40 Life Element

Lucas got curious, slowly he expanded his senses and checked their cultivation, but he was quickly disappointed.

Among this group of young men and women, only one woman similar to his age had a cultivation of peak of the lower three realm. Others didn't have any high cultivation to speak of, highest among them being the initial stages of the third realm of the three lower realms, and lowest being no cultivation.

Lucas inwardly shook his head and left without sparing a glance.

Lucas continued to wander around the airboat, he have already thrown the previous case to the back of his mind. As long they didn't trouble him, he will just turn a blind eye.

On the higher floors there were entertainment facilities for passing time, like betting pool, casinos etc..

As he walked Lucas came upon a long staircase leading to the upper deck, without hesitation he walked up towards the deck.

The upper deck was broad and wide, the light wind caressed him gently and lovely, there were pairs of couples and some elderly sitting and watching the setting reddish sun in the west. The dark sky was starting to creep upon and a small portion of stars was arriving at the sky.

For a moment Lucas was lost in the nature's beauty. He walked near the rail and leaned upon it. Watching the sun Lucas called upon his mana, shortly a yellow flame ball hovered above Lucas's palm. He continued to pour mana and increased its temperature. Focusing on the short ball of flame, the yellow flame danced and slowly moved like a snake and wrapped around his hand.

Lucas faintly smiled, "Hmm, So increasing the mana leads to concentration of the fire elements, thus increasing the temperature and finally leading to more control on the fire elements."

But still, in his mind Lucas felt that with enough training complicated shapes and movements will be easier.

But when the quantity of mana increased, it will be easier to control the flame for less complicated movements and shapes but it will be more and more hard to control the flame for complicated actions.

Lucas pondered for a while, slowly he shook his head and cast his doubts in the back of his mind. "My knowledge is insufficient."

The rays from the sun shined upon the land, quickly Lucas noticed some rays reflecting, observing more closely he noticed a nearly transparent film covering the entirety of the airboat.

'What is it?'

"A protective covering? Does airboats have protective covering? No it's not just a protective cov-"

"Lucas" An unexpected voice came from Lucas's behind.

Lucas was startled due to the sudden voice and lost his control. Even with his superior senses, he didn't notice anyone standing behind him.

Due to the sudden disturbance in his mind, the mana got out of control and quickly the fire went out but not before slightly burning his hand.

Lucas turned his head around and exclaimed, "Oh, it's you, Uncle Ivan."

Ivan faintly smiled and frowned while looking at Lucas's hand.

Ivan said, "It seems I have disturbed you."

Lucas shook his head and said, "It's nothing. It will heal quickly."

Ivan faintly nodded and stroked Lucas's hand with his thin delicate hands.

A faint green glow surrounded Ivan's hand, upon touching the burnt part of Lucas's skin, the skin slowly shed leaving new clean and clear skin without any scars.

Lucas looked at his hands in astonishment, he faced Ivan and asked, "Wood elemental aura?"

"Life element." Ivan said gently.

"Life element?, but…." Lucas hesitated to ask.

Ivan nodded and said, "Yes, Life element. What? Surprised?" Ivan once more glanced at Lucas's hand and said, "Good restoration power. Are you dual cultivating?"

Lucas nodded and replied, "Yes I am cultivating the [True Life Origin Scripture], and have increased my vitality by a huge amount….."Lucas hesitated for a moment and asked. "The [True Life Origin Scripture] cultivates Life force energy, I have once sensed life essence during cultivation, but just now…"

Lucas didn't continued but Ivan nodded expressing understanding, after thinking about for a while, Ivan organized his words and spoke.

"Do you know what is an element?"

Lucas blinked his eyes for a moment and replied, "An element is a part or aspect of something abstract, especially one that is essential or characteristic. It can also said to be an substance that cannot be broke-"

Ivan raised his hand signaling Lucas to stop.

"What you have right now said is right, it is the standard explanation in text book language, But can you talk in magical language?"

Lucas was stumped for a second but in short moments he came to his senses and said, "An element is a part or aspect of the manifestation of Law."

"Yes, you're right. A part or aspect of the Law." Ivan smiled brightly and explained. "Elves are born with a high affinity of wood element. Wood at many times represents life and growth. What you have felt earlier was the aura of life element that I have cultivated with the help of wood element."

"In my cultivation I have attained some achievements in Life element, so naturally I can use life element, but my way of understanding and practice of life element is different. So naturally you will feel some difference. No one can cultivate the same nature to their energy, it's similar to DNA, for everyone it's different."

Lucas asked curiously. "What about those cultivating the same cultivation method?"

"Cultivating same or similar cultivation methods will produce similar nature but never the same. Even the Mana, Qi or energy we cultivate follows the similar theory."

"If your senses are sharp and sensitive then you can try to absorb the life seed of plant type creature or a better choice will be dark type creature's life seed. You will feel the minute difference in their essence."

"In your case, when you cultivate [True Life Origin Scripture] the life element that you feel and understand relates to the life essence the you human beings contain."

"I have to commend you, usually even Magisters or Core realm warriors will find it difficult to sense the differences in a elemental attribute."

Lucas quietly stroked his chin and asked, "If what we sense is only a part, when will we sense the complete element or Law?"

Ivan eyes widened in surprise for a moment, but soon returned to normal.

"You don't need to know that, when you reach the prerequisite, you will naturally know." Ivan slowly and clearly said.

Lucas nodded and asked, "Alright, since I cultivate [True Life Origin Scripture] will my affinity with the Life element increase."

Ivan looked at Lucas with a strange expression. "Do you want to try life elemental type spells?"

Lucas didn't evade Ivan and gave a silent node.

Ivan sighed and said, "Since you could smoothly cultivate [True Life Origin Scripture], it means you have good affinity towards life element. Just simply cultivating the cultivation method with a elemental attribute will not increase your elemental affinity."

Lucas quickly asked doubtfully, "But from what I know, many practice the cultivation method that lean towards some specific attribute. They all cultivate to increase their affinity."

Ivan lowered his head and spoke while looking at the passing trees on the ground, "You're right. But those cultivation method makes the body to be more attune the specific elemental affinity, not increase the affinity. You have to remember, for a Mage the elemental affinity is a combination of soul and body. To increase this affinity the ordinary but effective approach is that, coming in contact with the said element or keeping or using materials containing the specific element's essence regularly."

"Other method include in consuming heavenly treasures or practicing the cultivation method and understanding its essence. Cultivating those methods you have mentioned is the right way, but the elemental affinity can only be increased when they understood the essence or core of the cultivation method or cultivating it to a high level."

Ivan gazed at Lucas in a limpid way, "In your case, it is different, the [True Life Origin Scripture] you practice is a part of [Supreme Life-Death Origin Scripture]. If you want to increase your life elemental affinity using cultivation method, you need to practice and understand [Supreme Life-Death Origin Scripture]. The level of [True Life Origin Scripture] is low, so you won't get any benefits from it."

Lucas lowered his head and pondered. Ivan seeing this thought that Lucas must have been disappointed. Ivan tried to console Lucas.

"You don't need to think too much about this. Right now you need to train and practice in the four basic elements. As a mage it is your foundation. If you want to venture on other paths, you need to have strength and a strong foundation."

Lucas just raised his head and looked at Ivan.

"Four basic elements : Fire, Water, Earth, Wind. Most of the higher tier spells are commonly based around the four basic elements. Other elements are either derived or integrated to the spells." Ivan calmly stated

Lucas didn't ask anything further, with dazed eyes he looked at the darkening skies.
