122 Phoenix called Ph**** and Sensory deprivation...

//

Before I realized, another weak was gone. Here's the chapter. Sorry for the wait and the lack of action. It's just the quiet before the storm though. Not much until the Canterlot wedding after all. ;)

Anyway hope you like it and and the phoenix name, and like always EEEENJOY!!!

Starfall looked outside the window at the calm streets of Ponyville. It was a peaceful evening. No scary monster trying to destroy the town. No cataclysmic plant or a rouge Pony with a cursed artifact spreading terror around the community...

Funny how that last thing happened at least four times in the show...

He let out a relaxed sigh, slowly caressing the head of Little Strongheart who napped beside him on the Sofa.

Suddenly, a white dust outside caught his attention, and after giving it a better look, he realised that it was snow! Winter was finally coming to Equestria...

He smiled at the tiny particles. He could easily tell that tomorrow, Ponyville was going to be covered in white coat just like himself...

He looked back at Strongheart.

The tiny buffalo looked so peaceful.

He gently caressed the small bump on her belly. To think they made it together...

He couldn't wait for that day, but he also felt worried...Would he be a good father? And would he be able to ensure a safe future for his children?

He leaned down and kissed the sleeping girl on her forehead...

He'd certainly do his best...

"It's here!" Exclaimed an excited Sweetie Belle.

"So cool!" Added Scootaloo looking at the same thing as her friend.

"Yuck...It's slimy..." Said Spike getting a laugh from Apple Bloom.

"It isn't worse than a chicken's. And our pigs make this hatching look like a walk in the park." Pointed the farm brought up filly.

"You say that because it's normal for you." Pointed out Spike, getting an eye roll from Apple Bloom.

"Well, duh!" She said causing everycreature present to laugh before focusing back on the green egg in the center of the room.

They could see some fluids covering a lime green plumage peeking out from the cracks in said egg, and more cracks appearing as the little phoenix did it's best to free itself out of it's "prison".

Starfall had been performing observations through the entire process and so far no problems arouse, which reassured him that the phoenix was healthy.

"I can't believe we're witnessing the birth of a new species! It's so fascinating!" Said Whooves from the side while Twilight nodded in agreement.

"That's true! Just think of all the data we're getting from this process!" She whispered to everypony's amusement.

That the birth of the green Phoenix was being witnessed by most of the extended family wasn't surprising.

Though Starfall made sure they weren't all trying to squeeze themselves into this small room, and opted instead to allow the CMC to get the "first row seats" so to speak.

After all, it was technically their right as the ones who found the egg in the first place...

But as the small green Phoenix finally got out of it's egg and instantly jumped into Spike's outstretched arms, Starfall began to wonder whether it was such a good idea after all...

__________

The white coated unicorn watched a holographic chart in front of him with not a small amount of frustration.

His magic was unstable. That was a fact. And while he was making good progress in getting a hang of the slowly expanding "hiccups" and wasn't that bothered despite their higher amounts, He still couldn't pinpoint a definite reason other than a number of uncertain speculations...

A sudden whoosh of Fire followed by a clutter from behind him, startled Starfall who turned around, only to find Phoebe following a small green blur that dodged the white phoenix all around the lab chamber.

"Phoebe! I told you no flying in the Lab!" He called stepping away from the green torpedo...

'S-Sorry Dad! But it's Philip's Fault! He doesn't want to eat his veggies!' Phoebe called before both phoenixes disappeared in another burst of fire.

Starfall sighed in exasperation and decided that he would disable spatial magic in every lab, and not just the important ones, as soon as he has time...

It was a weak since the birth of Philip.

The small green phoenix quickly found its way into the hearts of everypony, especially the Cutie Mark Crusaders...But his insistence of staying with Spike, and a soon discovered mischievous nature thanks to Scootaloo, especially towards his "older sister" Phoebe, had been the source of an equal amount of trouble and amusement for everybody.

That his behaviour reminded Starfall of Phoebe's "chickhood" to a noticeable level, didn't make it any less entertaining...

"I'm so glad I don't have to babysit another Phoenix..." He snorted in amusement feeling bad for "big sis" Phoebe... Since everypony (and dragon) agreed to take care of the young chick in equal manners, Philip became more or less the child of everyone...giving Starfall a breather in this single instance...

Starfall also couldn't help but smile when he remembered how Spike and the three fillies made the phoenix their honorary member/mascot, which clearly made the newborn phoenix very happy.

The unicorn once again looked at the charts.

His magic grew again...not surprising considering that he never stopped his regular training, but the fact his magic was quickly approaching the levels of Alicorn wasn't something to scoff at.

He turned to the side and focused, his horn sparkling as a rip in space started to form before collapsing as Starfall took a few deep breaths...

It was so frustrating! He was this close! How was it that he could play with minor time magic since forever, yet when it came to portals, he had such big problems!?

Inside, he knew that he wasn't fair to himself. It was the same with him making portals in comparison to short distance teleportation, as with him slowing down time in an area to an outright long period time travel... There were easy things he could do, and there were things he needed a lot of power and knowledge before attempting.

Starfall sighed and walked towards a recently build special chamber, covered in runes inside and outside.

He thought that it was no wonder he turned towards rune inscriptions. He was too impatient to achieve awesome magic to wait for his own strength to reach the needed level, ans too prideful to reach for shortcuts.

A certain Bell would have sneezed in its icy vault if it had a nose...

Starfall leaned towards the doors and inserted his horn into a hole in the doors, pouring his magic into it and causing the runes to lit up as the doors became transparent and illusory.

He passed through them as if they weren't there, and found himself in an empty chamber devoid of anything other than a comfy pillow in the middle.

Starfall sat on the pillow and closed his eyes.

A total silence fell, as the light of the room slowly dimmed, leaving the runic inscriptions covering the walls as the only source of light in the chamber.

The unicorn relaxed, as his body became light, the gravity slowly disappearing as the magic in the runes cut the inside of the chamber from the pull of the planet.

In this environment, Starfall spend hours in a semi-meditative state, trying to get better in control of his inner magic.

It was his belief that he could never reach perfection, and could only aim to get better, so with this sensory deprivation chamber, he would do his best to do just that.

Not even mentioning the Time dilation he installed to not waste more of his precious time.

Ponies call him a workaholic?...Well...With this room he might at least appear to work less... And the quiet and calm environment makes it quite therapeutic on top of it's practicality...

Starfall smiled to himself...From all his previous creations, he was starting to like this one the most...
