29 To the Rescue

Diary 10:

The next morning, after breakfast, Long Dao and I packed our stuff and headed out.

"Where is the horse carriage?" I asked her when I was just outside of the gate.

"No need for one," she replied calmly.

"Sooo… how are we going there? Walk?"

"You have three seconds to prepare yourself," Long Dao suddenly said. "One, two…"

"Wait, what?" I was shocked.

"Three!" then my eyes were dark and my head hurt. I opened my eyes and all I could see were trees.

"Told you to prepare yourself," Long Dao smirked. She was still standing while I was laying on the ground.

"You didn't give me time!" I quickly stood up and brushed the dirt off my clothes. "And I just bought this yesterday," I frowned a little. "And how in the world are we here right now. Aren't we just at your house a moment ago?" I asked.

"Teleport," she answered with just one word.

"Isn't that one of the spells in the book Van Kiep gave me?" I quickly checked the skill tab to read the skill again.

[Teleport (cooldown: 3 hours):

Explanation: This spell lets players instantly transport to a location. The range to teleport is depending on how powerful the user's magic stats are.]

"Ok?" I thought to myself. "But there isn't even a character tab for me to check my stats. How the hell can I check how strong I am. Isn't this a flaw in the game design?" I then looked up at the sky and pointed up, "Devs! Why do you make this game so hard? Isn't I supposed to be the overpowered main character? Explain to me!"

"What are you doing?" Long Dao looked at me weirdly.

"Oh," I looked at her and got embarrassed. "I am just exercising. Haha," then I pretended to do some basic exercise moves.

"Sh!" Long Dao suddenly signaled me. She then lowered herself. Seeing that, I did the same.

"What is wrong?" I asked.

Instead of answering, she just pointed down. Apparently, we were in a forest located on a mountain. I looked in the direction of her finger and saw a group of people walking. I saw four horsemen at the front with a carriage in the middle and another four horsemen at the back.

"Look like an important person is inside that carriage," I whispered to Long Dao. She replied with a silent nod while still keeping her eyes closed on the group of people.

Then, out of nowhere, some men in black jumped out from all directions and attacked the group. The horsemen were surprised at the sudden attack so they didn't prepare themselves. All eight of them were killed almost instantly.

"What is happening outside?" a voice from inside the carriage.

"There are some bandits, but we took care of them," one of the men in black replied.

"Is that so. Hurry up then. We need to get back before the sunset," the person inside ordered.

"I understand," the man in black answered. Then all five of them took the horses and continued the walk. Acting like it was nothing.

"General, wouldn't that person hear the voice difference?" I asked quietly.

"Of course they know. They are only pretending," Long Dao answered.

"We should help them then," I said.

"Those five are risky for us to fight, and I have used all my energy to teleport here, or else I could have secretly sneaked them away," Long Dao grinned at her teeth.

"That is true. From the capital of Lai to Lan, the distance must be extremely far," I admitted. Then I realized, "I can help her."

"How?" Long Dao asked.

"Just wait and you'll see," I smiled and then stood up. The men in black and the carriage were far away enough that it was safe now.

"Activate Eyes Deception," I whispered.

[Eyes Deception Activated] the system announced.

Let me explain this skill for you,

[Eyes Deception (cost: as long as the user's energy is enough to support the skill), (cooldown: 1 hour):

Explanation: The user can target what they want to be invisible in front of them. The more targets, the more energy required to use this skill]

"Din! What are you doing?" Long Dao whispered.

"Don't worry about me. Wait here," I smiled and sneakily followed the path of the men in black. Once I caught up and saw them, I hid behind a tree to target all five of them.

"I am still not confident enough to go now," I thought to myself. I then opened the skill tab again to see if there was anything else useful.

"Oh? This will help," I finally found it.

[Silent World (cooldown: 1 hour) (duration: 5 minutes)

Explanation: the user won't make any sound during the duration.]

"Simple yet effective," I smiled. "Activate Silent World," I whispered.

[Silent World activated. Countdown starting] the game screen appeared again.

"Five minutes are way more than enough," I thought and finally was confident enough to take action.

Even though the description explained that I won't make any sound, I still walked as quietly as I could behind the men.

I then walked faster and passed two men in black guarding the back of the carriage. My heart was beating so fast that I was afraid they could hear it, but that didn't happen.

Seeing that I was successful at those two, I gained a bit more confidence to go up to the front. There were three men guarding there and none of them seemed to notice me.

I quickly went up the carriage, lifted the curtain, and slowly closed it when I was inside.

"Who are you?" a surprisingly calm voice behind my back.

"Sh!" I quickly put my hand on their mouth.

Now that I saw them, it turned out that they were a girl and a very pretty one. She was wearing a very fancy dress, so that justified that she is an important person.

"Stop," a man's voice from outside ordered everyone else. In the carriage, I could see from his shadow that he got out of the horse and was walking towards us.
