36 Hidden Genes

Lucas scanned the six large worn out pages with his eyes. It is evident that Steward Jacob regularly used to read through the pages. Despite the fact that it was only six pages, the information contained in it was huge.

"Uncle Jacob, this…this is."

"Yes Young Master these figures and information are from the part of the chapter 'Definition of Body Language'."

The paper given by Steward Jacob had information on body language. It detailed about how to walk, how to sit, how to run etc.. it also gave information on identifying a person using observation skills. According to the given information with a simple look it is possible to know the which type of person is he or she is their nature and sometimes their history can peeked upon.

Lucas looked at Steward Jacob exasperatedly. "Don't you have anything…anything useful to me."

Steward Jacob warmly smiled and shook his head. "Your are mistaken Young Master. Each and every part of the [The Compendium of the Art of Supreme Body] is precious, nothing is useless."

"For someone like me, who is at my position the chapter of 'Definition of Body Language' is precious information. If I can comprehend and act on the information written in those pages I could help old master more and more."

"For me it is useful. And didn't Young Master earlier said that you just wanted to sneak a peek at the knowledge in [The Compendium of the Art of Supreme Body].

Steward Jacob widened his eyes and faked a look of astonishment, "Don't tell me you lied to me."

Lucas just laughed awkwardly and once more gave cursory glance at those pages using System [Scan]. Immediately after that Lucas gave those paper to Steward Jacob and bid farewell.

"All right then, thank you Uncle Jacob."

After giving a polite bow Steward Jacob turned around and left with a gentle smile on this face.

Lucas released a sigh and closed his door. He thought to himself. 'No one give me any important information if I didn't have the appropriate status or position or strength.'

Lucas continued to walk while mulling over the things he have done in the past week.

"I was rash, I had too much courage in me. Why did I need to risk myself?"

"I have born with a golden spoon in my mouth, I could have take it easy. My nature is not like this. Something is wrong ...something is seriously wrong somewhere. Even the Lucas who didn't have his past memory was truly a cautious person."

"There are too many blind spots, too many easy ways. I could have told Uncle Merlin and could get many contribution points or could just tell grandpa and maybe he would have helped me. Realm Crystal although precious it was not much of use to me."

Lucas rubbed his chin and thought for a long while. Lucas continued to recall his memory, after system completed the fusion Lucas's memory greatly improved even though it was not near the photographic memory it was still a tremendous improvement.

"Is it….Yes that's it. That's the only explanation." Lucas suddenly remembered a system notification. "'Ding! Host's soul hasn't stabilized yet. Excessive information flow may risk damage to the soul.'"

Lucas narrowed his eyes and thought, 'Soul hasn't stabilized, is it the reason?'

Lucas didn't think more, he called System and directed his questions and suspicions.

Lucas was surprised and shouted loudly.

"Obsession?"

"No, not possible. What are you talking about? Speak clearly."

Lucas again and again called out to System in his mind, but he got no response. Lucas closed his eyes and tried to think more. After sometime Lucas shook his head and put the issue behind.

"Anyway things happened. There is no use in thinking anymore. As people say no use in crying over spilled milk."

Lucas closed his eyes and summoned his status in his mind.

Lucas furrowed his brows, "Last time I checked my mana was 4.5 but now it is only 5. Does purification doesn't increase mana." Lucas couldn't help lament on his past self. "I don't know a thing about cultivation."

"What about spirit? Even though i don't train in Shamanic Arts my spirit will not be none."

'System, why isn't the data regarding Spirit not shown?'

Lucas was startled, "Insufficient data? Hmm Insufficient data. I need to read a lot."

Lucas continued to look through the data.

"Wait! Why is it says my bloodline is at high level. It should be at Top level. According to Arsln family bloodline test I am born with high level bloodline, yesterday system clearly told me that the bloodline was upgrading. What happened?"

Lucas opened his eyes and a cold light flashed in it's depth. With a solemn and steady steps Lucas paced around.

"Was bloodline upgrade failed or did my bloodline rank degraded in these years or the test was tampered with."

"No the test won't be wrong and my bloodline hasn't degraded. If did so, my grandfather should have known. So the only option left is System failed."

Lucas felt a bit uncomfortable at the thought. In a foreign yet mysterious and strong world the System was a hope and pillar for Lucas, if the system isn't awesome and ultimate then…..

Lucas immediately halted his train of thought. He took a deep breath and calmed his emotions down. First the problems need to be known only then can I solve it.

'System, Did Bloodline Upgrade failed.'

[Ding! Yes, Affirmative]

'Why?'

[Host entered Ultimate Supreme condition during Bloodline upgrade.]

Lucas was stumped. "'Ultimate Supreme condition' sounds cool. Is it that special state of mind? What does it do?"

[Ding! Affirmative. During Ultimate Supreme condition all capabilities of System Function will be at its possible peak and all mind related abilities will be 300% more powerful and the mind will be immune to all kinds of debuff]

"So how did it failed?" Lucas still couldn't understand how it all is related.

[Ding! During Ultimate Supreme condition the Assimilation function performed spectacularly and used the energy for the bloodline upgrade to unlock the hidden genes.]

Lucas didn't know what to say. He sighed inwardly, he have once heard about the Gene theory introduced 300 years ago. It was said that all human beings have bloodline of gods, but it is very very thin and is hidden and locked deep in the genes.

Due to the low concentration of divinity bloodline. It is impossible to awaken or develop. But it is still possible to use the bloodline energy to push other prominent bloodline to higher level and produce variant abilities and evolution.

Everyone was ecstatic when they first heard this but reality was brutal. First of all it is not possible to specifically locate these hidden and locked genes.

There are some potions that energize the cells and open the potential deep in the genes, but they are extremely expensive and only have 1% chance in unlocking the locked genes.

The Ancient and aristocratic families and clan could still afford the expensive potions, but what disheartening was that unlocking the genes may help in strengthening the abilities or even obtaining powerful abilities outside their bloodline tree but leveling up their bloodline was too hard and success probability was only a .01% chance.

Slowly people only used these potions to try their luck, even so not many are willing to drink them. It was because if the ability gained is outside the family tree, it would be hard to train it and finding secret art capable of utilizing it would be hard.

But it is still somewhat popular among people who haven't awakened a bloodline or developing their bloodline. For them no matter the small chance having a powerful awakened ability was a true welcoming offer.

Lucas rubbed his head. If his bloodline level upgraded he could have more privileges and rights. Top level bloodline is a treasure for the old ones in the family. Top Level bloodline was rare but not too few. There were still people with Top level bloodline among those old and powerful presence. His grandfather was among the only eight supreme level bloodlines in the Arsln Clan.
