02 | FIRST DAY AT CROWN LAKE

Its been a week since the school tour and I was supposed to be at school today but I told them that I wasn't going today. Mom said it was okay but I had to promise her I would go tomorrow which I did. I called Anna to tell her I wasn't going to make it. She picked up at the second try.

"Hey girlie! When are you coming? Your siblings are here already."

"Oh sorry to break your heart, love. I won't be able to make it today, I'll be there tomorrow."

"What???.....OMG!!!! I've been waiting to see you for like forever! How could you???"

"Sorry babe!", I said with a tinge of pity. She's been dying to see me for like forever! " I can't because I'm still a bit scared and nervous. Crown Lake is no big joke!", I was literally bawling.

"Scared of what, scary cat, huh? Yasmin and Wesley promised  you backup and everyone is dying to see you. Come on!!"

"Wait? Really? Even Nathaniel? My secret and not so secret crush?!!", I asked.

"Yes darling and relax, he said he can't wait to see you. You know, I'm starting to believe there is a chemistry?"

"Yeah, I know. But don't worry. I'll be there tomorrow."

"Okay I have to ho now. Bye!"

"Bye love!"

Anna was such a darling. She was giving me second thoughts about not coming to school today. I am storming that school tomorrow. Nathan was my crush since the first time we met back in Canada at Anna's birthday party. Since then I've had this huge crush on him.

When Anna told me he attended Crown Lake after he moved to Nigeria, I almost puked in my on my floral designer dress. Nathan was literally the mist breathtaking, handsome fifteen year old I've ever set my eyes on.

I spent the rest of the day  getting things ready, packed my bags for the dorm (and, yes, Crown Lake was a boarding school. Which made it more terrifying!) and also went shopping took a nap I use my phone until Wes and Yasmin came back and yes they agreed to stay back to I was ready to go to Crown Lake and I was so happy because they're so supportive and i was finally  going to go with to school tomorrow.

I woke up this morning to the  sound of my alarm clock by 6:45 a.m. I was damn excited about going to school  today. I was still wondering what Nathan thought about me or if he liked me as much as I liked him.

I'm at the eye agreed to get me talk to Nathaniel think you you like me much as I did and believe me I still think nervous about all of it mean what if he didn't like me?

Oh well I was doomed!

I go talk to bed brush my teeth and got  dressed. I was getting my hair ready when Wesley knocked on the door to call me down for breakfast.

knock! knock! knock!

"Mondie, can I come in?"

"Yeah, sure", I said as i hooked in my last hair pin.

He walked in dressed in the schools uniform ad his hair looked quiet messy as a few strands fell down to his face. To be honest, he looked quiet hot today, but I was never admitting that to him. He wore his  school badge that had the title Mr. Hamilton.

"Hi Wes, good morning!"

"Hey, I was about to call you down for breakfast. You look good, by the way."

"Of course i do."

"Hope your bags are packed cause after breakfast were leaving for Crown Lake immediately."

"Yeah,  I had everything packed yesterday. So I'm good to go."

"Okay so you better come down for breakfast."

Wes smiled and left, I sat there staring at the door that closed shut. I imagined my life at Crown Lake. I mean I had heard a lot of things about the school and beside the school belongs to my family. What could possibly go wrong? Was I going to live it at Crown Lake? I guess there was only one way to find out. I put my phone into my bag and rushed down for breakfast.

"Good morning, Diana. You look good and ready to rock your ass off at Crown Lake!", Yasmin said.

" Good morning Yasmin. I'm still very nervous you know," I sigh and drop my bag to the couch and make my way to the dinner table.

"You don't have to worry darling, its natural but trust me, you will get over it. And besides your stay at Crown Lake is going to be good. One step at a time okay? I got you covered," she said.

I shrugged and ate breakfast. After a while it goes silent and the only noise that can be heard form our cutleries and Wes seemed quite busy on his phone, Yasmin seemed very fat away form the present. I hadn't seen mom all morning so I decided to ask.

"Umm, Yasmin? Where's mom, I haven't seen her all morning?"

"Well she left quite early because she was travelling for a business trip that's two weeks long."

"Two weeks??"

"Yeah, dad's coming back tomorrow and besides we will be in the boarding house so no worries," she shrugged.

"Uh...huh! Whatever," I replied quiet carelessly.

Twenty minutes after that we were in the car on our way to school. I was a bit nervous about the whole Crown Lake thing. Wes sat at the front seat, he seemed quiet calm and cool. Which was the opposite of what I was right now.

