28 My Dream

"Why?" she glanced at me.

"Well, since I have read the letter anyway," I smiled.

"That reason is not good enough," Long Dao denied me.

"Come on!" I nagged her. "I want to know more about this world. Staying here will make me waste my time. And at least, two brains are better than one right?"

Long Dao opened her eyes a little bit and closed again, "I am not sure about your last statement there."

"?" was my face. It took me a second to realize, "Hey! I am not stupid!" I almost yelled at Long Dao when I realized what she meant.

"You sure are looking like one though," She smirked.

"Ha?" I didn't understand what she meant.

"Nothing," Long Dao stood up while still smirking. "Let's go back now. We will go by tomorrow."

"So… you agree to let me tag along?" I asked.

"Hurry or else I will change my mind?" Long Dao walked away.

"Yes!" I yelled inside. "Wait for me!" I quickly ran up to her, and we went back to Long Dao's house. When we arrived, the sun was already setting. Time seems to move faster when you are enjoying the moments.

"Uhm… general?" I called her when we were in front of the gate.

"What?" she turned looking at me.

"Can I stay here?" I really looked like a beggar this time.

"Why?" she asked.

"Uhm…" I scratched my head. "We are going in the early morning right?"

"Yes," she answered.

"So the camp gate won't be opened at that time unless I wake up the soldier that has the key. By then, my friends will notice that I have been missing, they will somehow soon find out that I am with you. You don't want rumors in our camp right?" I explained.

"I am surprised that you are able to make friends," Long Dao asked.

"What's wrong with you? People like me!" I pretended to be offended.

"Sure, sure," Long Dao ignored me and walked in. I cautiously followed her to see if she would yell at me to go back to the camp or not. Not seeing any reaction from her, I became confident and went up next to her.

"What is for dinner?" I was hungry already.

"Who knows? Ask the maid," she told me.

We then went inside the house and got into our room separately. After having my nice bath, I walked out to see once again, Long Dao already sitting at the dining table with the dishes presented. As usual, the dishes were simple and small.

We then had our usual quiet meal and went to bed early for the journey tomorrow. But before that, I quickly used my time to write the last diary. "Finally! I am all caught up now!" I was pretty happy about it because you don't know how terrible it is to always think you have to finish something.

Now, I can have a better time absorbing what this world has to offer to me. "Tomorrow I will be a great day!" I smiled to myself and went to sleep.

But then, I had a dream. A battle between Lai and Hoa with Long Dao being the general of Lai. On the opposite side, I couldn't see the general from Hoa because of the sun behind them.

The battle was chaotic. Many people died from both sides and none of the sides refused to retreat. Finally at night, like a silent agreement, both Long Dao and the other general pulled their troops back to their camps.

In that dream, I was hiding at a mountain nearby to have a bird's eye view of the full battle. Then, I quickly went down and sneaked into Lai's camp.

After a quick look around, I found Long Dao's tent and went inside.

"Hey, are you injured anywhere?" I asked. I don't know why I just went all-natural like that.

"Is that you Din?" she was facing away from me and turned her head back. "I am doing fine… Ugh!" Long Dao suddenly vomited blood and collapsed before my eyes.

"Long Dao!" I yelled at the top of my lungs and woke up.
