111 Chapter 110: Unexpected Situation

"Zenkichi?"

"Hm? Brunhilde? What's wrong?" Zenkichi replied, raising an eyebrow at her whilst reigning the Sphinx Nitocris gave them as a parting gift.

After his talk with Ozymandias, both he and Brunhilde then left the pyramid with the destination being the vague location of the Last Master. They were just going to continue flying over the skies but Nitocris gave them each a Sphinx to use to comfortably travel across the vast desert wasteland. They were initially going to refuse, but after hearing that it was 5x as fast as a Lamborghini, they accepted the large transportation creatures. Also, it was kinda funny to hear someone from ancient Egypt say Lamborghini.

Brunhilde stared at her Einherjar. "I should be the one to ask you that question. Zenkichi, what's with the long face? Didn't you get that... Holy Grail? With that much magical energy inside of it, which could grant the holder almost any wish, shouldn't you be happy? Don't tell me it can't fix the problem of your divinity and demonic power."

Borrowing the Holy Grail from Ozymandias was surprisingly easy; he actually just gave it away to Zenkichi and said that, "Hmph! What, that's it? Very well, this trinket has serve me well as my drinking cup for a while now anyway, it's high time for me to replace it. Here, have it. Consider it as a gift for such an amusing conversation we had earlier and for your journey, so you do not owe me a favor at all Zenkichi."

Zenkichi chuckled softly at the memory before turning his gaze back to Brunhilde.

"It's not that simple, Brunhilde," He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "After holding the grail and checking out its power, I can confidently say that it could temporarily fix my problem. What I mean is, it could restore my divinity and demon powers to its peak. But its deterioration still continues and the only reason I could think of why that is, is because-"

"Is because of faith," Brunhilde interrupted, finishing Zenkichi's sentence for him. She looked at him with a knowing expression. "Divinity and demonic powers derives from the power of belief; for without the faith of others, there could be no creatures that are called Gods and Devils. Although that isn't certainly true, as some Gods has existed before the creation of man, but considering that you are a new God that usurped an old one but without integrating yourself into that God's pantheon... your Godly position is flimsy, is what I can say."

"That's true. Looks like I'll have to pay Tanjiro's world a visit soon." Zenkichi sighed, gazing straight at the desert and noticed a tall building in the distance.

"Is that... a castle?" Brunhilde muttered, noticing the tall building on the distance as well.

"Looks like it, and it seems like it's where Last Master and their companions are staying at as well. Let's not keep them waiting, shall we? Hya!" Zenkichi nodded in agreement, he spurred the Sphinx forward towards the distant castle. A cloud of dust trailing behind them as the Sphinx ran at full speed.

As they approached, the imposing structures loomed larger and larger; it was a wall, its architecture ruined and ancient. Zenkichi and Brunhilde looked on to see a large line of people coming into the dilapidated city. After coming so close, they saw that what they saw was a ruined city with the magnificent, almost crystal-like castle towering in the middle of it all. The contrast between the grandeur of the castle and the desolation of the surrounding city was stark, leaving Zenkichi and Brunhilde with a sense of unease.

The city seemed as though it had went a war.

"How terrible. This is their so-called Holy City?" Brunhilde muttered as she got off the Sphinx.

Zenkichi nodded, getting off the Sphinx as well and ordering it to return to its owner, he then turned towards the ruined city. "No. See that beautiful castle that seemed as though it came out fairy tail? That area around it is where the Holy City is truly at. This place around it is just... a relic of a kinder past. One everything that happened here didn't happened at all."

Brunhilde nodded, silently gazing at the ruined city. Especially at the people walking into city gates, wearing dirty robes and most looking malnourished.

The sight brought a feeling of nostalgia and sadness, quietly shedding a tear before wiping the tear off. Being the head Valkyrie that leads the brave souls of men and women into heaven, such a sight was familiar to her. This ruin, this city filled with suffering and despair, stirred within Brunhilde memories of countless similar scenes she had witnessed throughout her long existence. As a Valkyrie, it was her duty to guide the fallen warriors to their final resting place, but it was also a burden to witness the consequences of war and hardship time and time again.

'No matter what world, time, and events, humanity would always find a way to ruin themselves,' Yet despite such a grim thought, Brunhilde smiled. She acknowledge the flaws of humanity, greedy and warmongering, just like the Gods. But unlike them, humanity learns from their mistakes, they move forward and persevere. She saw hope amidst the despair, knowing that even in the darkest of times, there were those who would rise above the ashes and strive for a better tomorrow.

It was why she was happy of modern humanity. Though blood, war and strife was still present, it couldn't hold a candle to the wars and bloodshed from the ancient past. It's one of the reasons why she defied the Gods' wishes in the first place; humanity was going well in their golden age of technology and science. They were soon going to enter the age of space and then... godhood.

It was why the God Kings in her universe were pushing for the extinction of humanity. They didn't want the ants they've always looked down upon to rise above them, to become equals, or even surpass them. In their arrogance and ignorance, they didn't realize that some already had reach their level.

