouting for a place to build our temporary home. We can't stay here. The alphas have ventured too close with their alpha fight."

"Sh*t, was it good?" the girl questioned in excitement. Did this foolish girl not know to feel shame after I had to save her as soon as I arrived?

"Intense, but we escaped... Barely. They were Element welders so from that they were more than a century in age." I said, feeling I should give her a bone.

"Your decision was good," the boy said. So I spoke up, pushing off from the tree, ready to move out.

"Alright, I think we have half the supplies for the three months of the freeze."

'What will we do during that time?" the girl asked. I answered, because during that time we can not really move around.

"We must find out during that time. Let us focus on the now."

"Right!"

This girl was positive. Perhaps she will survive longer with that attitude.
