With trembling fingers, I pressed the link.

My phone's screen suddenly lit up. A flash of bright light momentarily blinded my vision before a huge green snake slithered its way out of my phone.

"..."

It stared at me.

Unlike Kaname where the snake bit him the moment it came out, the snake decided to have a staring contest with me.

"Hello?"

Ssssss~!

"Yes."

"I see..."

"What the hell are you doing?" Kaname asked from the side.

I stared at the snake.

What the fuck am I doing?

I ran out of patience. I can't be talkIng with a snake right now when some fucker is already limping his way over to gut us both.

I grabbed the snake's head and pressed its fangs on my neck.

A warm current flowed through my body. As if boiling water was injected into me, my whole body became hot. My breath hitched and my heart accelerated.

"Wh-What the fuck? Did this happen to you, Kaname?"

Kaname pointed at the opening elevator doors. A figure of a panda mascot appeared. He was bleeding all over, some splashes of blood in his headgear, he stumbled out of the elevator holding a gun and a knife in each hand.

"Not good..."

A moment later, my cell phone made a ding sound.

Attracting the attention of the killer and Kaname.

"Let's run!"

I didn't move.

After all, I couldn't be bothered to.

This is my ticket to escape this life.

I stared at my phone with a crazed expression.

Bang! A crisp gunshot rang through the building, with a cry of pain and a body falling on the ground, I heard Kaname's desperate shouts.

"Ahk! Dio...!"

Without waiting for my useless sigil to activate, I ran through the parking lot and kicked the mascot in the back.

"Drop kIck!"

Bam!

As I was about to taser him again, he turned invisible.

"Fuck!"

I hurriedly ran away and hid.

There is no way I could dodge bullets, let alone invisible ones.

"Dio..."

I heard a weak voice behind me. Turning around, I could see Kaname panting weakly, a bullet wound on his shoulder. He was hiding under a car when I ran over so I didn't notice him.

"Are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah... I can manage..."

"Give me your phone," I ordered.

"B-But..."

"I have a plan. Trust me."

Since you bought me time, the least I could do for you is save you.

"O-Okay..."

I opened Kaname's phone and directly pressed the battle button on Darwin's Game app.

Kaname closed his eyes. It seems he was contemplating whether he trusts me or not. Even, after all the things I did for him. Maybe he still couldn't get over my betrayal in middle school? Well, my father let me watch it when I was starting middle school. In terms of age, Kaname is slightly older than me when he watched Boku no pica...

I shivered.

Just remembering the name made my stomach churn.

Receiving his response, I nodded.

"Good. I'll be borrowing your phone for a bit."

As the sun slowly descends into the land, a bright orange light tainted the world with its color. Signaling the end of the day and the start of the night. The sunset's light permeated through the lonesome buildings, along with it is a conspicuous parking garage.

Inside the four-story parking garage, besides the cars neatly parked on each floor, a man wearing a panda costume tainted with blood walked along the 3rd floor of the building in a leisurely manner.

"SudoKaname-kun~! Where are you~?" He taunted.

The man, who is known as Banda-kun, is the one who has been chasing Kaname and Dio from the train station. He was also the one who killed the police officer along the way.

The man's name was Hashiba Kato. Or what his associates call him, Kato-san.

Before playing Darwin's Game, he was a man who was buried in debt. Due to depression, he spent his money on prostitutes and drinking at night. While in the morning, he works as the popular mascot known as Banda-kun. In the end, his job as a mascot couldn't support his hobbies, and he was buried in debt.

In order to repay his debt, he asked his friends for help. One of his friends, Tanaka-san, said that he could repay his debt by playing a game.

On a rainy night, when his friend met up with him to pass the game, he was surprised when a snake suddenly bit his neck. But what surprised him the most, was that his friend, Tanaka-san, suddenly lunging at him with a knife.

He subconsciously used his sigil, Invisibility, to avoid the blow and counterattack. Due to his desperation, he grabbed Tanaka's knife and plunged it into his heart.

After winning his first game, he found out that he could exchange points with real-life currency. With a way to repay his debt, and to meet his beloved prostitute, Rika-san, he invites other people to the game and kills them.

Thus earning him the nickname; Rookie-Hunter.

