4 Cultivating Body

I tried to assimilate qi into my body, but within a few seconds my body bursted into a spree of pain. I need to enter these cities. They could probably teach me how to cultivate. Apparently I couldn't enter because of the barrier that surrounds it to protect it from monsters. Everyone calls these monsters demons, which was an accurate description and name for them.

The cities do these physical tests, so that they can get the best cultivators into their cities. Normally immortals like that old man come in to teach anyone they find talented, so that they can enter these cities. They are paid by their city to do this.

You could enter academies in the cities. First I would need money in order to support myself. For that, I decided to hunt that demon I first met when I got here. I used D4C to go back to where I was, and I continued my search for it.

I knew it was one of the stronger demons. There was no way for the villagers to match it's speed alone. If most demons were like that then how could the villagers defend themselves?

Anyways I kept searching until I found it's tracks. I realized that I could sense it. I could sense its "qi". It was a bit to my right eating something. I didn't have a clue about how good it's defense was, so I had to play it safe. I used D4C to teleport to another dimension. There I saw the same demon drinking water from a stream.

I knew I could sneak up on him. All I needed was to push it into the stream and he would be teleported. The only problem was it's sheer size. I couldn't guarantee I could push something the size of an elephant, especially because it has so many muscles.

I had to act, any second it would turn around and skewer me. I summoned D4C and managed to cut both of its back legs! It let out a horrid "roar" of pure fury and anguish. Then almost instinctively it turned around and used its beetle like tusks to lift the ground up!

As rock and debris flew into the air something absurd happened. The rock stayed in the air floating. I realized immediately what it was doing. It was using qi to manipulate the rock. It was a smart beast. As it was doing this the same marks I saw before kept lighting up.

I heard of this too. The stronger demons have these marks that light up whenever they use qi. That's how this demon managed to charge at me so fast.

I went up against a tree before any of the rock could reach me. That's when I used D4C to teleport to it's mane. It was large enough to have some space in between each hair. I then broke a large branch that was on a tree.

The hog realized too late as the branch already fell on us. The hog didn't expect to be teleported into a new environment. As it sat there it took notice of the other hog. The other hog being an aggressive creature charged at the injured hog.

I knew my victory was ensured as the hogs slowly started the merge and ripped each other apart. Blood and gore flew around as they kept merging. After they both died I dug into their corpse with D4C.

I took their demon core. The core was where they held their qi. The core makes them naturally take qi into their bodies and cycles it. For humans it held qi that they could use, or use the core for weapons and armor.

I teleported back to the village I went to before. I knew I had to search for a certain person. It was the chief's son. His son has just gotten accepted to be taught by the immortal from yesterday, from what the woman told me. I had to find him and sell him the cores. I also wanted to learn how to take qi into my body.

I found him chatting with some girls. Obvious flirting was being thrown around. I barely sensed qi from him, he was probably already . I wanted to leave this village as soon as possible. They've finally realized that the dead boy was missing, and that girl who stopped me in the forest was leading the main search party.

I walked up to the chief's son, getting weird stares from him and the girls because of my clothes. With a confident smile I asked, "I'm assuming you're the chief's son?".

He had a very carefree look on him. He looked at me with interest obviously not seeing me as any real threat to him. "Well I guess I am. Why are you asking?", he said with a chilled attitude.

"Well I heard you've become a cultivator, and I couldn't help but want to help you with your journey. You see I found two dead hogs in the forest, and I've come to sell you their cores.", I said as I took out the two cores.

His easygoing attitude changed in the flip of a switch, "Wait what! Are these genuine grade 2 cores!?", he yelled.

"Of course they are. Why would I lie to someone who is going to become an immortal?", I flattered him. He realized that I would be asking for a lot of money, as no sane mortal would ever trade these.

"What would you want for these?", he asked. I could already tell he was committed to getting them. When someone goes from an excited state to calm when faced with these situations, you can tell that they made up their mind on getting it. I didn't want to ask for much, or he might try to find another means of getting the cores.

"I only want 4 gold coins, and I want to know the technique to cultivating.", I answered simply. At first he seemed confused and a bit reluctant, until he realized how cheap in the long run this was.

"That seems like a fair deal!", he said with a wide smile. He probably felt like this was the best opportunity for him. The woman said that gold coins were worth about 10 steel swords each. It wasn't too hard for the chief to have this money, since they take about 2 silver coins as tax from each of the villagers.

After he paid for one of the cores, he told me how to cultivate. He was only taught how to make qi go into your body though. He must've been in a wonderful mood because he even wrote the instructions for me.

I used D4C to disappear in an alley between two walls. I decided that I was going to use that mysterious gem I "found". Plus, I knew that I was too at risk of being questioned. Three people saw me in very suspicious circumstances.

After I found a secluded place in the forest, away from the demons and people, I started following the instructions the chief's son gave to me. It was simple, all I had to do was focus my breathing patterns in a particular way, and concentrate on moving my qi into my body.

The breathing was to keep my body regulated and calm throughout this process. I must've been sitting there for two hours before I actually figured out how to do this. Once I actually managed to cultivate, I couldn't stop.

It was a rushing feeling of power! It was familiar to me when I got all the holy parts. I felt stronger, better, almost perfect. I couldn't stop relishing in this feeling the more I cultivated. Then it all stopped.

Like cold water being thrown at someone who's sleeping, it all stopped. It was a cruel feeling, and I was left utterly confused. I realized that I had no qi left. The directions say that I have to wait until my body naturally absorbs more qi, until I can cultivate again.

Of course this is where the gem comes in. It gives me continuous qi. Rather than waiting on hours for my qi to come back, I could only absorb the gem's qi for a few minutes. So I kept cultivating and recharging, until I got too hungry to continue.

I hunted demons without the mark that hog had, as I learned that they couldn't manipulate their qi to become stronger.

The cities hold a contest every month to let people enter. I had four days to cultivate before I had to enter. Every once in a while I had to wash away some black ooze from my body, but every time I did so I got stronger.

The day finally came. I teleported near the city before I walked into it. It was one of the most prestigious cities in the country. I decided to enter because of all the treasure it held. Taking these treasures would gratefully benefit me.

As I came into view of where the contest was taking place, I noticed there were a big mix of adults and kids. Everyone looked completely different from each other, except for three people. These three people were teenagers that looked like nobles. Almost everyone was avoiding them, and they looked at them with respect and fear.

I would make sure to avoid them, or befriend them. Anyways a seemingly middle-aged man walked in front of everyone. We were all standing in front of a huge building. Then he started to explain the rules of the contest.

As he explained, I prepared. I prepared for my goals and resolve. I couldn't let anyone stand in my righteous goals like last time. I will win the contest fairly, and within its rules. I'm not going to let anything stop me!
