Chapter 64

You know, there was a time where you couldn't imagine calling a trio of champion level digimon slow. Especially speed based ones.

But, apparently that day had come. Because the trio of Harpymon chasing the fleeing people looked like they were going in slow motion to you.

You lifted your right hand, two fingers pointing out and a humm of sound filed the air, a corona of red energy swirling into a sphere at your duo of fingertips.

"Nuclear Laser!" you declared, and fired a large beam of red energy that swept down the street in the blink of an eye.

The Harpymon noticed quickly, but two of them reacted too slow. One managed to flap its wings and push itself down under the red beam. The other two weren't so lucky, and the beam washed over them in an instant, erasing them from existence.

"Huh," Ruki blinked, "That was quick. These things are scrubs."

You nodded, "Yeah, but they're useful scrubs," you replied, lifting up your digivice, "Feel free to scan one for yourself, we can get some digimentals of light from this."

Ruki raised grinned, "Sounds good to me, though I'll need to get my hands on a good digimon to use it on." she responded, copying your motion and scanning the data of one of the two defeated Harpymon with her digivice.

You grinned as you felt power well up inside you, transferred through the digivice. Two abilities from the Harpymon you defeated flooding your mind, the power, and the knowledge how to use them.

Sonic Scream is definitely a very useful ability.

You shook your head and eyed the remaining Harpymon, staring at the place where its comrades used to be. "Better finish this one up as well." you mused.

You lifted your hand, fingers humming with crimson red power once again. But just before you fired, Harpymon lifted its head and let loose a piercing screech that shook the night.

And then it exploded into light.

"What the hell, it's digivolving!?" Ruki shouted.

"Digivolving isn't a free action!" you shouted yourself, unleashing your Nuclear Laser attack.

The attack reached and washed over the glowing white digimon for a few seconds, before bursting apart alongside shards of silvery white light. And flapping its wings mid air, a pair of golden swords in hand, and a savage look in its eyes, was a Karatenmon.

"I'll kill you human!" it squawked in a frothing rage, even with the searing burns smoking off of its body from your attack.

It flapped its wings, a black aura surrounding its body and then shot at you like a bullet tearing through the wind, "Feather Sonic!"

"Heh," you merely smirked. it digivolving just gave you more weapons to use against it. Holding your hands out, you willed the newest pieces of equipment you gained into existence within your hands.

A very familiar pair of golden chrome digizoid swords.

Well, if this guy wanted to make it a contest of speed, who are you to deny him?

"Hyper Dash." You intoned.

Your foot kicked out behind you, pushing off the ground with explosive force, and you left the realm of speed the human eye could follow.

You saw the Karatenmon's eyes widen just briefly, before you were in its space, your own twin golden swords, swirling with a black blaming aura swung in a double slash. "Styx Killer!"

It didn't even have the chance to pull its swords up to block. Your own black flame clad swords cut through its aura of power, and purple armour. It had just a moment to squawk in fury and pain, before bursting into purple flakes of data that rained down around you.

"Well, that was fun." you commented. You dismissed your new blades and raised your digivice into the air, taking half of its data to create an egg, and the other half you stored in the data cache storage system.

You couldn't help but smirk, when another extremely useful ability flooded into your mind from the data you just got. Man, despite the craziness of today, everything is just going your way.

"If you're done patting yourself on the back," Ruki said from behind you, gaining your attention. "This isn't over yet," you looked over your shoulder, to find her pointing ahead. Following her finger, you saw that, over the subway stairs, the mist had cleared, but the subway system was glowing, and was glitching? It was like a glitched part of Eden was overlapping it.

"The fuck?" you blinked. What the hell is going on here? Reality has gone whacky.
