72 Danger Room

While the racers were competing, Zanir and the general discussed what would be the best kind of services. An entire dungeon wouldn't be needed, as the troops could train in shifts. Talking with Raul, he also found out that they would mainly be doing combat training.

Courtesy of the system, he was able to bring out a few different blueprints, showcasing various prototype designs. Eventually, after a few slight modifications, they settled on a single room. It could hold about a dozen people inside, along with a few monsters.

Combat simulations could be run against a few different types of monsters. It would also allow the soldiers to heal quicker. Construction of the room itself wouldn't take long, and it could run off the same dungeon core, as it would be generating more energy than it took to operate.

Negotiations finally reached the price point. Renting the room per run would add up quickly, so they talked over some terms and agreed to a timed reservation. Not only would they have the initial reservation, they could use the room as much as they wanted to during that time.

After the reservation was up, others would be free to reserve the training room, if Zanir and his entourage were still in town that is. As for how much it cost, something like this couldn't be bought with just gold coins. They bartered for something rarer.

Begrudgingly, Raul agreed to part with items that also couldn't be purchased with gold. He was hesitant to give up something from the armory, but they had an ancient runic item, that had long since lost their charge.

Signaling his men, the soldiers left hastily. Before long, they returned with a beautiful Elven longsword. Raul explained that it was a gift bestowed upon the founding Ranger, awarded to commemorate their longstanding alliance.

The first thing he noticed about the blade, was how vivid and lifelike it seemed. The sword was designed to look like a blade of grass, with jagged edges along the blade. The hilt was crafted from unknown materials into the shape of a flower blooming.

Although beautiful, the longsword was several hundred years old, and had long since lost its luster and sheen. Just by looking at it, one could tell that it was a vibrant and powerful weapon in its prime.

Agreeing to the terms, he absorbed the blade.

To his astonishment, he double checked the entry and confirmed, it was the first time that the system was unable to tell him what something was made of. Checking how much it would cost to unseal the weapon, he saw that the system would need 100,000 dimensional points.

Clearly, this weapon was extremely overpowered. He breifly considered letting Dante try it out, but the system told him that using the weapon without sufficient power would cause the user to explode. For now, he would store the weapon, giving him a goal to work towards.

Moving over to the side of the obstacle course, Zanir and some of the men made short work of setting up the training room. Once the room was created, he simply had to adjust a few of the settings, and it was ready to go.

Of course, they waited for a few moments inside, giving the illusion that they were hard at work. If people knew how quickly and easily the system set things up, they would become suspicous and it would lead to uncessary attention.

During the well deserved break, he got a notifcation that he wasn't expecting.

*Ding*

[Your dungeon has defeated fifty challengers. Slimes will now occasionally spawn inside your dungeon.]

Unexpected rewards almost always bring delight. Setting it up with a few different monster types, he went with what he had. There were the goblins, emerald crabs, several types of animals, and to top it off, they even had several different types of zombies and ghouls.

There was no reason to reveal the existence of the shade. It had actually been travelling with Zanir for some time now. Being able to conceal itself inside his shadow, meant that it was always nearby in case of any surprise attacks.

Making his way out of the newly constructed room, he greeted the nearby Raul, who was waiting patiently with some of his top troops. After a brief round of introductions he brought the general and the elite troops inside, showcasing the operations terminal.

When the soldiers saw that they could fight different monsters, they were excited to try it out. Gearing up, they were ready in a few moments. Choosing to battle some goblins, they wanted to try something easy and see how the room worked.

Once all of non-combatants left, the room sealed itself off, as the walls became transparent in a similar fashion to the obstacle course. Although the crowd was watching the racing, a few of them spotted the new room, and it soon drew attention.

If everyone was impressed by the racing, they were blown away by watching a live dungeon battle. It didn't take long for the crowd to split, as people didn't know what to watch first. Having entertainment options was a problem they'd never faced before.

Everyone watched as several goblins entered the room through various manners. A few came out from under the floor, while others dropped down from the ceiling. The surprise attack caught them off-guard, but the veteran soldiers quickly recoverd their wits.

Having the numerical advantage, the Rangers turned the battle in their odds, finishing off the goblins after a few minutes of fighting. A few of them suffered minor injuries, like bruising and cuts, but no one was defeated.

One unlucky Ranger was stabbed in the eye during the initial ambush, crippling him. After the battle, the soldiers found that thier injuries had already begun to fade away. It took a few minutes, but the injured Ranger was soon able to join his victorious comrades outside.

When the last Ranger came out of the room, the audience nearby erupted into appluase. It was truly a riveting show, that many ordinary people would never get to see, even in an entire lifetime. Discussing it amongst themselves, the troops decided what order they would enter the training room in.

Reviewing the notifications, Zanir confirmed that the system got points for the battle, with more being awarded if he could defeat the challengers. There were also indications that other acheivements would unlock additional features.

Jokingly, one of the Rangers asked how they could get new monsters. When he told them that any monster could be added if they could capture it for him, all of nearby crowd went silent. Raul approached him laughing.

"You know that site you cleared out? 'The Forbidden Coast'. Well, we got scores of cursed and forsaken areas like that. Too many of our finest are out there guarding these areas, holding back the horrors within from escaping."

Hearing that there were areas rife with monsters, Zanir was naturally interested. He could help them clear up any nearby problem areas, while expanding his spatial world and dungeon at the same time.
