1 Marvin Leydow

A 15 year old boy was diligently punching the air repeatedly. Beads of sweat ran down his body, soaking his white dojo uniform all wet. A small pool of sweat had formed under his feet. He had been training for 6 hours already, his stomach churning in protest as he had skipped lunch. It was almost time for dinner already.

Marvin Leydow was the 3rd child of the Thunder Blade Aristocrat family. In normal cases, an aristocrat's descendant were all pampered and received the best guidance. However, due to Marvin being the bastard son of the family head and a maid, he was despised in his family. Both the adults and children looked at Marvin with eyes of contempt.

This was just the beginning, 3 years ago, when Marvin was 12, like everybody else, he had his talent tested. Every child at the age of 12 would be allowed to start training their bodies with Body Tempering Techniques which aimed to push the practitioner beyond their body's limits again and again in order to raise their gene levels. A normal adult had a strength of 100 kg, but a practitioner's strength could go well beyond 1,000 kg. This required the practitioner to breakthrough their bodies' limits time and time again, allowing their genes to evolve into that of a superhuman's.

The Talent Test tests one's Gene Quality and Elemental Affinity. The higher the quality of one's gene, the easier it is to evolve their genes. A child's gene quality was related to their parents', the two factors deciding the child's gene quality were the parents' gene quality and gene level. If one's gene level had been evolved high enough, it was possible for their children to be born with a higher gene quality. But unfortunately one's gene quality was decided from birth, no matter how much one evolves their genes, their gene quality still stays the same.

There are many battle techniques created by mankind, and most of them relies on an element to raise the technique's destructibility. Thus, one's elemental affinity was the deciding factor for what kind of battle technique a person was suited to train in.

The Thunder Blade Aristocrat family were known as Thunder Blade due to their founding ancestor creating a battle technique called Thunder Blade. With one wave of his blade, a river of thunder wrecked havoc, leaving everywhere in its' path in ruins. He became famous due to this technique, everyone called him Thunder Blade, thus he named his family Thunder Blade.

As the family head of Thunder Blade Aristocrat family, he was naturally strong and very talented. His Gene Quality is C+ Grade and his Thunder Affinity was B- Grade, with such great talents, his children would naturally also be born with great talents. The eldest son's Gene Quality was C-, Thunder Affinity C. The 2nd daughter's Gene Quality C+, Thunder Affinity B+.

But Marvin's Gene Quality is E+, Thunder Affinity D+. The shocking difference in talents had stunned everyone in the family, including the guards and servants. The family head had even tested Marvin's blood to make sure he really was his child. E Grade was was the lowest Grade, anything below E was basically useless, people born with Gene Quality below E had zero chance to evolve their genes, at least, as of yet, there had never been anybody recorded in the history to have successfully evolved their genes with a F Grade Gene Quality.

The blood test's result was positive, causing everyone to insult Marvin's mother, a maid of their family. They insinuated her dirt blood was the cause for Marvin's low talents, with how talented the family head is, there was no way his children could be so talentless.

The family head had even had thoughts of taking Marvin's mother as a concubine, but after the Talent Test, he quickly dismissed the idea. Both Marvin and his mother used to live together with the rest of the family in their mansion, but were quickly chased out and now lived with the rest of the servants in the servant house.

Marvin blamed himself for everything, he caused his mother to be treated worse than servants. Everyday, the two of them got picked on by the servants and his family. If not due to him being the 3rd child of the family head, the servants would have been harsher with their bullying, but his family did not have such worries. The Thunder Blade Aristocrat family had several elders and branch families, their statuses were much higher than the servants and due to their jealousy, continuously picked on Marvin and his mother.

The majority of Marvin's time was spent in a branch dojo of Thunder Blade Dojo which was owned by his family. The branch dojo was located in a less populated suburb of the city, not many people knew his identity here, and this dojo was quite empty, not many people came here. Marvin enjoyed the peaceful time he spent training here everyday. He forgot his troubles, here, he did not need to worry about being picked on.

Due to the sparse populated suburb, the dojo instructor only came by once a week and instructed. As such, the other dojo members also only came once a week. Marvin was able to get the spare key due to his identity, everyday, Marvin took the train which took him one hour to get to Grassroot Suburb. After school, Marvin spent most of his free time here in the Grassroot Suburb Thunder Blade Dojo.

"Phew, let's take a break." Marvin mumbled. He wiped his sweat covered face with a towel.

Marvin took out his food box, after heating it up in a microwave in the lounge, he started eating.

"Got to get stronger...!" Marvin mumbled. The only way for his mother and him to get better treatment was to walk the path of practitioner. Although, the school taught many subjects which offered many different future paths, due to his identity, Thunder Blade Aristocrat family would not let Marvin and his mother leave their family.

Only if Marvin walked the path of practitioners, would he have a chance to change their fates. The majority of mankind walked the path of practitioners, but about a third were not talented enough and could only seek a future in a different direction. Some were scientists, mechanic engineers, news reporter, cook etc. These people lived a normal life, but they would never dare to offend a practitioner or an aristocrat family. Of course, weaker practitioner would not bring these normal people much trouble, but higher leveled practitioner can kill normal people if they offended them without punishment.

The statuses of a practitioner and a normal person were worlds apart. This was due to the mankind's need of practitioners in order to survive.

1,000 Years ago, Earth was destroyed. The humans escaped Earth and drifted along space for 200 years before they found a suitable planet to live in. This planet had no civilization, but brought great danger to the humans, all kinds of monsters existed here. 100 Meter tall monster apes, 1,000 meter long snakes, dragons, giant insect monsters. The planet was infested with all kinds of scary and lethal monsters, some could breathe fire, ice, thunder and poison.

The mankind fought for 500 years, exhausting all their fire arms, they managed to clear out a small territory for themselves to live in. Many heroic men died in this mission, but in return, these life and death battles enabled many humans to evolve their genes, not only did their bodies become stronger, their immune system, regeneration and lifespan had increased along with their evolved genes. After many researches, they were able to come to the conclusion, that humans can evolve their genes!

The peace did not last long, as monsters continuously fought over territories. The only way for humans to stay safe was to continuously evolve their genes and become stronger to defend against the monsters. Many brave men threw their lives on the front line in order to protect their families and friends. The situation worsened as the human population quickly dwindled, they were no match for these monstrosities with their weak human bodies. Even with their newly advanced particle beam guns, they did not stand a chance.

It was only when groups of martial arts families, with the help of scientists managed to create a new kind of martial arts training technique, they called it Body Tempering Techniques. These techniques allowed people to evolve their genes without putting them between life and death situations. With the increase in gene evolved humans, the casualties lowered dramatically. More and more humans managed to survive in battles, and continued evolving their genes to a higher and higher level.

300 Years later, mankind carved out 5% of the planet as their territory, it might sound little, but a large part of the planet consisted of water and other kinds of unimaginable forces, acid swamp lands etc. As such, 5% of the land territories accounted for a large part. Heroes of their times emerged and carved out their own territories, founded cities and their own aristocrat families, with the increase in territories, the human population rose quickly.

Mankind finally had a room to breathe, humans flourished, the monster's carcasses were rarities, many parts could be made into high quality armor, weapons, stronger walls, anything built with the monter's body parts were a lot stronger! The new planet had many new elements, the scientists busied themselves exploring the new materials on this planet. Humans felt relieved, this planet was where their new lives would begin, they named this planet Genesis.