You might be asking yourselves, if she cared for humanity that much, then why did she leave her reality with a man that she barely knew for a couple hours? Well, she didn't get to her position just because she was Odin's estranged daughter.

She came with Zenkichi to his world as her hidden trump card. From the day she used the chat and saw his username, something deep inside of her told her that they'll become a useful powerful tool, and she wasn't wrong.

Lucky Devil, Zenkichi, was just a highschool student with strange abilities from his reality and more. Not only did he defeated her father alongside her, he also managed to kill the Japanese Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu, but he also stole her divinity(even before he killed her!).

From what she could tell, he had no limits. God and Devil yet still retaining his humanity? He is an anomaly, an abomination of good and evil, he was also her strongest partner.

If the Gods were to win or lose and break their word(which is likely), he'll come and help her out. Despite his claims not being a hero or a villain, he is extremely sentimental to the ones he cares.

For the sake of her world's humanity and her sisters, Brunhilde would do anything to save them. Even if it meant sleeping with him, and fall for him.

Truly, the things she does for her sisters and humanity.

"Brunilde? You okay?"

"Hm? Oh, sorry about that." Brunhilde said, snapping out of her thoughts. "I was just lost in thought. The sight reminded me about the past, that's all."

"Ah, I guess that makes sense. You are quite old after all." Zenkichi nodded in understanding.

Brunhilde's eye twitched.

*Pak!*

"Ahh!" Brunhilde yelped, hissing in pain as she crouched down and held her foot in pain after kicking Zenkichi's shin. "J-Just how fucking tough is that metal ability?!"

"Hehe. You see the reason why I didn't use Encounter skill during that encounter with the Knights of the Roundtable? Not only because I want to keep it as an absolute trump card, but The Iron ability can take on almost any damage, whether it be physical or magical." Zenkichi smugly explained.

"Tsk." Brunhilde harrumphed and looked away, visibly sulking.

Zenkichi shook his head and said. "Come on, Brunhilde. No need to be sulking now. I'll buy you a box of that special cinnamon pie back home as an apology. We've got a mission to focus on."

Brunhilde sighed, her frustration dissipating. "It better be several boxes... Alright, let's head into the city and meet with the Last Master. Since they're here first, they might have valuable information for us."

"Most likely. Now, question. Could you manipulate your clothes to whatever you want?"

Brunhilde blinked, confused at his question. "What? No I can't."

"What? Then how did you change your clothes then?!"

"Same as you, idiot, but simpler. Space magic."

Zenkichi was about to say something to her when he brush against... something with his Reading Mind. It was madness, blood, violence and death, yet also discipline and responsibility. They were overwhelming emotions from someone, surging like a wave but kept locked tight like it were a dam... that wasn't human, something he knew in the depth of his mind.

He looked up, strengthening his eyes with magical energy, his vision magnified and he could already see the person whose overwhelming emotions belonged to-

'That... who the hell is that?!' Zenkichi's eyes widened, finding a tall woman with long, flowing blonde hair with some kind of jewelry headband on her head, pale blue eyes with her right eye slightly glowing red, and she wore a strange set of armor. She had an intimidating air around her, cowing anyone from acting out. It helped that she had some wicked glowing blue chains around her left arm, a sword on her other that was pointing down but ready to cleave someone in half, and some strange... shadowy dog-like creatures around her as she coldly analyzes the people going into the ruined city gates.

'She's a servant. But I don't remember her being part of this singularity! Nor about her being part of the Knights of the Roundtable.' He narrowed his eyes, recalling his ability lest he and Brunhilde gets discovered.

What does this mean? What kind of a butterfly effect did he cause that caused a new character to appear in the story?! What other changes happened now?!

But also, who is she?! Is she in that Lostbelt update? Zenkichi remembered playing FGO up to the Salem Pseudo-Singularity and stopped due to how boring its gameplay was. The only good thing the game had, what really carried the game, were the art styles, the servant's backstories, world building and especially the waifus! You'd think that with the millions of dollars it generates every year, and five years in operation, it would made significant changes to its gameplay. Especially that horrid gacha system...!

Zenkichi took a deep breath, calming himself, pinching the bridge of his nose. Huh. Looks like despite becoming Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, his past feelings about FGO lingered.

"Zenkichi? What is it?"

"...Trouble."

Unbeknownst to the two, a pair of silver eyes from atop the castle building saw them. He unhesitatingly projected a long black bow in his hand and a twisted looking sword, sort of like a drill, on the other. Red lightning made of magical energy crackled unceasingly around him. His long red scarf and black leather trench coat fluttered in the wind as he observed the newcomers with a mixture of guilt and determination.

"Sorry about this," He muttered under his breath as he nocked the drill-like sword to the bow, impressively, the drill-like sword began to stretched out and thinned like an arrow. "I am, the bone of my sword."

"Caladbolg!"
