Chapter 129 - Make Peace

Diamant walked over to his bed so that she was just some distance away from him. She chuckled painfully, "you are not a very good liar."

That swept the smile cleanly away from his face.

"You would have done anything for my forgiveness, I could see it in your eyes yet I was blind. You were ready to start again. I--I--just.." she raised her hands to her chest, her heart was aching again.

"Really?" He stood up, covering the distance between them so that she had to look up at him. "Why do you continue to fool yourself?"

No! He was trying to hurt her, twist the dagger deeper into her chest, and she could see it. He was trying to zero down the only precious memory of when they had been together peacefully and vulnerably. He was trying to make her miserable, trying to make her question everything.

To punish her.

She could see it and she was more than ready to fight.

That night had felt like everything and no matter what he did, she knew it was precious to him too.
