3 Chapter 3: A reunion that isn't all that merry

Naofumi is not happy. Filo begged for more food and Raphtalia was busy talking with Diana's son Tertious. Naofumi looks around and sees Diana washing the empty tables with a wash cloth. But he knows from the way she was holding herself that she had no memory.

He gets up and walks over to her. "Hello miss. May I have your name please?" "Cherry. Everyone calls me that. They say that because of my red hair." Her hair is really long and well maintained. The innkeeper has slaves forced upon him a lot and they are often ladies. The slaves are treated like family while they are in his care until he finds a way to free them.

But Diana was his hardest case yet. The three heroes church actually made her a slave. They thought she was unholy but how would you think an angel was unholy? "I see you met Cherry. I am the innkeeper and I have been trying to break her crest for twenty years now."

"Might I ask how you came by her?" The innkeeper told Naofumi that she was thrown to him because she wouldn't sleep with her last master. Ever since then, she was labeled as an unwanted slave. That landed her on his doorstep. "Pretty much I just try my best to break their crests but I haven't been able to with Cherry over here. The church did a number on her memory too. Along with the crest, they wiped her memory so that she couldn't use her magic.

Because of the church, I have to keep a close eye on her. Otherwise, she will die the same way Freed did." The mention of Diana's last husband was more than enough to get Naofumi on board to help Cherry out. "What do you need me to do?" "Make her fall in love with you. With that, her crest will break."

Without any shadow of a doubt, Naofumi takes Cherry's hand and takes her off on an adventure she will never forget. Raphtalia bought extra food for Cherry because she wanted to make her feel welcome to the group. Cherry looked out at the setting sun for the first time since she went on this adventure.
