3 Diary of an abused wife episode 2
Kameela woke up with her throat sore. It's been 2 weeks after the death of her father and they were still mourning him,after all the sorrow and pain wouldn't just disappear. She went to check on her mother who has been skipping meals of late. As she entered the room she felt some way to be in her fathers room without him in it. There her mum was sitting on the bed looking so weak and fragile. She was wearing her hijab with her Quran on her laps. She was gazing up and tears were streaming down her face. Kameela went further in and sat beside her mum and said in a low voice" are you going to continue like this forever? When will you stop starving yourself. Baba wouldn't want you suffering yourself like this wherever he is". Her mum turned to look at her with her sullen face and said "Don't worry about me. I was just missing his presence and I became overwhelmed by my thoughts. Get me a cup of tea, okay ?".
Kameela sighed heavily and stood up to go get her mum some tea. She felt glad that at least she was ready to take something. She poured some water into a cup and got a boiling ring and plugged it. As she waited for the water to boil she couldn't help but think of what will happen if Ndagi Abbas came back to the absence of her father, will he throw them out to the streets. No she thought , she would rather beg him to let her take up her fathers position. After all he doesn't stay around that long before he's off again. She can't even remember much about him . Is he friendly? , would he help them. She doesn't know .All these went through her mind.
The tea was ready and she went back to give it to her mum. She watched as she took slow sips because it was still hot. Kameela sighed and asked " what type of a man is Ndagi Abbas". Mama turned to her daughter and wondered what would warrant such a question. Oh well she thought. " Ndagi abbas is a very secretive man that doesn't have much friends. He is very generous with his wealth but he always behaves as if he has some serious issues but I can't say for sure. Whenever he comes around he usually buys you a lot of gifts as he always says he loves children. I sometime ask him why he has none and he always complains that he hasn't met any sensible wife to fit him. He sometimes had women visit him but they would leave in tears after a few months of dating and I confronted one of the ladies at a point. You'll be surprised at what she said, that he has been hitting her for small mistakes and today she got fed up so she broke it off with him. But she could have said that just to spoil his name. I really don't know".Kameela was shocked to the core hearing the bad rumor about her late fathers boss. She hoped it wasn't true because she wouldn't be able to stomach the thought of living in the house of a man who treats women like punching bags. Oh well she better go and start washing the clothes she intended washing before. She excused herself.
