26 Arranged Marriage (End for now)

Suddenly the door opened. From inside the room, Long Dao walked out.

"Let's go," she told me and walked away. I followed behind her.

"General, what were you guys talking about there?" I asked her while we were walking out of the mansion.

"None of your business," she answered coldly.

"Hey! You drag me into this, I deserve to know too!"

Long Dao slowly looked at me and sighed, "My father called me to talk to the man he wanted me to marry. That is all."

"So how did it turn out? What do you think of him?" using this opportunity, I want to know what she thought of him.

"Now that is where you don't need to know. That is none of your business," Long Dao finished and got inside the horse carriage. She left me standing there by myself dying on the cliff hanger.

"Are you kidding me! Just one more second, game system! This is the second time you did this to me!" I was scratching my head furiously.

"Din, why are you standing there? Hurry up," Long Dao called from the carriage.

"Oh, I'm coming," I quickly went inside as well and sat down. "Wait a minute, why did you bring me here? I literally did nothing for me to do here," I asked Long Dao.

She kept silent. After a while, she said, "I was assigned to go to the border between Lai and Lan to guard."

"Hey! You are avoiding my question?" I yelled inside but had to keep myself together, "Why all of the sudden?" I asked.

"Lan looks like it is about to make a move. The king, and my father, were worried about what threat they could bring. In the room, my father gave the king's word and told me to guard the border," Long Dao explained.

"Do you have any thoughts about what they might do?" I asked.

"Not at the moment. Lan has been so quiet that I didn't look much into them," Long Dao shook her head. "But now thinking about it. I wonder why they pulled back their army fifteen years ago?"

"So she has no idea about the agreement of the three kings," I thought to myself.

After that, we just had a quiet ride back to Long Dao's house. When we arrived, it was already late. "Sleep here tonight. The camp is already locked by now," Long Dao told me.

"Thank you, general," there was no need for me to decline her offer. Do you know how comfortable Long Dao's guest room is?

Long Dao then knocked on the gate and a servant came out to open it. We both walked in and Long Dao went straight into her room. "Does the general always go straight to her room like that?" I asked the servant.

"Yes, it is my lady's habit," they answered.

"Is that so," I spoke while looking at her room. "So it is not because she hates me."

"Well then, good night," the servant bowed to me.

"Oh, you have a good night too," I quickly responded and the servant walked away.

I walked into my room too and started writing down my diary for the days before. After finishing diary 6, I went outside to get some water. When I was going back to my room, I saw Long Dao was sitting at the front door, looking at the moon.

"This is so cliche," I thought. "But it also must mean I should talk to her."

And so, I slowly walked to her while trying to keep my footsteps quiet. "What are you doing here?" I sat down next to her.

"And you?" she asked with a surprised face.

"I was drinking water then saw you here when I was coming back to my room," I answered.

"Well you should go back, we only have two days left until going to the border," Long Dao took her eyes off me and looked at the moon again.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked, also looking at the moon.

"Nothing much," she answered calmly.

Slowly, I turned my head and took a quick peek at Long Dao. She looked so much more relaxed right now, wearing sleeping clothes with her hair naturally fall back, and sitting with a straight back. At the end of the day, no matter what she does, Long Dao can not cover her noble aura. With the bright moon as the background, I knew that this was a setup from the game system. But still, I couldn't help my poor heart from skipping another beat.

"Din," Long Dao called me.

"Yes, general?" I replied.

"When we first met, I told you that you could stay in my troops if you are willing to fight. I never said that you are required to stay," she was hinting something at me.

I smiled, then answered, "No need to think for me general, I follow you until you don't need me anymore. Besides, right now I have nowhere to go anyway."

Hearing that, Long Dao finally took her eyes off the moon and looked at me. "Is that so?" she said quietly. Then quickly looked at the moon again.

Seeing her reaction, I knew that I had scored another point. Since the game system has given me this opportunity, I might as well take full advantage of it.

"Let's go inside, we will both get sick if we keep sitting outside on this cold night," I suggested.

"You go in first. I'll sit here for a little bit more," Long Dao replied softly. Her eyes were still at the moon.

"Hey general!" I called her.

"What?" she replied but with a softer tone this time.

"Why do you keep looking at the moon like that?" I was curious.

"..." she didn't say anything. So I took the hint and kept silent.

"Let's go in now," Long Dao finally said. She stood up and I did the same as well.

We both walked inside and returned to our room without saying anything else. Well, I was about to say good night but Long Dao was already closing her door when I was about to open my mouth.

"I wonder how Van Kiep is doing right now," I thought to myself while laying in the bed trying to sleep. "I hope she will finish it fast and come back to me."

And slowly, I fell asleep and ended another day.

End of diary.