Come to think of it, he had absolutely nothing to worry about. After all, he was Mr. Hamilton, the second in command at the prestigious academy of Crown Lake. He had everything he wanted. Fame,  friends, attention, power, and a hot girlfriend and any other thing his position at Crown Lake had to offer.

I on the other hand, had a gazillion things to worry about. I was really nervous their was no denying that. What happens if the people I have to spend the next three years with in a boarding school end up being snobbish bullies and I happened to be their victim??

I sighed and looked out if the window. I was just probably over thinking these things. By now the driver was out of the estate and from what I could tell we were about five minutes from Crown Lake.

As we approached the school's gate, I fell back into the present as the driver waited patiently to be checked in. All of a sudden fear and anxiety gripped  me as I remembered Yasmin's words when I fist came to Crown Lake. Was I doomed? Who was going to betray me? I kept thinking until I thought I heard my name.

"Diana! Come on let's go!" Wes said as he and Yasmin grabbed their backpacks and were about to leave the car. I snapped back to reality and grabbed mine and left with them hurriedly.

We came out of the school's driveway and headed to the walkway that led to our classrooms. A lot if students came to welcome my sister and my brother barely taking notice of me. They both made their way to the school hall while I on the other hand was on my way to class making sure I wouldn't get lost.

I walked into the classrooms and all I eyes were on me. I never fancied the attention but considering my family's well known background I had gotten used to it. I stood looking for Annabel before I notice had approach me and drag me to the back if the class.

I did my best trying to avoid the intense gaze from my new classmates and focused what Annabel was trying to say.

"Hey, Diana! I'm so glad you finally made it!," she squealed while hugging me very tightly.

"I'm glad to see you too!," I said as she finally loosened her tight grip on me.

She took me to her desk and I took the one next to her. The whole class had returned to normal which was a relief to me. I finally noticed a group if boys who were talking and staring at me on regular occasions.

that's when it struck me.

Nathaniel! It was my long time crush! I couldn't believe it. All of a sudden I became self conscious. He was tall, cute and extremely handsome with his dark blonde hair and bright hazel eyes. His uniform well fitted that made more breathtakingly handsome.

When I noticed him smirking at me, I felt the blood rush up my cheeks as I looked away quickly realising I was drooling longer than usually. You couldn't blame me though. He was really handsome.

I looked around the group and noticed my cousin, Gabriel and some other unfamiliar faces around Nathan. I almost forgot that Anna was right beside me and watching me drool over Nathan with a knowing look.

"I think someone's coming your way!," she giggled.

I glanced over my shoulder and saw Nathan coming towards me. I could hear my heart beating in my ears. I was nervous.

"Hi!," he said, his eyes gazing at me from head to toe.

I blushed.

"Hey!"

"You look beautiful!"

I blushed harder this time "Thank you!,"

oh my gosh!!!!!

"I heard you came to stay here in Nigeria and I thought to give a tour around this town. If you don't mind."

"Oh, I would love to, but -", Anna hit me at the back, "ouch!"

"- she would love for you to take her on a tour, Nathan", Anna said, giving me the look.

"Really?! Thanks. I'll see you after school, maybe after lunch four pm by the basketball court."

"Yeah of course. I'll meet you there."

"See you later. It's time for assembly."

When he left, Anna dragged me out of the class. "What the hell Annabel??"

"Don't you dare scold me young lady! What did you think you were doing back there?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You were about to miss your opportunity to go on a date with your crush! Do you know how many girls would jump at his request?!"

"Uh...no?"

"Were you too blind to even notice that he was totally flirting with you?"

flirting??...wait...what???

"Flirting??"

She released an exasperated sigh and said "Oh my god! You still have a lot to learn", she paused "Don't worry I got you covered, now come on let's go down for assembly.

Orientation went by quickly once my wardrobe was arranged into my closet I went over to Anna's dorm room.

Hers were adjacent to mine.

When it was time for lunch, I couldn't help but notice Nathan staring at me from where he sat across the room.

He was now in sweats and a black T-shirt and boy did he look so hot! It was quiet hard to look away when I actually took him nothing to look hot and handsome all the time.

I couldn't wait for our evening tour. In fact,  I was looking up to it. I made some friends during lunch who happened to be sharing a few classes with me.

I already looked around for Wes and Yasmin and saw them sitting at their table with their dates who also happened to be Mr Crown Lake and Ms Hamilton. They seemed to be having a good time.

My eyes travelled back across the room and landed on those addictive hazel eyes and I couldn't wait for the evening to come.
