1 Day 0

Diary Entry

...

For some reason, nobody else knew about zombies.

"Haaak! Help! Sir! Why the heck are you biting me! I will call the poli-- Haaaak!"

I saw how the man was coughing very hard a while ago and suddenly went silent.

"AaaaH! He killed her! Run!"

The crowd was going insane from what happened.

"Wha-- look at her, the lady's getting up!"

Just after being dead for a few seconds but the lady became 'alive' again.

"Kahaaaak! Lady! Stop biting m--hakk!"

Nobody seemed to realize what's going on.

'Are they zombies? How can zombies exist?'

"They're zombies! Run!"

I shouted, yet they looked at me and said,

"What the fk are you talking about, call the police!"

"Yeah that's right, nobody move we are witnesses."

"Stay away everyone, I'm gonna call the cops."

And that is how I knew how dumb these people are.

I ran to the outside the train station and looked at them from afar. I can still hear their voices.

"I have nothing to do with you maam/sir, don't hurt me."

"Calm down sir, I'm a psychologist, I can help you calm down if you just let me get near to you. I can hel-- huuk! No! Sir! Stop biting me! Aaak! No not in my neck--- haaak!"

And just like the others, they dropped dead one by one. Some immediately becoming a zombie, some needing a full minute. But they all eventually turned into zombies.

That's how I knew I gotta get the fk out.

I went to my car and drove fast to get to my house. I called all my friends and told them to get lots of food, water, equipments, and maybe a weapon, a silent one.

"Why?"

"Because a zomb--- we're shooting a video, prepare it immediately."

I was gonna say zombie apocalypse, but figured they probably wouldn't understand. Just like how those people in the train station.

'Wait, I forgot to tell her!"

I reached out to my phone and was trying to dial her number but suddenly,

*all I knew this morning when i woke is I knew something now, knew something now, I didn't before*

My phone rang, someone called. I looked at the name and its her, Karess. I picked my phone and answered the call. Yet all I heard was,

"Haaaak! Heeelp! Heeelp! Aaak!"

I stopped the car, listened carefully, and found out that it wasn't Karess' voice.

Relieved for now, but if I don't go get her fast enough I would regret it. With little to no hope, I turned my car around and drove to the school she's teaching at. But I looked at the phone to check the time and realized something.

"Wait, its 6:39 pm, she should be in that school studying."

But when I looked up to the road, it hit me.

"Heeelp! My daughter!"

A man shouted at me for help, I was gonna go and help but a zombie caught them.

"Haaaak!"

That's right, these people don't know what zombies are!

"Heeey you! Help me!"

Another guy shouted at me, but I knew what was going to happen, so I didn't look.

"Haaaaak!"

I drove by people who shouted for help. Yet I did not look at them, not even try, because no matter what, the zombies are gonna get them first.

"Heeelp mee-- Haaaaak!"

"Stop the ca-- Haaak!"

They don't know what zombies are! Everyone should know about zombies, but they don't!

"Wait! My parents! My family! I forgot to call them!"

And so I immediately called them.

Mom is at the house, hiding, which is good. Dad's trying to go home, also good.

My brother lives near a farm, a good place to hide in zombie apocalypse. I told him the situation and persuaded him to fortify his house and build fences. To which he believed, also good.

My sister is still on duty in the hospital, a bad place for a zombie apocalypse, a very very bad place. I called her and she said she closed the pharmacy and locked herself with her colleagues. I asked her to look for bites and to isolate people who are bitten, thankfully she also believed me. It's good for now.

(7: 36 pm)

I arrived outside her school. It's dark with a few flickering lights around. Good thing is that the building seems to be lit up, although it sounds quiet here.

"Ahh sh8, the whole school looks dead."

I need to find her, even if there's no chance at all, I need to try."

I looked around trying to look for a weapon. I saw an L-shaped metal pipe, so I took it. I also found some tools on a nearby construction site. A hammer, nails, screw driver, and a crowbar.

The metal pipe has a longer range than the rest of these things I found, so I chose it as a weapon. Although it's bad for a zombie since its a blunt weapon, its good enough to smash their heads with.

The crowbar is deadly for zombies, unfortunately its too heavy for me and it can easily get stuck.

The hammer is a good weapon, if it wasn't so short. The screw driver is good for piercing, yet it requires me to be near a zombie, which would be dangerous. The nails, well, it can be used for traps.

