His purple eyes gave of a faint light as the magic did it's thing. He was already quiet proficient in using the Ability without a lot of preparations and further focus, so he could focus more on other things, like for example analyzing his 'magical core'.
But he wasn't very happy about the outcome of his analysis...
Why was it so weak?!
No. It wasn't that bad yet. He was just a little Foal after all, so it should be obvious that his magic would be much weaker. What was really a problem was how his magic was behaving! It was all focused mostly in single spot which was actually close to his head. It was different than with other ponies and He understood what was going on when he tried to move his magic around his body.
What he did was basically move his magical core around and it was not what he wanted to do at all! He already saw other ponies using magic and what he did was push his entire magical core to the base of his horn... It worked but it was not how pony magic ought to work!
'Is this because Blueblood had such a weak magical affinity so that all his magic was focused in a single point?' Thought Starfall worryingly.
In the end, there was only one conclusion...If he wanted to improve himself, he couldn't just increase his amount of magic. He needed to at least extract this magic from the core if not outright spread it all over his body.
The more he thought about it, the more it seemed like earth ponies actually had the greatest potential of becoming powerful but they just couldn't use their magic in the form of spells... The magical cores were most common amongst unicorns after all, while earth pony magic naturally strengthened their entire physique and pegasi magic strengthened a number of parts inside their body. If Alicorn and powerful unicorn magic is any indication, if you put a horn on any earth pony, he would be able to quickly surpass many regular unicorn in magical affinity...
And there came Starfall with his magic refusing to spread from his core...
If he ever wished to achieve anything, he needed to figure out how to literally crack open this core so that his magic could spread to multiple parts of his body simultaneously.
He really needed to get his own mirror...

//One year later//
Starfall was currently playing with his Foal-sitter Cadence when a shout of happiness came from another part of the castle.
He was curious what happened as Cadence visibly smiled upon hearing that shout but she didn't explain and had no way of checking it out so he left it to rest.
A lot had changed with The Colt since his first month in Equestria.
He started to use simple words to express himself and spend a lot of time running on his little hooves. The adults were really surprised with how fast he was growing as he looked more like a two or three years old colt and not just a one year old foal.
Everyone always spoke about how smart he was. He never cried and always seemed to understand you and listened attentively when you were speaking to him. He was also known for levitating his toys around as Starfall decided that it wasn't something he should really hide. After all he wanted to learn magic in a magical society, so why should he hide his aptitude for it?
His capacity also increased exponentially. He already confirmed that his magic was abysmal compared to other ponies of his age but with the pace he was going, he should achieve a common magical level for a two years old before his second birthday. Then it was improving even further and figuring out how to open his magical core. He already made some progress in that regard but it took him a lot of work.
He needed to get his own mirror which he achieved when he was three months old by reaching to any mirror in the castle while someone was carrying him or accompanying him. In the end, it was actually Mrs. Sparkle who brought him the same mirror he saw that day when he sneaked into her room.
It was now hanging on his wall, letting him observe his magic and trying to form wisps of magic from the core like he observed amongst the other ponies.
As of now, Starfall was only able to create a single wisp that acted as a connection between his horn and the magical core, the same way he saw amongst other unicorns. What he observed was his magic becoming much weaker than it was when his horn was directly connected to the magical core but it was what he expected to happen.
What he needed to do now was to somehow create new wisps that connected with his hooves. He believed that it had something to do with pegasi ability to touch the clouds but they could also do the same with their entire bodies so maybe they had some kind of thin magical membrane under their skin or something? He needed to study it further...
He wondered whether it would be alright to ask Cadence for a piece of cloud using his trained puppy eyes and cute voice but they were interrupted by a young pony that Starfall recognized as Shining Armor.
He looked really excited but blushed when he saw Cadence.
"H-Hi C-Cadence... I bring happy news! My mom just gave birth! I have a sister now!" He exclaimed shyly with a slight stutter. Then he added- "Mom wanted me to tell you that you won't run away from that Foalsitting that you promised her." He said sheepishly while still blushing, and Cadence giggled hearing his words.
"Tell her I'd be happy to do so." She said and then turned to Starfall with a smile.
