Devils Among Men

In every world, it is a common fact that if you don't jump to a higher building, you will always live under the shadows of the taller building, unless you are lucky enough to crash while attempting to jump over. As a hitman in his past life, Gu Mickey knew this fact very well. Waking up in an anime he last saw 6 years before his death, where kind sages were the first devils and demons were even more sinister, Gu Mickey must use the power hidden among his discarded F-grade talent to rise to the top and find a way back home with his abilities intact. "Earth is a place where everything appears fine on the surface, but you can't help but wonder what secrets lie hidden behind closed doors. Why would I want to be anywhere else?"

Bound And Helpless.

Mo Bing's eyes slowly opened, and he found himself in an empty room with shimmering lights that almost blinded him.

A flowery scent penetrated his nostrils, causing his head to throb with pain. Yet, there seemed to be a bigger reason for this to happen.

'Wasn't I kidnapped?!'

The memory of what happened earlier flashed in his mind.

He struggled to sit up, but his wrists and ankles were all bound by steel chains like he was a prisoner.

"I truly believed you would die. "

The kidnapper's voice echoed through the room, its near-robotic tone carrying a hint of coldness.

"The head wound you sustained is not something a mortal can survive."

Mo Bing's eyes adjusted, and he saw the kidnapper sitting on the edge of a bed with a knife that was dripping crimson liquid - His dark clothing and mask made him look like an assassin from one of those myths.

"You... You are the one who kidnapped me!" Mo Bing spat, "My mother will never let you get away with this!"

The kidnapper raised a brow, seeing that he was being threatened by the one he kidnapped.

"Really... I would like to see that happen."

Just like what the kidnapper thought, the boy's anger flared up. He didn't seem to understand the situation he was in.

As a mama's boy, he just thought that she would protect him just like when his father died.

He was once a kind and compassionate person, considerate of others' feelings. However, after his father's passing and his mother's subsequent overprotectiveness, his attitude underwent a drastic transformation.

Nevertheless, this stupid backstory meant little to the pair of indifferent eyes fixed on him.

As the old adage goes, "Yesterday's meals won't satisfy today's hunger." In other words, past accomplishments hold no significance for the present self.

The kidnapper meticulously cleaned the blade of his knife, then rose from his position, approaching Mo Bing's seat with deliberate slowness.

"You murderer!" The bald boy's voice was filled with deep fright mixed with fury.

"How could you do that to such a lovely lady!"

The kidnapper didn't turn back to look at the girl with orange hair he left sleeping on the bed, with crimson liquid slowly flowing from her neck.

Mo Bing's face twisted in defiance.

'No, this can't be real, right? There is no way he could kill someone he had just made love with?'

"No one will protect you now, not even your mother."

Hearing the kidnapper's cold voice, Mo Bing's expression became paler.

This man is a lunatic! There is so much he can do to him!

His body shivered like a tennis ball on a hard surface, and his water broke loose, messing up his black school trousers.

Tears flowed out together with snot as he cried out,

"Please don't kill me! I will do anything you ask of me! I beg you, please!"

The kidnapper smiled underneath his mask.

"It is a good thing that you understand the situation you are in."

...

At the crash site, a team of police investigators cordoned off the area, meticulously documenting every detail surrounding the damaged Prado.

A female detective with long ginger hair commented with a deep gaze.

"From the looks of it, there was only one person in the car, and it seemed he was sitting in the back seat."

Her male partner nodded in approval, but there was doubt in his brown eyes.

"But, Detective Kang Yimo, then how could he drive when he was in the passenger seat? Someone was definitely driving this vehicle."

A hint of fear could be perceived from Kang Yimo's next words.

"True, but this person was really meticulous. He left no evidence of any sort, and I am sure he is the person responsible for the dead body we saw near Levels High School.

Detective Min Yize, we are dealing with a professional."

As the investigation team was finishing up, bright blinding lights flashed on them, and they had to halt their movements as they looked at the silver off-road car which parked right before them.

A woman dressed in a formal suit walked out of the lavish car, and everyone raised their brows upon seeing a conglomerate at such a place.

Kang Yimo was the one to walk out to her, "Mo Xie, it is an unexpected event to see you at a place like this."

The two were the same age and former classmates, so there was no need to show respect to the other despite there being a huge difference in social status.

Mo Xie suppressed her anger; she knew that she wouldn't use her authority against someone like the detective.

"The tracker I put on my son showed that he last appeared here. So, I want to find clues about the whereabouts of my one and only son."

Using the words "one and only" showed how much she loved her son and the sadness she felt from his sudden disappearance.

On the other hand, the police shivered in fright. They hadn't confirmed the DNA results from the blood they found on the prado's window, but they were sure it belonged to Mo Bing.

It wasn't a rare thing for children of conglomerates to be kidnapped!

'Things do not look good, and I am sure Mo Xie already knows that her son was kidnapped, and she is only here to see if we made any progress on the issue. I need to be gentle with her before this escalates.' Kang Yimo assessed in her mind as she showed a confident look.

However, she didn't have time to speak to Mo Xie.

The woman's phone suddenly started ringing.

Tu! Tuddu-!

Mo Xie looked at her phone and saw that it was a hidden number. Normally she would give it to her group of assistants behind her or just ignore it.

However, the timing couldn't be too perfect!

Seeing Kang Yimo nod, she answered the call.

"What do you want?"

She had a firm expression which crumbled down in worry and joy from her son's voice which came from the phone;

- "Mom! Please save me! This guy is a freak! He will kill me just like he did to that other girl! Mom, I am so scared!"

The moment Mo Bing started crying, a slapping sound resounded from the phone, and an unfamiliar voice spoke.

"Shut up! Is that what I told you to say?!"

Mo Bing's voice was filled with fear and seemed like he was looking at a devil.

"How, can I, memorize, all these lines? I am so sorry!"

Another slap echoed, and veins popped out of Mo Xie's face as a tear broke down from her left eye.

Nonetheless, would the kidnapper care how he felt?

No!

- "Bitch! I need 30 million essence coins in the next three hours! I will tell you the drop place in an hour."

The call hung up, and a cold silence washed over the two groups at the scene.

This kidnapper had such guts!

However, four eyes with messy hair from the police investigation team brought up good news.

"Boss! I have found their location!"

Last chapter for the day! A thanks to all the power stones from the privious week!