I then prepared myself to enter the school buildings. I know for a fact that Karess' room is the building to the left. But who knows where she was when the apocalypse happened.

"Anyway, the left building seems like a nice first choice. Let's clean the building up floor by floor then."

Now, I am definitely not a psychopath. But I know for a fact that zombies are dead humans, so I think its okay? Perspective definitely gives you a different feeling.

If I still think they're human, I might hesitate to kill them, but since I know they are already dead, doesn't matter if I kill them again. Simple mind tricks.

And then I heard footsteps.

Hmm?

I stopped and looked around, the sound also stopped. The whistling winds are blowing on my neck, making my hair stand still. But I saw no one. If it was a zombie, it would still continue walking at me and try to bite me, but no.

So I continued walking, and I heard the footsteps again. And I looked down.

It was me, I was walking on a gravel path so of course I would make a sound when I walk. I sped up to the building quicker.

I reached for the door, but I stopped for a moment. I thought of a strategy. And that's to open one door and make the zombies come out of it, so that I can smack them one by one whenever they come out.

And so I did what I thought, I opened the door and shouted,

"To the people inside the building, don't come out, the dead don't understand me, but the living do, so stay where you are and I will draw the dead for you."

Yes, it was stupid, but hey, if I can save more lives, I can get a bigger group and I would probably become the leader. That's good now, isn't it?

"Also don't speak, they'll come for you instead."

"Okaaay!"

Ah sh8, someone yelled. That's one less person, may God bless you.

"Haaak!"

I shouted again,

"Don't answer me! Just stay silent and stay where you are!"

And this time, no one was stupid enough to yell for confirmation. The zombies walk slowly, so they took a while before they found the way out.

I kept reminding the people inside that someone is outside.

Sometimes a zombie from outside can hear me, but because I am smart hehe, I closed the gate of the school, and no one is on the field, the buildings are far from each other. All are three stories so the people inside the left building should hear me.

I heard moans and growls coming toward me from inside the building, so I readied myself.

I lifted the metal pipe and smashed the zombie's head when it came out. The blood splattered on the ground and on my shirt. I was shaking, it's my first time killing a zombie of course.

But there's no time to reflect on what happened, as another zombie came out. Thankfully, the door was small enough for only one zombie to pass through.

I wanted to write countless zombies were killed that night, but I'd be lying, it was around a hundred and fifty. I counted of course, I was nervous as fuck. I was constantly thinking when a zombie might come from behind, and the only thing keeping me sane at that time was counting.

Thanmfully, Karess was not one of the zombies, so there is still hope.

I went inside and checked the hallways of the whole building first so that I know there are no zombies wandering around. And since the buildings were brightly lit, I could see very clearly. Or else I would have a hard time seeing.

When there were no more zombies in the building, I shoved the bodies aside.

And then I went room by room. There are five rooms per floor so it isn't that scary. I mean who knows whether there are 500 zombies in a room, right? Hahahahaha...

I opened the first door, and I saw three people quivering by the side. It seems like the room was an office.

I told the them,

"I was the one who shouted a while ago. Now stand up, the hallways are clear now. Those are dead people, they aren't alive, so kill them or else they kill you. Understand?"

The three of them stood up, two female students, and a male student.

"What happened?"

I asked them.

The tall guy then told me what happened. He's Jeremy, and the two girls were Kim and Kayla. They were supposed to submit their papers but the apocalypse happened. The teachers tried to protect them, but they turned and became zombies. And they have been hiding since.

While listening to their story, I searched around the room for useful things. I saw lots of pens, so I gathered them all, and I gave them to the students.

"Get your bags, empty them and out these ballpens inside a pocket, in times of need, a ballpen can be a weapon, as zombies have soft bodies. Also, collect any food, water and other useful stuff, like maps or weapons or bags to carry more stuff. We need to survive."

Yep, I knew it, I am the only one who knows about zombies. These kids don't know shit about them.

"If you are done, stay in the hallway, and put your bags on the floor and carry a weapon. To kill a zombie, aim for the head, and don't let them bite you. None of you were bitten, right?"

They checked their bodies and none of them were bitten. They followed my instructions. It seems like they treat me as a leader, my mind trick worked.

"I'll go to other rooms, there might be more people left."

And so I left the room, while the students were doin their tasks.
