Chapter 1: Dimension Lobby

Eastern Mountain Kingdom, Capital City Solana year 876.

Inside a small apartment, a young man with silver hair wearing a black hooded jacket and black pants is staring at his reflection through the window. Looking at his face, he felt weird since he saw a different face from what he always saw for the past 30 years.

However, he had to admit his face was handsome. He would not lose to any Hollywood actor in his past world.

Sighing hard, he is thinking about what happened this past month.

Kotton Hansen, this is his name in this world. He reincarnated into the body of a boy that drowned trying to save a child that fell off a bridge.

He remembered the first day he got reincarnated. He was so confused and did not understand what was happening until the previous Kotton Hansen memory appeared. He shook his head and gazed outside the window.

From his memories, he knew he was an orphan who dropped out of school and worked part-time at a convenience store near the train station and as a part-time construction worker.

He wondered why he had to reincarnate to such a life. Where was the wealthy family where he could live the young master life or the overpowered system that usually appears in the reincarnation novels he had read in the past? He thought his new life was quite miserable.

In his previous life, Kotton was a professional Esports player. He had won countless tournaments for his country. He was not used to such a life of hardships.

This world is known as Gaia. The technology here is more advance than in his former world. The cost of living is relatively high, so the former Kotton has not touched a game his whole life, leaving him unaware of what kind of games there are and if he can even make a living out of gaming here.

He shook his head and released a heavy sigh. He stopped thinking and then looked at the old watch that he had.

"It is already 7:30 pm time to head out and work" (Kotton)

Kotton left the house and started walking while thinking about whether he should be a model since he is handsome and his body is quite muscular because of his construction job. While thinking such stupid thoughts, Kotton was startled when he saw two black expensive-looking cars speeding by. He gazed at the cars longingly, thinking when he could get such a good ride.

After arriving at the convenience store, he checked the time and saw it was time to start his shift. Standing beside the cash register, he saw his coworker Joshua ready to head out.

"Yo! Kotton, my shift is done. I'm heading out" (Joshua)

"Alright, take care, brother" (Kotton)

Looking outside the windows has been his pastime for a month now. He did not even have a phone to play with to pass the time while the store had no customers. Gazing outside, Kotton felt that his life is too dull. He got reincarnated to another world. He should be happy because he can live again. This body is only 18 years old. He has a long life waiting for him. Kotton shook his head and decided he would find a way to enjoy his new life.

After a few hours that felt like forever, a young woman wearing all black and a facemask went inside the store.

"Welcome" (Kotton)

The woman went and sat at the chair beside the windows and gazed outside. Kotton was curious about what the woman was looking at, so he started staring out too. He saw two muscular men in suits looking for someone on the opposite street. He thought trouble was coming and lamented why his new life was so hard. The woman saw that the two men were close by and asked him.

"Can I leave using the store back door?" (Woman)

Kotton nodded and let the woman out using the staff-only back door. After a while, the two men went inside and gazed around the store as if looking for something. After looking around and finding nothing, they looked at him before leaving the store.

"That was scary" (Kotton)

After they left, Kotton decided to sweep the floor. While cleaning, he saw something stuck on the corner of a shelf. He took it and looked at it curiously.

It was a black joker playing card. After holding it for a while, he was shocked when the card melted and merged inside his hand, and then a voice rang in his head.

"The Dimensional Lobby is activated. Congratulations on becoming a contract player in the Dimensional Lobby" (System)

"Transmitting…" (System)

A flash of light came, and Kotton closed his eyes. After a while, he opened his eyes.

He is now in a white room, and nothing can be seen besides two wooden doors. One was opened, and you could see the convenience store he was in a few moments ago while the other door was closed.

Kotton was shocked the back pain was gone entirely. The hidden injuries he has from before are wholly healed. It is more efficient than any advanced medical technique.
