2 Day 0 Part 2

I went out of the room and continued to the second room. It was just on the other side of the hallway so it wasn't that far.

It seemed like someone is banging on the door so I prepared my self for a fight, who knows, it might have been a zombie.

And in the count of three, I pushed the door open to push the one who was banging at the door. This way, I actually gave myself time to discern my surroundings and react promptly.

I looked over and saw a zombie trying to get up, another zombie stuck between desks, and someone hiding inside a big cabinet.

"I knew it was a zombie."

I said to my self, after all, why would someone bang the door, they could just open the door. But no, zombies aren't that smart, well, they shouldn't be, should they? At least the one I met wasn't smart.

I quickly swung my metal pipe and smashed the zombie on the floor's head. I walked towards the zombie stuck in between desks and smashed its head. To someone who knows what a zombie is, that was the correct course of action, but to someone who don't, they would have hesitated and would probably go to the person inside the cabinet.

Now that is a bad course of action, one must eliminate the threats first, before rescue. Unless in extreme cases where you can't eliminate the zombies fast enough, then at least buy some time for the rescue to be finished.

I then walked towards the cabinet to see someone sitting inside. It's quite a spacious cabinet. Well, now it's spacious, the items inside are now outside and broken. Seemed like science stuff, probably a science classroom.

"I'm gonna open the cabinet now, okay? It's fine now."

I told the person inside the cabinet.

The person nodded and slowly got up. I also opened the cabinet door and let the person out. I was sure he was a girl because of the hair, but I guess you can never be too sure when it comes to gender huh, you always have to ask.

"So, who are you? Why are you here? What happened?"

It's a kid. A very terrified kid.

"You- you killed my mom!"

And I looked at the corpses and saw a corpse of a woman, which is probably his mom.

"No I did not. I--"

"Yes you did! I saw you smash her head! Please don't hurt me!"

I don't know what to do, if he cries loud enough, other zombies would probably hear it so I hugged the kid, I'm not really good with kids, but i hugged him and pat his back.

"No I won't, I did not kill your mom, I gave her freedom."

A mind trick.

And the kid cried softly, but its getting louder. That's dangerous, there could be a few zombies near us, and his loud cry could make us in a difficult situation.

"Hey, don't cry, be strong. Now go out into the hallway, there are people waiting out there, okay?"

The kid nodded, still whimpering but at least he didn't cry out loud, and got out of the room. He was pretty obedient, he is really strong for a kid, you know? I mean he saw his mom getting bitten to death and smashed through the head, its absolutely normal to be angry, sad, and broken, but he held together.

I looked around the room, it's a class room, just some chairs and desks. Nothing useful at the moment. Although they can be good obstacles, but for now, I have to tour around the building, see if there are other survivors.

I went out and saw the third room by the other end of the hallway, so I had to pass by Jeremy and his friends. They seemed shocked still, but I guess its normal, they don't know the zombie apocalypse like I do.

I waved at them and continued walking. I now reached the third room and I opened the room. It was a quiet library. With a table in the middle, scattered chairs, and books on the walls, the windows are opened and howling winds are blowing looks through my ears.

There are no signs of activity except the open window, so I walked towards it. What I found outside the window is a pretty big ditch and a zombie down at the bottom of the ditch, eating a dead body.

"Must be the one who shouted "okay" a while back. He probably got too excited so he shouted and forgot that there was a zombie nearby."

I thought the metal pipe would probably not be a good choice for long range, even if the zombie is, like, 4 feet away from the window. A screw driver would suite as an arrow for now, good thing I found three screw drivers when I searched the construction site. It should be enough.

I searched for the screw drivers in my bag and put one in my hand. I aimed at the head of the zombie, obviously I am not good at aiming, I don't know how to aim at all. But if I don't practice now, when will I? So I threw the screw driver, hoping for the best.

Aaaaand I missed... What can I say, it's hard, it's my first time, it would have been nice though if I did hit the zombie's head.

I aimed another screw driver at the zombie's head, and this time I hit the head, though it didn't pierce the skin, so now it knows someone is shooting at him.

Zombie's aren't smart but they know when someone is near them, so it snarled and turned around and looked at me. I was scared as fuu but I quickly aimed another screw driver and threw it hard, this time I was able to pierce it's head.

"Phew, nearly fucked my self there."

I planned to get those screw drivers when I'm finished with this building. But I forgot later on.

I left the room and proceeded to the fifth room, the second floor and third floor. I did not see Karess, at least, not her corpse. That's still good news though, means she wasn't dead, here, sighs, I still hope she's alive.

I returned to the hallway and saw the 30 people that I rescued. They looked at me with gratitude but also with wariness. After all, why would someone try to save them when they don't know each other.

"I am MJ, I was the one who shouted outside. Don't worry, I came here to find someone, but I didn't find this someone so I'll continue to the other buildings."

"Unfortunately, a person died because he shouted back at me, quite the unlucky guy you know? But at least we are still alive right?"

The people looked at me.

"Now you might be confused and don't know what's happening, I don't know either. But I do know these monsters. Once humans, but are now dead and are trying to eat you. I call them zombies."

The people looked at me, expectant of an explanation. So I gave them one,

"They are dead people, but for some unknown reason they come back to life. They are now dangerous, and no they cannot become human again, after all, they died already."

I looked at the bags in the hallway. They seem to not understand what I mean by useful things. They brought money and stuff, like they're still gonna buy in stores. I searched through my pockets and found my lighter. Not that I smoke though, I use it as a flashlight. I was thinking of burning the money, but I didn't.

I have to explain to them the world we're in, or they might become a burden.

"Listen here fellas, money is not useful anymore, no one is gonna sell their supplies for pieces of papers. What survivors like us need is a food, water, weapons, and a good base. How many people were in that building, yet only 30 people are left huh, translate that to the twelve billion people living on earth. The survivor count is dwindling each second, remember that. "

I looked through their stuff and found no useful things. Well, I did found some but they were food and water for these people. I don't wanna take them, that'd be stealing. So instead I left the building and walked to the other side of the campus, the building to the right. The building on the middle is really big so it might have many zombies inside, I'll leave it for last.

I heard running sounds behind me so I immediately turned around. It was Jeremy and his two girls. Ahh, how I wish to be sociable.

"Why are you here?"

I asked, although I thought they might want to come with me. Or maybe they just wanted to say thanks, don't wanna assume, it might kill me from embarrassment.

"We want to come with you, we don't know what to do!"

Shouted Kayla, I immediately shushed her.

"Don't shout idiot! The zombies are sensitive to sound!"

I explained to them how zombies work.

The conversation might not have started with that, I don't know, I forget things. I'll just write what we talked about.

So I asked them about the others on why they didn't come with them. Kim said they didn't want to group with me. I guess they don't trust me that much.

I asked about the kid, apparently the kid had his father with him, so he was taken by his father.

I hope they would survive.

Just as we were about to enter the building though, I heard running noises, so I immediately stepped back and ran to the side. Jeremy and the others did, too.

Moments later, a person came out of the building followed by a horse of zombies.
