13 Earth subroutine

Mounds of earth had been haphazardly piled all around the backyard that Zanir was familiar with. He was impressed with how much material his father was able to move over.

Deciding to start with the best soil he walked over to begin. Extending his hands Zanir began the familiar absorption process. His hands filled with a green glow this time.

*Ding*

[Earth detected, absorb?]

Confirming he began to absorb the soil as he moved his hands around the pile.

[Analysis: Soil component breakdown reveals an ideal ratio of water, gases, sand, silt, clay, and organic matter. Soil texture and pH have been cataloged. Microbial breakdown pending further system review.]

He had stuck his hands at the bottom of the pile and watched as it sucked in the the rich farmland. As that happened the system produced another icon for him. It was shaped like a black and white diagram of soil layers. Instead of a percentage bar he saw the soil being filled into the diagram.

Color spread as more and more soil was sucked in and it filled up the icon.

[Additional materials absorbed, logging to appendix 2 for host review]

There were a few dings as he got some bonus material as well. There were bound to be creatures living in the dirt. He was able to spot them briefly as they were all sucked in along with the dirt.

There were worms and ants that he saw as well as some beetles, millipedes, and centipedes. He even saw something that looked like a small mole or gopher. He was glad that the system logged them all into an appendix so he could concentrate on what he was doing.

*Ding*

[Host has absorbed a sufficient amount of earth, reactivating Earth subroutine]

[Earth subroutine successfully reactivated]

[Details for subroutine successfully logged to appendix 3]

The icon for earth faded away into obsolescence as it was no longer necessary. Zanir knew that completing the Earth subroutine was a big step. This brought him to two thirds completion to initialize his world. He was so close now!

He checked the progress display and saw that the sunlight/moonlight icon was around four fifths filled up. Since he had a little time left he'd finish taking the rest of the materials.

After reactivating the Earth subroutine his absorption speed increased. Zanir ran around like a madman absorbing pile after pile of the materials that had been laid out. It didn't matter what it was. Dirt, soil, rocks, and sand it was all taken in and logged under appendix 4.

His father was surprised to see everything cleaned out. He'd rushed around the area to gather up what he could find. People gave him strange looks but he endured it. They thought that Kevin had gone mad. There were holes left all over the farm and surrounding lands.

His son would be able to replace anything he took.

'After that who would care?'

In this world if you had the strength you could do as you pleased. Also they weren't hurting anyone or doing anything malicious.

Now that everything had been taken in Zanir updated his parents.

"The Earth subroutine has been reactivated. Soon the Environment subroutine will have enough atmosphere and light to reactivate. We'll be able to see the completed world soon."

He wasn't lying as the icon was about nine tenths filled. The sunlight and moonlight swirled around it nearing the top.

There was some free time available so he washed up and decided to review some of the logged appendix. The first was from those zombies and the others he got just now during the Earth subroutine activation.

[Host has 4 appendix pending review]

[Appendix 1:

This is clearly a zombie corpse and not a robot. All corpse have been digitized into system storage for now since Host has no compatible necromancer abilities.]

[Appendix 2:

Additional materials were acquired during scheduled absorption task as listed]

[Material analyzed:

Name: Oligochaeta

Type: Worm

Rating: Level 1

Description: The Earthworm is a tube shaped, segmented worm. Although small they are not to be underestimated. These small worms help bring about many biological, chemical, and physical benefits to soil fertility. They also from the basis of many food chains.]

[Material analyzed:

Name: Formicidae

Type: Ant

Rating: Level 1

Description: The Ant is a small insect with a wide range of species. They can form colonies that range in size from a few dozen to millions of individuals. Caste system divides ants into workers, soldiers, and other special groups.]

[Material analyzed:

Name: Coleoptera Polyphaga

Type: Beetle

Rating: Level 1

Description: Beetles are a large group of insects with hundreds of thousands of species. They typically have a hard exoskeleton and a hardened pair of front wings. Found in nearly all habitats wherever vegetative foliage is found including dead or decaying plants.]

[Material analyzed:

Name: Diplopoda

Type: Millipedes

Rating: Level 1

Description: Millipedes are a group of arthropods which have elongated cylindrical or flattened bodies divided by segments. Most millipedes are slow-moving detritivores, eating decaying leaves and other dead plant matter. Generally harmless to humans unlike the distantly related centipedes which are carnivorous.]

[Material analyzed:

Name: Eulipotyphla Talpidae

Type: Mole

Rating: Level 2

Description: Moles are small mammals adapted to a subterranean lifestyle. They have tiny eyes and ears but large powerful forelimbs and paws which are well adapted to digging. Moles burrow and raise molehills and their diet consists mainly of earthworms, other small invertebrates, and a variety of nuts.]

[Appendix 3:

Earth subroutine has been reactivated]

[The Earth subroutine handles the absorption and dispersion of solid materials. This particular subroutine will analyze and catalog the solid materials automatically for the Host. Reactivation of Earth subroutine has unlocked the mapping function.]

[Upon reactivation the subroutine has used the collected soil to establish your world's spatial earth. It has been treated by the system to remove contaminants. The spatial earth will be upgraded and adjusted according to further material samples collected.]

[Appendix 4:

Various granular material detected. System is analyzing and categorizing. Please see attached charts for breakdown information.]

Various categories were displayed and Zanir scrolled through them. He could display the results based on size which ranged from boulders, rocks, and stones all the way down to gravel, pebbles, sand, silt or clay. There were also distinctions for the shape and grade as well but he was getting bored looking at all the raw data.

Just when he was starting to get bored and tired of waiting Zanir heard the sound that he was looking forward to most right now.

*Ding*

The final subroutine was ready. He had completed all the basic framework and he could now congeal a basic world.