After losing all of the money he won in his previous games, he took a loan again. And just like any other low-lives, he was buried in debt. Again.

Since it was so easy to earn money, he thought that he should at least splurge that much. As long as his Rika-san is happy, he was willing to kill other people. After all, how hard could it be?

As long as he gets points, he can have as much money as he wants.

'Rika-san... I wonder what will we do later tonight?'

Despite his foot having been shot, Kato was confident that he could win this game. A sly grin appeared on his face as he imagined the look his prey had when he shot him in the shoulder. 'Did your friend left you, SudoKaname-kun~? All friends are like that. They only stay with you because you're useful. Once you're out of use, they will throw you away. Just like what mine did to me.'

"Drop Kick!"

A sudden force rattled his brain, breaking his thoughts. BAM! Before he could hit the ground, he turned on his sigil. 'Invisible!'. His whole figure melted in the shadows. Pulling his gun, he aimed it at the back of the blonde boy.

BANG!

But he was too late. The boy already ran when he turned invisible. 'That little shit!' Kato cursed. Pulling up his phone, he opened the tracking function. He hesitated for a moment before eventually using it.

'It's okay... after I kill him, I could just get more!'

Looking at his phone, he saw a blue dot circling around him. His mouth formed a sneer. 'You think you could escape me?' Getting up, he ran towards the blue light.

"DIE!" He yelled before firing all the bullets in his pistol. Bullet holes riddled the door frame of the car, and it opened partially. Seeing the state of his work, he smiled. "You should have surrendered. Too bad it's already too late."

"Oh, yeah!?" A loud voice yelled from behind. Turning around, he saw the kid he was chasing all morning, leaning on a pillar with his uniform stained with blood. "THEN I SURRENDER!!"

Ding!

Surprised, he glanced at his phone. An excited electronic voice affirmed his thoughts. "The Game is Over! Player 'SudoKaname' surrendered!" Kato just stood in place. He stared at the kid who was almost bleeding to death, then back to his phone where it says 'Points has been distributed', bringing his measly 4 points to 15.

'What now? I haven't gotten this far yet...' he wondered what he should do now. Even though he was nicknamed the Rookie-Hunter, it was actually not that long since he became a player. Now that he got his points, he pondered whether he should kill the kid or not.

Ding!

A sudden chime interrupted his thoughts. Looking at the screen, his eyes grew wide. Pulling up his other gun, he pointed it near the car bumper where a shadow was crouching.

"YOU THOUGHT IT WAS KANAME, BUT IT WAS ME, DIO!"

BANG!

A single gunshot echoed in the silent parking garage, along with the sound of a body flying through the air.

Sitting behind the car, Dio texted if Kaname was ready. After waiting a few seconds, a series of gunshots sounded beside him. Pulling out his taser, he prepared to attack.

"I SURRENDER!"

Hearing Kaname's voice, Dio opened his cell phone.

Dio forced a smile to his face and he gripped the taser tighter. With a deep breath, he reassured himself. 'He doesn't have any more ammo, you can do this Dio!'

"YOU THOUGHT IT WAS KANAME, BUT IT WAS ME! DIO!"

With a sudden yell, he pounced on Banda-kun. Only for him to come to a halt. A black muzzle aimed at his forehead. His life flashed before his eyes, as time seemed to slow down, the bullet trajectory was imprinted inside his head.

'I guess this is it. Oh, well. At least I lived a normie-like life in the end.'

He could already imagine the gruesome scene. With his brain matter strewn on the ground, his face as pale as paper, and a bullet hole on his forehead.

'Fuck. Why didn't I think that he could have brought another gun...'

As he closed his eyes in defeat, a sudden chime rang inside his head, startling him.

[Ding! Dimensional Group Chat has been applied.]

Surprised, he opened his eyes.

'Woah.'

The world was frozen.

With a bullet only a few millimeters away from his head, Dio breathed a sigh of relief. "Holy shit. Did I actually get the adamantium SSS Legendary grade ability?"

"Hm? What? What are you talking about?"

In the end, he couldn't find anything. After all, he never heard of an ability called 'Dimensional Group Chat' before. After graduating from middle school, he dropped all otaku-related activities and strived to be a normie, thus his knowledge was limited.
