1 Camping trip

I never thought myself writing a diary someday and that is because i never viewed my everyday life as anything special. But something very extraordinary happened which changed my view on life completely, somehow me and my friend Saul ended up in a fantasy world. I will start my diary with the day that changed everything and that was the day Saul and i had planned for camping.

[2015.03.20]: Saul had arrived early in the morning to pick me up, i wasn't quite ready with my backpack as i was still missing few important things. ''Oh come on! We planned this trip two Months ago and you are still backing your backpack?'' He cried out loud as hes been waiting this camping trip so eagerly. I didn't pay much attention to his yapping and kept packing, to be honest i wasn't happy about this trip at all... I had too much shit going on my life at that moment but he insisted that it would do good for me to get out into the nature. I only agreed to it because i was always interested to see how an overweight guy like Saul enjoyed hiking and camping so much. Once i was ready we hit the road, i had no idea where we were going but it took us 12 hours to arrive in Saul's special location where no one ever goes. We unpacked the car and started hiking uphill in to the forest, once we got to the top of the hill, a magnificent view opened to us. We were staring a sea of trees in front of us and you couldn't see the end of the forest. I became nervous after seeing that, it looked like we could easily get lost and never find our way back. Saul flashed me his GPS which would show us the way back to the car, so i wasn't that afraid to enter the forest anymore. After hours of hiking we managed to arrive Saul's special location before nightfall, i was dead beat but Saul started immediately setting up our tent without taking any rest. After the tent was set up, Saul started cooking with his small propane stove. We sat to a nearby log to enjoy our meals and stared into the dark woods which gave me this strong magical sensation. After eating we went straight to sleep.

[2015.03.21]: We woke up early in the morning to a weird noise coming outside of our tent. We first thought if it was a bear snooping around our tent and was too scared to peek outside, but when the noise did not disappear, Saul grabbed two bear spray from his backpack and gave me the other. We opened slowly the zipper of the tent and peeked outside ready to spray the living shit out of that bear, but what we saw was not a bear... It was an animal we have never seen before, it looked like some type of deer but it had a black fur and transparent like horns on its head and yellow eyes. We both were creep out of it and started spraying bear spray at it until it ran away. Saul tried rationalize and pass it as a new unknown species or some weird mutation that managed to escape from some research facility, but soon we realized that we were not on earth anymore as we were looking around us. The forest around us was different from yesterday, trees were 3 to 5 times larger and longer, weird plants surrounding us and lastly a gnome looking creature staring at us from a tree branch. We managed to scare the gnome looking creature away by throwing few rocks at it. We were scared and shocked, Saul tried to use his GPS to locate our location but it had no signal, phones had no signal but again the phones did not have signal yesterday either. We started throwing crazy theories at each other ranging from alien abduction to hallucination. When we understood our current situation and nothing was changing, we backed everything and went to explore. Some plants seemed to be carnivorous so we avoided those far away, however even though there was so much new around us, there were still things we recognized and it eased our anxiety in this bizarre world.

While we were moving forward, we noticed more of those weird gnome looking creatures following us in the tree branches so once in awhile we threw rocks to scare them away. Saul noticed that the forest around us had become silent, while earlier it was full of life. We didn't like the silence, so we pulled our trusty bear sprays from backpacks and got ready to spray anything that dared to come near us. Soon we heard some yelling which sounded like human speech, so we decided to run towards the voice and once we got over a hill to the location where yells had come from, we noticed a group of people in the distance running. We smiled after seeing human beings in this weird place and started to run towards them yelling help. They noticed us and started to run towards us, we thought we were saved but then noticed that something else was running behind the people, a horrible looking monster were chasing the people and the people were now leading the beast towards us. Me and Saul started to run away from the group of people with everything we had, we tried to shake them away by spraying them with a bear spray but they slowly started to pass us 1 by 1 until we were the last ones and the huge beast right behind us which looked like a hybrid of a bear and gorilla, but the head was that of a goat. We started spraying our bear sprays at it, but it didn't slow down at all. Now i had to make a heaviest decision in my life, i started dropping my equipment which was slowing me down, that beast was not going to stop... It had determined to have a human meal, so i only have to be faster than Saul. I started sprinting with everything i had leaving Saul behind, i managed to make a gap and hide behind tree while Saul was chased by the monster.

I watched from the distance how the beast leaped towards my friend and tripped him to the ground, Saul's last desperate attempt was throwing his foods at the beast who gulped down everything in one go, but the beast was determined to eat a human and Saul accepted his fate... Saul stared at me with a smile on his face when the beast was about to gulp him in one go, but suddenly the beast stopped. It was coughing and moaning in pain and suddenly huge burst of vomit was puked on top of Saul and then the beast fell dead on ground leaving Saul shocked. I couldn't believe my eyes what had just happened, so i went to Saul who was covered in vomit and asked him what happened. ''I'm not entirely sure, but i think it died because of the chocolate i fed to it earlier'' he said while wiping vomit off. I heard that chocolate is poisonous to most animals, but is it really that deadly to monsters? Next time if i'm facing death situation against a monster, i definitely bring chocolate bar as my weapon.

The people who lured the monster at us came from their hiding places and seemed shocked to see the beast dead, they were speaking weird language which i did not understand while pointing fingers at the monster and us, probably thinking we defeated it. The people cut the head of the beast and grabbed us by hand and lead to their village, they were showing the head around the village and people were cheering. Some old dude came to us and dropped on all fours, every other villager did the same, it looked like we were being worshiped by them. They lead us to some type of main building of the village and served us food and alcohol rest of the day.