"Seems like you'll have a playmate soon darling. Be nice to her, Alright?" She said and Starfall made a cute hooray in agreement.
"Thank you Shining Armor. I'll see you around." She said turning back to the young Stallion.
"Yeah. See you around Cadence" He said blushing and trotted away while turning back a few times on the way to the castle.
Cadence giggle with a slight blush at his departing silhouette.
"He's so cute..." She muttered quietly and Konrad was surprised that they were already having such thoughts towards each other. Twilight must have been really oblivious if she didn't realize anything was afoot, and those two must have been really bad at expressing their feelings if they didn't marry until Twilight became a young adult...
He wondered whether his existence would have any adverse effects on the timeline. If he becomes friends with Twilight, would she still become the princess of friendship? Hed have to try and guide her towards her destiny if the needs arises but no way in Tartarus is he going to abandon her or push her away. That would be just plain stupid...

Twilight Sparkle was an adorable filly. That was the first thing that came to his mind when he saw her.
Her mother brought her one day as he was playing tag with Cadence on the caste grounds. The filly was really cheerful and his Foal-sitter instantly took a liking to her. Starfall bopped her on the muzzle playfully, elliticing a giggle out of the future princess of friendship.
At that time she was still too small to need a foalsitter as her father could keep an eye on her, but a few months later she finally learned how to walk and before she turned one year old she was already too much for Night Light to handle with all the work he had going at home. Turns out that he was not only a magic theory and fantasy writer but also had a lot of paperwork to do, So shortly before his second birthday Starfall received a playmate for their sessions with Cadence.
He quickly became very protective over the little filly. She was such a little, cute thing and he decided to protect her whenever her brother wasn't around. They had a lot of fun together and he had grown to like her company. Seems like his foal body really affected his psychic. He was catching himself acting like a child even when he was alone. But he was not worried about that. As long as his reasoning and memories remained intact he would gladly accept feeling like a child again. It would be certainly helpful for his conscience if he decided to date someone of his physical age in the future...
Another funny thing about Cadence and Armor. They are constantly doing this mating dance around each other whenever he visits, but they are apparently completely oblivious to it and wouldn't even know how to proceed if they weren't so blind... It was honestly making Starfall cringe, even if he himself wasn't any better in his past life... He died a proud Virgin whose greatest achievement was a blowjob during a friend's birthday party... He would certainly try to correct it this time around...
His magic studies progressed steadily. He could already form multiple tendrils of magic spreading from his core and reaching into every limb of his body. It was his attempt at recreating earth pony magic and as of yet it seemed to be working because he could feel his body being much stronger than it should possibly be, but it was still inferior to the real deal. He still couldn't just open his magical core to increase it's size, but he believed that the tendrils were a step in the right direction. His capacity was now already slightly above the level of a two year old, which was honestly a bit over his original calculations, so he was happy with the progress, But even then he was far from reaching the level of innate ability Twilight possessed in abundance.
She was honestly a monster! Her magic capacity was at least that of a ten years old pony while her magical core was already spread open and the only reason she wasn't throwing laser beams in every direction is because she didn't form a tendril connecting her horn with her magic. It was something common amongst untrained unicorns, Starfall observed. Such unicorns usually struggle with spells, because they first have to form a temporary tendril to connect with their magic. If you're not proficient enough in making this connection permanent, you would have to reconnect like this every time you try casting a spell.
Starfall imagined a power plug touching two cables instead of being plugged. Without a socket, the cables would easily be separated from the plug but as long as you hold them in place, the electricity is passing through.
It's similar with unicorns but their 'plug' Is more like a concept and it requires mostly to grasp it by instinct...or have a control and perception of your magic like Starfall... He could now easily form this connection and separate it at will so that wasn't his problem.
He believed that Twilight's 'plug' would be formed during her magical examination when that Sonic Rainboom appeared. She would suddenly connect to that massive amount of magic power she possessed or the magical blast would have caused her magic to react violently...Damn those were all just guesses. He won't know until he goes there and see for himself. Who knows. Maybe he could also take advantage of that Rainboom...
