58 Infinite Zombies

"You cannot pass the area beyond is forbidden."

Sensing that several cloaked men were ready to attack them, the soldiers prepared to counter them. Luckily, he raised his hand up and stopped them.

"Who are you to tell me that I cannot pass?"

Stepping forward the man in charge approached them. Removing his hood revealed gray hair and regular ears. Now he knew that they weren't elves. Seeing that they weren't hostile, he had his men lower their weapons.

With both parties having their men stand down they began to discuss what was going on. The party who stopped them was the first to begin the conversation.

"We are Rangers tasked with protecting this land. It is our duty to make sure that nobody enters the Forsaken Coast ahead."

"Normally, the area would be blocked off by several large trees. We're not sure how you got through, but we can't let you enter the area beyond this point. It's simply too dangerous"

Seeing that they were Rangers, he showed them the druid pendant. They were immediately much more receptive and friendly. If he had connections he might as well use them.

"We didn't realize you were a friend of the forest! What brings you here traveler?"

"We're headed in the direction that you're trying to block. There's something that we've been ordered to take care of."

Sensing that they wanted to continue their journey, they explained what was so dangerous about the area beyond. With the name like 'the Forbidden Coast', he was sure it wasn't going to be a picnic.

The grey-haired leader introduced his name as Garth. Going on, he told them about the properties that made The Forbidden Coast particularly dangerous.

"For some reason, the dead don't stay down they just keep getting back up."

"Even animals come back from the dead! Truly it is a cursed land, we're lucky that it's limited to such an area otherwise we'd be overrun."

"That's why we don't want anyone down there. If they get hurt they might come back as more zombies and that's just a headache for us."

"Once we cleared the area and we were able to secure things. The only thing that gets by now is the occasional bird"

During the discussion, he immediately suspected that it was a necromancer. If there was one holed up in the nearby Islands, slightly offshore, that would explain the situation.

Having been talking for a while, they were getting a little thirsty, so they broke out the good stuff. A little 'reserve' goes a long way. Heading back to the Rangers campsite they decided to have a feast and a couple drinks as well.

Looking at the equipment the Iron Devil Corp were wearing, the Rangers couldn't help but notice how exquisite it was. This gave the Rangers a very positive impression of them. Some of the Rangers and guards even started comparing their magic weapons.

During the meal, they saw Bruce and Dante training together. Witnessing their powerful moves and quick speed they were convinced that this party was serious and could handle the Forbidden Coast.

After eating dinner they were ready to take on the mission and see what was waiting for them on the Forbidden Coast. With the permission of the Rangers, they were able to proceed onward.

Passing through the forest they noticed that the terrain was starting to change. The trees were getting sparser and the soil was looking a lot worse as they went along. Further along, they saw what should have been a pristine beach, but it was now tainted.

The entire area felt depressing and lifeless. The sand nearby was black and colorless, it also gave off a foul odor. One can tell something was off right away because there wasn't any seaweed or even a single barnacle or clam.

Shambling at them was a single zombie. Since it was pretty slow he wanted to test out an idea that he had. Ordering his men not to harm the zombie they lured it further away from the area.

Once he was far enough away, he was able to use the system to take over the zombie. It took a few seconds once they got out of the appropriate range but it was worth it because the zombie was free.

Convinced that he found a loophole so that he didn't have to spend any dimensional points, he had his men gather a large crowd of zombies. As his men approached several zombies came out of the ground trying to grab them.

It was a good thing that they were slower than molasses. The only problem was that it was a few more zombies than he had anticipated taking at once. Luckily, running around in a circle distracted them long enough for him to take all of them.

At this point, he turned what was effectively a beginning necromancer's base into infinite zombie factory. As long as the lich was going to keep raising up zombies he would just take them out of the range and absorb them for himself.

After about an hour, there weren't really very many zombies left around the area. He had cleaned them out for the most part. Since the area was cleared out, for now, he decided to head back to the Rangers camp and let them know that they cleaned up the area.

Seeing the undead with the returning guards the Rangers almost opened fire on them thinking that they had been defeated and converted into zombies. Luckily enough they recognized at the last moment that there was no way that undead would be marching in orderly rows like that.

Once they realize that the party has succeeded, the Rangers let them in and they were glad to party with them. After all, they would get some rewards as well for the defeat of the undead. Garth told them about how he used to be a party animal back in the day.

Celebrating together, they took the rest of the night off. They had already acquired several zombies and there was no sense in overworking themselves. Zanir also needed to give the lich time to raise more zombies.

He wanted to try out a ghoul tomorrow and see how they would do.
