In the beginning the human world and the digital world were two separate realities, known only to a select few who fought to keep the stability between these two worlds. These individuals were known as Digidestined, they were the heroes that tamed the wild passage between realities with their intrepid spirit to fight for the sake of the many. For unbeknownst to most of humanity, intelligent life was closer than the stars, it was at our very fingertips, in our computers, our phones, our constant connection to the world wide web. The Digital World, home to complex life forms known as, Digimon, Digital Monsters, living, intelligent artificial life forms that lived amongst the data streams of the digital planes created by technology. These creatures originated from a program to explore AI and blossomed into a thriving world with life in secret that evolved at an alarming rate. It is together with Digimon, that the Digidestined, heroes compatible with both the human world and the digital world, partnered together for decades in secret for the sanctity of all life, both physical and digital.

It began with the ignorance of Humanity, their blindness, the evidence was there the entire time, an entire world, hidden under a thin layer of code. By the time humanity became fully aware of its existence it was too late, a crisis, the likes of which humanity could never imagine had begun to occur. The Digital world and the Human world started to converge, suddenly the existence of the Digital world, Digimon, and Digidestined was revealed to everyone. Panic spread like wildfire as the world governments came together, arguing with each other like petulant children and posturing with weapons of mass destruction. It took the combined efforts of Digidestined from all around the world to bring a semblance of peace and order. To work together in this time of need, The Digidestined United Network was founded, otherwise known as The D.U.N. This would be the centralized network for Digidestined from around the world to communicate during this dire time to unite both the Human world and the Digital world to reverse this catastrophic event.

The Digidestined United Network was founded by Milly Bellucci, Phoebe Deneuve, Meera Rai, and Xiao Poi. For the first two years The D.U.N. achieved peace, human kind along with digimon kind worked together to repair the damages caused by convergence to what is now both their world. Prime Minister Star, a veteran digidestined was elected as official representative of The D.U.N. and was responsible for signing the first ever Human/Digimon treaty that would solidify a peaceful relationship between humankind and digimonkind. It was on the day of the signing, in front of hundreds of human delegates and members of the Celestial Digimon alongside the Royal Knights that Yggdrasil appeared before humanity. The living operating system of the Digital World that was thought to have been destroyed during the convergence suddenly appeared before all to deliver a warning.

The convergence was just the beginning, darkness was coming and Yggdrasil had failed to prevent the spread of a devastating error that would cascade beyond just the convergence of worlds. Before Yggdrasil could utter another word, a blanketing shadow flooded over the proceedings meant to bring peace to the world. A horrific monstrous creature landed at the center of the stage and roared, it seemed to be a digimon, but unlike any digimon ever seen by humankind. Alphamon, a member of the Royal Knights was the first to recognize the abomination, it was a Death X Digimon, an impossible existence that should have been deleted long ago. That day, marked the end, the end of peace, the end of hope, that day the Royal Knights and Celestial Digimon fell. It was that day Digimon and Human kind learned of the existence of the Death X Error.

The Scientific department of The D.U.N. did their best to understand the Death X Error and how to create a code to be able to defeat it, but to no avail. Though their research would reveal another terrifying truth of the convergence event, it had begun to digitize humanity. Thanks to technology developed by The D.U.N. It was discovered that in every human a pseudo-digicore had developed and appeared as a side effect of the convergence of worlds. Humanity had become digital in the worst way, susceptible to the horrors of the Death X Error, and it was then that civilization was doomed. Quickly, the Death X Error spread amongst humans, fighting a pandemic and an army of voracious monsters, there was little the Human and Digimon kind could do but struggle to survive. Nothing the Digimon or Human scientists did would stop the quickened spread of this Death X Error and in a matter of 3 months civilization was reduced to a few small surviving colonies spread throughout the ruins of the world.
